3-way connector for hydraulics

Post by lazza »

HI Forum

I have a simple problem but am not quite sure how to go about it. There is a 3-way junction on my xantia in the middle of the car between the two front wheels. It has been leaking for some time (see photo). I have been given a replacement part by Citroen, but i'm not sure if it's the correct one (see other photo), and if it is, how I should go about changing them.

I did try depressurizing the whole system, but fluid still came out of the junction.

I'd appreciate advice on how best to complete this task (and if they have given me the right part)

Cheers
Larry

These plastic hoses that push into rubber fittings are just leakage returns that don't carry any pressure, (other than that provided by gravity) at most you will get a bit of oil dribbling out. Just put an oil pan underneath, find something to block the end of the hoses with as you are removing them from the fitting, (fingers, blu tack etc) and swap them over! :) Be careful not to split or snap the hoses as they may be a little brittle with age.

i wouldnt use blue tack or anything that could get up inside, i would just unplug from the old union and plug the pipes back into the new one, they should be a very tight fit

I preferred the first picture, with the tie wraps, far more artistic.
