update, even though with the vin i was sold some glow plugs, it turns out that my engine probally dosnt have any ? ! ive had the top of the engine out and unless there hidden with magic they are not there.

can anyone shed any light and where to look next on the start procedure, its hard to start and is killing my battery trying, once started it will run fine ( mostly) for the rest of the day.

is there an air heater on cold start or something ?

Mmm, it shouldn't need any , most common rail engines will start fine without them unless you live in Siberia. Your car does have them, they are located below the inlet manifold. Poor starting can be due to low rail pressure or air ingress.

hi, thanks for the reply, i had the whole plastic intake manifold/one cam cover off. didnt take the cast/other car cover off-has the injectors in this bit too? are they really buried this deep ? there was no obvious sign of anything going under there ?
rail pressure seems good to me.

yeah ive herd that, not a problem if that IS where they are, got the manual but wont work on my pc, need to get round my friends and load it up. its throwing that blimin depollution warning - hard to start, lumpy idle at first, drives fine lots of power, idles fine once started and going. consistently a pain to start though (beter warm but still a pain) and occasionally throwing that warning up.
any ideas ? didnt want to litter with a new thread just yet !
