Resurrecting C5

Post by MGD »

I have a C5 which has sat for 12 months because it had most of the classic faults.
1) "ESP/ASR not functioning" would come up on a run every couple of weeks
2) "Anti pollution fault" appeared every five minutes.
3)"Immobiliser fault" would appear every fifth attempt to start.
(Nerve racking when you have to drive on and off ferries regularily!)
Etc. Etc. Etc.
Engine has been run occasionally but battery eventually went flat. I decided to fix it or scrap it so put a new battery on & it started OK.
However it Immediately came up with "ESP/ASR not functioning" and nothing | do will remove the message. Now I am well aware of the standard fixes for this problem. Vacum leak, swirl valve etc but I do not see how any of these would trigger an immediate fault message.
Any thoughts would be welcome. Cheers
