Hi all,
My CD player had a CD stuck in. I opened it up and got the CD out, but now it doesn't seem to detect CD's when you try to put them in. It won't try to pull the CD in or anything.
So a few questions if anyone can help please.
Is this a common/known fault?
If I need to buy another, do some of the models play mp3 CD's as mine doesn't?
Is it worth fitting one with a CD changer? How and where are they fitted?
Is there anyone in the Durham or surrounding area that could code the radio for me in return for some beer tokens as times are tight and there's no way I can pay a main stealer price.
Can't stand driving without music! So frustrating.
Thanks in advance for any help/information.
EdIt: a solution could be a multi changer. If the radio part still works perhaps a CD changer would work. It does have a button to select a multi changer. Is the wiring likely to be already in for one so I could just connect it up? Where is it normally located (under seat/in glove box). Does a multi changer need to be coded or set up via a lexia?
Sorry for so many questions, its just the kids are terrible without music when travelling.

Re: CD player woes.
I don't know what model HU you have, I have the RD4 & yes it plays MP3 CDs. I did have the 5 CD changer, but didn't think much of it as it was slow & could only play 1 CD on random not all 5. I got a USB Box to replace that & play my ipod.
I believe these units do have an Aux input & you can make up your own cable (have seen a tutorial somewhere), but I think they need enabling on Lexia.
Have you tried the usual fixes of air duster & contact cleaner spray. I find these 2 fix so many electrical problems!

Re: CD player woes.
Mine says it is the RD3-01 model.
Not sure if that changes things.

Re: CD player woes.
Yes, its a common fault, I have had two C5s and a 406 and the players didn't work in any of them, I even bought a secondhand one and that didn't work either - I have now fitted a Kenwood.

Re: CD player woes.
If changed to another CD player, like a Kenwood, can you retain the steering controls without paying for an adaptor box?
Just trying to find the cheapest way of doing this.
Still thinking multi changer if it would work.

I think something like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CITROEN-AUX-I ... 20d173eabd" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; would be better than a changer, but I don't know how much you were expecting to pay.

Re: CD player woes.
That's not a bad idea at all.
I'll have a little read up to check its compatible (unless anyone already knows) and see what the capabilities are.
It looks like the cable for a multi changer is missing, so by the time I buy a cable and changer, or a new radio and get it coded, your idea would be cheaper and potentially better.

Are we talking about a MKI C5? If yes, look at this thread.... looks like a bargain to me.
