Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Am I correct in saying that these knackered muti function stalks are a common problem on the Saxo? :twisted:

I've got a '52' 1.4 Saxo Furious that I'm cleaning up to shift on, but the indicators on RH mode are very 'touchy'.

It looks like it's not multiplexed and is a stand alone switch. The shrouds look like they are split around the column, so it should be removable without taking the wheel off. I've got the same trouble with my Xantia, but that struggles with left indication - maybe we can build one good one out of two :twisted:

Hi - any advice on how to get the heater fan working on a 2.0 HDi Multispace with a/c.

Have reviewed many posts suggesting that the semiconductors may be faulty but appears this rectifies the problem with the heater fan constantly on full power. Also read that it may be an issue with the fan resistor pack - haven't managed to locate this as yet...

Have you tried applying power directly to the motor, I have never known one go faulty but there is always a first time. I take it that there is 12 volts present across the two thick leads the feed the motor assembly. I can't remember whether it is a permanant magnet motor or not, if it is applying 12 v directly to the brushes should make...

Hi, I own a xantia 2000 HDI and I had to change the front brake pads because they were worn out. The change went painful without any problems, but after the repair the ABS has stopped working - the ABS light is not on, but the pedal simply doesn't strike back and the wheels lock full on - its pritty icy in Norway. Some of you may have seen a green VSX Turbo TC recently for sale on this forum. Well I wen ahead and handed over 300 quid for it and a boot FULL of spares!

My concern is this. It's quite a bit rougher then discribed. I knew it needed a new wing and general tidy up but it also needs:-

Some help please.....

1) When starting after the car has sat overnight or longer the stop light takes a long time to go out (when I got the car I changed the fluid and cleaned the filters and it didn't do this). Sometimes after setting off the light will flicker back on again once or twice. The issue seems worse in cold weather. Any ideas,...

Me again, not having a lot of luck with the old girl at the moment. For many months I have experienced a slight misfire during warmup. It starts around a minute after starting the engine, you can hear it popping very slightly through the exhaust and the car will shake slightly. It feels as though it is just one cylinder. Ay-up,

So travelling into work today the radio stopped working.

Battery was very low on power.

Very slow windscreen wipers etc..

Charged battery.

Turning the ignition on, the battery symbol on the dash had a faint glow.

As Peter suggested earlier, may be worth looking for spare alternator in scrappy, if you have one locally. You could do a swap, and fix existing alternator at leisure, although I think alternator is bit more fiddly to remove on your car, as you have air-con, which has the hydraulic pump is above the alternator.

Quite fond of my remapped diesels, and certainly feel my new C5 could do with a little more oomph!

Doing a little research, however, it does seem that the standard torque output is alarmingly close to the maximum torque rating (or at least the only one I could find, which could well be an earlier version) of the automatic box. :shock:

A decent remap will be able to limit torque in 1st & 2nd gears to protect the auto box. My Saab has a Stage 2 Maptun ecu and that does exactly the same.

Didn't even think of torque limiting. #-o

I may have to call around a few places and have words. :mrgreen: Shame Maptun don't do Citroens, I had great experience with them with my Saabs too.

Hi All,

My wife's car has been giving random fault messages on the central display unit, its a 07 model with just under 40,000km's.

The first error said that the right brake light was faulty, so I replaced the bulb, the brake light still didn't work either, then it told me that all the brake lights had failed, so I eplaced the left hand brake...

Today, driving in the dark, I had to brake heavily and out of the corner of my eye I saw a flash.

It's just a micro switch on a plate fitted to the top of the injection pump and is activated when the throttle is released (closed).

Only two positions. Open or Closed.

It's snapped of a few times.

The last time I've just left it off.

What can it be doing on a mechanical injection pump?

Citroen C5 2.2hdi 2002 My climate control is working intermittently so I'm guessing the control module. Can anyone tell my how and where I get access to it. I don't have a service manual for this car and can't seem to find one. The Haynes manual does not cover the 2.2 HDI

Just a quick silly question, its not because its too cold is it? 3 or less degrees the aircon is off even when on auto. Unless you manualy put it on or demist.
We have had those temps around here, but mine is now a facelif C5 so I don't have an aircon light to worry about.

iirc (2 years ago) the cable comes out in a plastic trumpet, i 'removed' that trumpet and then from there you can take the cable into the cavity and drop down behind the centre console. The sites I have found are good good and show OEM numbers for the parts being sold, problem is there are sometimes more than one part for the same car being offered. But buying online it is a pain to have to return something.

The 1994 TD SX Xantia had an issue all during my ownership when I was useing her... The ABS has always worked and work fine at all speeds...

Though I did find out that speeds over 75mph would put the ABS light on and actually knock out the system. Not like the XM were the light can be on BUT the system still work. Thats another story Ive prooved...

Recommended life for a tyre is said to be 6 years .. you dont want to be buying a tyre much older than that, certainly not over 10 as you don't know its history, where it has been stored and how, or how it has been used. It might just start to break up.

Apparently, lack of use is just as bad, e.g. unused spare tyres, which is what many eBay...

I noted walking away from the Xantia that there was a PROBLEM. after locking the doors (can't recall if I activated the deadlocks) I saw that the indicator lights on one side of the car were stuck on permanently.. I feel this is an issue that's been discussed in the distant past.

Having fixed the up/down/at you flap and cables recently on my Xantia I noticed that the fan seems to produce more airflow when the temperature lever is in the cold position. The more you move it towards hot the airflow decreases.

Normally I just leave the outside air/recirculated air lever in the outside air position. As it was cold tonight and...

Audi, VW and BMW still use a rotating switch on the dash for lights, I don't find it a problem as they are very large and (unlike stalk switch's) illuminated when the ignition is turned on, BMW and Audi mostly have headlights on the right switch and fogs on the left to make it clearer.

could you point me in the right way please as doing somthing wrong in the jukebox.or you can not do it. i am running latest version 8.20

you can create four playlist in the jukebox and should be able to put in as many cd/album in to each one as the hard drive will alow , i have copyed six cd/albums on to the unit so far and created one playlist...

Im surprised it has auto wipers being an LX, as they didn't get them. If it has auto wipers it will have auto lights too. As Clogzz says, put the ignition to the 'service' position, push and hold the end of the indicator stalk until it bongs.

Does your LX have the slightly larger central display screen...

Hi guys,

With the onset of the cooler weather this last week, my Xant has been struggling to start.

As some of you may know I ran Bio from Jan to March and it developed a problem of smoking on start up. It turned out that the glow plug on Cylinder 4 (Furthest from Cambelt) was dead so I replaced all 3 (couldn't get to one behind pump so gave...

I have a 2002 HDI berlingo the 1 series before the large head lights. I'm really struggling to change the alternator, It is such a tight fit against the radiator.
I have moved the PAS pump & removed the oil filter.
I'm now thinking I'll have to remove the radiator or remove the front bumper to move the radiator forward.

Any one on here ever rebuilt a Xantia pressure regulator

I thought I'd get hold of a spare (same part number as some BXs) and have a play.

yep, the main problem is they loose accuracy pressure output, you will need to test the valve on the car with a cheap pressure guage off of E-bay that reads up to at least 200bar as the cut in pressure should be 145bar and cut out 170bar. You will also need a bit of pipe made up to connect it to the valves output port.

Hi, my 98 mk 2 xantia v6, is not the most comfortable xantia I have ever driven, certainly not a patch on my XM. At the best of times its rather harsh, not bouncy, I find myself steering around potholes and bad bits in the road!

Just latley its taken to becoming alarmingly bouncy ,I think on the back, this happens suddenly as I am driving, lasts...

Hi all..

Does anyone know to where the rear suspension MAIN feed pipe connects to at the front??

Ive a pipe to replace on a 1994 L reg Sinker, which of course is a single pipe to the front...

Does it goto the Security valve, or some where else??

Im asking so I make sure I get a pipe to replace it with from my collection.. and I know it will be...

Hi guys. Run out of bottled gas again. Normally we get gas in my dad's VW syncro van but he's out.

I once had too much weight in a Ford transit and it fishtailed all over the place (solved by unpacking and repacking the van).

Hey guys

Noticed a couple days ago that the element in the rear windscreen is only half working. The top half is clearing mist away and heating up but the bottom half isn't heating up at all.
Other than the fuse, what could cause this?

Looking at the Haynes manual is says to drop the subframe, does this need doing or can you just slack off the bar and slide the bushes out?

I'd like to change from auto to intermittent setting if it is possible to do so.

The way it is, auto wiper usually moves either at the same speed as 1st speed or faster.
Some have commented that it's because the glass is not clean or wipe is not good enough (or words to that effect) - if the wiper blades are installed a bit off (maybe too tight...

yep - it has auto lights also.
i have scraped off the adhesive and clipped it back on. it seems to have clipped on pretty solid, not sure if i need adhesive there at all.
now all i need is rain to test it out.
it's a pity that sensitivity of the sensors cannot be adjusted.

My Alpine Head unit has a rear USB lead and an iPod connection on the rear as well. I ran the iPod lead through to the glove box and leave my iPod locked away in there. The Connects2 interface allows me to control the iPod as well as the radio, cd, usb options via the column stalk.

Has anyone else tried MEHR fuel filters on the XUD engine? I bought some off fleabay for about £3 each. They look nothing like normal filters. It's got a green plastic body with lots of holes in the top and what looks like rolled up paper in the bottom. I was a bit skeptical about it. I put one in yesterday, it was a tight fit, I hope it comes out...

The filter paper compresses with the suction from the pump and it expands the walls so makes it difficult to pull out.
With the shifting filterpaper the ring of glue that is supposed to keep the paper in place breaks free and breaks up.

hi all just fitted new spheres front and back to c5 , but now the ride seems very jiggly , bought the spheres from ihfs stamped with manufacture date as of may this year. pressure for front 57 bar pressure for back 44 bar ride is not as floatly as would have liked, seems worse at the back car is estate 110 sx diesel. old spheres done high miles at...

Been reading with interest the post about swapping seats. A couple of things I'm not clear about.....

1) My car is an early series 1 with no airbags. Does that mean it doesn't have seat belt pretensioners and that I therefore wouldn't need to swap the front belts if I fitted series 2 seats?

Yes, it's me again.

This time, it's my other Xsara......

Taking the dogs out for a walk this afternoon I was driving along and noticed my heated rear windscreen light was up.

Turned it off, then after a while it turned back on all on it's own! So I turned it off again, and then it came on again.

This on/off sequence carried on all the way back...

I have tried wiggling the stalk about, but not 100% sure that makes much different.

However, casting my mind back, when I first bought the car in August 2009 I can remember that the right hand stalk made an irritating buzzing noise.

Not wanting to add to your gloom, but I think ESP warning lights are covered by the MOT from January. So, even if there is nothing wrong with the car the fact that there is a warning light misbehaving might cause a fail.

It would pass in December, not in January, but others might know better.
