I doubt the piece of plastic holding the cable to the floor will cause an issue with the air bag light, but an intermittent loose connection in the plug and socket almost certainly will. Check for a good electrical connection within. Look...

usually if the aux belt fails it can worm its way into the cam belt area/housing, and cause the cam belt to fail

I plan to rub down some rust that is round the boot opener on my C5 2.2 hdi exclusive...... log book says it is grey,couldn't find a match in halfords,though they do mix paint. I have been told there is a code somewhere that I can tale with me and they can mix paint using that code? I just need to know where to look to find this...

as u can see mine needs replaced, is the cracked part a bearing and are they available to buy?

when these bearings get all rusty they restrict the spring rotating with the strut, so you get a twanging noise as the spring is wound up then releases

its a twanging sound i have so the bearing should fix that fingers crossed

Can anyone help. I have 56 xsara Picasso and the bulb has blown on my climate control panel so I cant see if the air con/heated rear screen is on or off. I have spoken to a Citroen main dealer and they told me that it is a labour intensive job. I have dabbled with my Picasso. So can anyone shed any light on my dilemma to avoid enormous expense.

Hi all.
Please forgive a naive question, I have just got an 08 2.2 Relay, and I cant for the life of me find the fuse for the rear nearside light, I gave up trying to find the fuse for the number plate lights so traced the live feed to the side lights and replaced the feed to the number plate bulbs with a spur off the side light, worked for 2 secs...

Hello Im new- go easy on me!

The radio works fine but the CD doesnt, it just says CD loading on the main screen. Any ideas? Ive tried a CD cleaning disc to no avail.

Also my climate control screen- the bulb has gone. Is there anywhere in the Manchester/NWest or WYorks area that can pull it out, open and fit a new bulb (s)??

If 28mpg from your Activa is a combined figure, its no better than what I got in my 2.0i Auto. It never dipped below 24mpg in constant urban stop/start 30mph driving, motorway was 33mpg, combined would have averaged around...

Personally, I think there are great and the difference between the emissions of my X7 C5, which has a FAP, and my wife's diesel Nissan Note, which doesn't, is amazing. I don't see how the need to handle Eolys fludi correctly suggests that it causes 'the same problems' as it is designed to cure.

Firstly, aren't the warnings on a bottle of Eolys only the same as those found on a bottle of white spirit? This is hardly high-grade toxic material!

Secondly, only a few ml of the fluid are introduced into each tank...

I have one of the ebay ones and can confirm it works very well. As xac says the secret is to be able to whack it with a hammer. I have been changing spheres for nearly 30 years and never been able to remove them as easily as this tool does.

Any ideas why when I get in my car in this damp cold weather my screen is so misted up on the inside?

Pollen filter not to old, no water leaking in the car and aircon works fine. Should I be doing something when parked up like leave recirculation on or switch off ac a few mins before parking up.

What would your diagnosis be for heavy steering when turning the wheel quickly at a standstill? Belts are fine and the LHM fluid has been changed to see if that improved anything. Slowly turning the wheel is okay too, most noticeable at low revs.

Fuel tank seems to be alright now, although I think the nose is a bit high, I remember seeing a guide...

Hi, I have the above motor bought from a friend as a non runner. He's had poor starting for a while, but now it won't start. The RAC man says it's the High Pressure pump. Before I replace this I am checking other options to clarify.
I have fitted new fuel filter. Air filter is like new.
I can hear the primer pump running for 2/3 secs, and also...

Hi all,

I own a Citroen C5 2.0L 5 doors, year 2007. Is this a car that can last me for the next 10 years or so? Tell me more, if you have own a Citroen for more than 10~15 years.

Going by your experience and Citroen car making history, are spare parts easily obtainable then? What are the parts that are likely to fall apart that I need to keep...

The newer ones do seem to be more complicated and difficult to repair so the answer is I don't know. My C5 is already 12 years old with nearly 200,000 miles and its going fine, even has original clutch/DMF so I shall be sticking to that for a while yet, in fact if I have to replace it, another pre 04 2.0.Hdi will be the preferred option.

Our 2005 C5 estate has been fine (no symptoms of anything) until I went to start it this morning and just got a click and a muffled spinning noise, no attempt for the engine to turn over. Usually with a C5 this is the battery but I have checked the battery and its ok, its not even very old.

On closer inspection this spinning noise was coming...

Are you just worried there is a live pin sticking out ?
If so just either pop a bit of heatshrink over the pin or an empty insulated spade terminal. Even better (and neater) use a proper relay holder base.

I've had few issues with the box and now the current one seems to be quite tricky.
Before, I had the usual problem with regulation pressure and changed the electro valves. The fault code about pressure doesn't occur anymore. That's good. At least all oil is...

I don't envy the job - although on paper finding a broken wire is simple electronic troubleshooting you could do with a multimeter, physically doing it on a car when the wires criss cross through the car in conduits in almost impossible to reach places can be nightmarish, especially when all the wires in a bundle...

I’ve just bought an 07 C5 Exclusive with a towbar. (Genuine Citroen fitment). According to the handbook the towbar doesn’t affect the reversing sensors and they automatically detect when a trailer is being towed. It could be that your towbar electrics are non Citroen and the sensors are disabled.

Watched a C5 Tourer 2.0 HDI 160 VTR+ go through this morning, metallic grey, 100k on the clock, warranted miles with full mechanical print out, 59 plate, looked the business. £3300 + fees taking it up to around £3700. Trade on this alone is £3800 making this an absolute bargain, also had 5 stamps in the book.

It is possible to sleep in the back of either (yes it has been tried) by removing the back seats. the main difference is in the dash board. Basically the same engine ecu and BSI and kit available on both. Whichever one you prefer to drive....

Hello all, long time lurker and I only appear to pop up when I need help from those more experienced in the quirky world of Citroen!

My Xantia Diesel Turbo Auto appears to have dropped into some torque limiting function. This started with a slow pullaway in first which had been ongoing for a few weeks.

Well I had a good poke around and you were right! :-D

The boost compensator supply pipe that travels via a solenoid attached to the cam coverhad popped the hose off the back of the valve!

Removed, cleaned and soften the pipes before reattaching again. Quick test drive and all is good!

On a Xsara (Phase 1), if you do a complete engine swap or injection pump change, then your ignition key will show an error and you pump will not work.

If you have a Lexia and the 4 digit code specific to your car (from Citroen), then can you re-code your pump or ignition key ?

We ask this because we don't have a Lexia and want to be...

Can anyone tell me with certainty, if the 5.5J steels from the Green Lady (1.9TD SX) will fit over the bigger front discs/callipers of the VSX. Yes, I'm aware of the insurance implications but the narrower rims are shod with an almost new set of Goodyear Ultragrip winter tyres, whereas the VSX has Nexens on the front and Crap Ho cheapies on the...

Rails would appear to be 460mm Centres. Don't know about the electrics but I assume you would need to move the rails if they are the same type, or fit suitable ones from an X7.

Kinda urgent. Seeing car today. Did a car check and it says the number plate was changed and said caution. No indication of anything else such as write off etc so why be cautious. What does a change hide/indicate. A speedy bit of advice would be appreciated

First frost down here this week and it would seem that the drivers door mirror heating has failed over the summer. Can anyone say if this is likely to be a broken wire running through the door shut, or the tailgate. The feed for the HRW is broken in the tailgate, and is on the to do list, but the mirrors worked fine last Winter in this...

Thanks Paul, that's a very clear explanation of how to get the glass off and back on again, a voltmeter and the expertise to use it are two things I don't possess so for a fiver or so I think I'll just change what's necessary.

hi,
can anybody please tell me how I alter the overspeed warning on the c5 exclusive?? the handbook just tells you how to do it which is how i did ot on my old c5 but i don't know how to do it on this, I got to the point where it tells me to enter the speed I want to program but I don't know how to do that?? I'm buying a set of these,

They are from an R reg Mk2 2.1 Diesel. I don't think i've seen them before, are they unusual?

The whole car is being broken up if anybody is interested.

Now it will be scraped. :( I found the tow bar half a meter under the car. The boot lid can't be opened nor the left backdoor :(

I was hit at a stop light by a car with five zeros.. four in the front and one behind the steering wheel :D

Funnily enough,when it happened to me I had the German VW Santana 5cyl petrol. It had a massive towbar and a brand new 405 came whizzing up my rear as I sat at lights. He hit me such a wallop my seat broke and I lay in back seat :lol:

His car was write off but mine had a slight twist in towbar and boot lid had...
