Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Just got hold of a replacement turbo outlet pipe to replace the one on mine which had a broken fixing bracket. It bolts to the bell housing just before where it connects to the intercooler inlet. The original bolt is long gone but looking at the rubber bush in the pipe and the locating hole in the bell housing I'm assuming it must be some type of...

Parking assistance still works (shows on multi-functional display) but NO sound signals. Also, radio/CD no longer opperates, and the 'MENU' button does not bring up any screens on the multi-functional display (so for example, I can't adjust time, see warning log, etc). Checked fuses F8 and F10 under dashboard, and they are OK. All this went wrong...

Julian Marsh of citroenet.org.uk writes on another forum that an informant in Paris has mentioned to him that the next generation of C5s will no longer have hydropnuematic suspension. Even the Exclusives will be on steel springs.................... Probably a rebadged 508. Poor Citroen!

I have a C8, and the braking on it seems to be a little lacking. Dont get me wrong, it stops ok, but you seem to have to press the pedal a good bit before it gets past the light braking stage if you know what i mean.

Maybe its supposed to be like that, i have nothing to compare it to as i,ve never had a citroen before.

Hmmm.! Physically probably assuming the torque converter dimensions were identical, electronically could be some gotchers! I believe the ECU's are the same basic box and I would expect communication to be the same i.e CANBUS, and to have pretty well identical data parameters if not values sent down the wire, the main most important piece of data...

I am overdue to fit a better Rad to my Xant TD. Its looking a bit tatty with blue crystaline at the bottom.

I have heard that the Bayonet connectors are a major pain. Whats the general concensus, ie is it better to fit an S1 Rad and replace the hoses with standard ones or will the Bayo connectors pop off ok and refit to the new rad in most...

spider.. early 306s.. thats 1993 to around 1996 tds had normal clip hoses not bayonet ones...

i agree.. dump the bayonet hoses.. theres no need to remove the bumper but you do need the washer bottle out, this useually means breaking the straps as the bolts sieze on the captive nuts.. but break them in the correct place and you can use cable ties...

Noticed a couple of times with Cassy when I set the alarm/deadlock with the remote, the indicators come on for a second or so to show it's set, but then the passenger side remains on.
If I unlock and re-lock it's fine.
Must be a dodgy earth, but has anyone had this before?

Yes! I thought I was the only one.. I found that opening and re closing the locks solved it -at first- then after it returned some weeks later the near side indicators all stayed on permanently (even after switching off the engine and locking up)and I could no longer signal left. Hi Guys,
100% brilliant, sorted problem with Xantia 2. you were bang on. I checked the pipe work on both cars. I am absoultly sure I piped up as came off. Piped as per Xantia 1.
PREY HESTO !!!!!!!!!!! MAGIC. Dog bone pops of when altering height, will replace with new asap, until then magic carpet ride again !

Hi , Guys, thanks for your responses. Sorted in as much as it now goes up and down as it should. Next problem- The ride Height bracket C.V to ARB Metal pin was snapped so have swopped for the one from Xantia 1. I understand that it's a bit tricky to get it adjusted properly, Any sugestions ! it's taken me ages, mainly due to time constraints but me ABS is fixed, but i still can't understand why someone would want to cut the wires in the harness, maybe some weird reasoning any how the owd shed is working again and will not be retired to the back yard to keep chickins in :?

Didn't win any races, might have come close if my reaction time was better. The car really suffers at launch nothing happens up to 20mph 3000rpm then it starts moving. Think the most impressively geared car there was the nissan 350z must of gone through 3 gears while I was in second gear and just disapeared. Lot of turbo jap cars there with a car...

Having a spot of bother at the moment which has resulted in us being locked out of our S1 Xantia V6 :(

The key stopped working the other week so I assumed the batteries were flat, bought 2 batteries and fitted them, tested the key and it worked ok. By the time I got back out to the car the key had stopped working again.

Not certain if its affecting the drive of the car, may be a little firmer at the front but not really noticeable.

However just left the engine running outside Asda whilst wifey popped in to fetch something.

The front of the car seems to drop about a cm every 20 secs or so, but then immediatly rises up again.

Hi all, recently purchased my second Xantia, long story short - rear suspension not lifting. Replaced the rear control valve ( rusted solid , dog bone broken ) with a known working one and dog bone, from 1st Xantia, suspension now up, wont go down, well did go down once and passed the front on its way up ? which works ok. any sugestions greatfully...

Hello all,
Had the exhaust break on my 110 HDI just in front of the cat. Has anyone replaced a complete system? I have released the rear box which is ok. My problem is that I cannot remove the 2 spring loaded nuts/bolts on the turbo connector. There seems to be no way to gain access from below.....

It looks like the clip has gone. I haven’t had much time to examine the problem properly (rain, hail, darkness etc) but I can see both ends of the cable, complete with nipples on them. The cables seem to be in good condition and attached to something and not broken so I’m assuming that the clip has decided to disintegrate.

Well i knew water was getting into my drivers footwell, and guessed it would be fromt he rear washer pipe. I was correct.

I thought it must have split, but infact someone had done a rather bad job or connecting it (guess they took out a 1 way valve or something) with tape :shock:

The carpet was much much wetter than i had expected. It was...

Ok, so I THOUGHT i'd fixed it!

The washer pipe is now fine, but upon inspection, the floor is soaking again.

I left it running for a while with air con on to see it that was leaking but it seamed fine.
The wetest part now seems to be around the hand brake lever.

I'm wondering if its coming in around the door seal or if the drains in the door...

Been planning to change the gearbox oil for some time but never quite got round to it despite having bought the oil.

Today I finally set about the task and after removing the filler/level plug no oil came out :shock:

It gets worse :roll: put nearly one litre of new oil in and still nothing :shock:

So I've put it back together and went for a...

The oil leak must be coming from the gearbox and not the engine.

You can tell easily by getting some on your finger and smelling it. Gearbox oil smells very sickly sweet...

One of my front wheel bearing has been grumbling for a while, but has been getting more noticeable this week, maybe since I replaced the suspension arm bushes, the new bushes are stiffer and transmitting the noise more effectively.

It seems loudest at 50MPH but is quiet on a RH bend. But which one is it :?:

I have joined the forum after lurking for a while in the hope of someone here being able to diagnose an intermittent fault with my W reg, 1.1, Saxo that was recently purchased for my wife to drive. I have tried searching the forums for an answer without any luck.

Just a quick update.
I have now renewed the Lambda sensor which made it a little bit better. I then removed the manifold and renewed all the gaskets. I also removed the throttle position sensor and cleaned it inside with WD40 then dried it of with clean kitchen paper. All seems well now. The car idles properly and drives smoothly.

hi, i cant use the key to lock either the doors or the boot on my newly acquired mk1 berlingo, all the key does is just spin, on the drivers door it feels notchy , ive had a look inside the passenger side and it looks ok, can also see a couple of wires going into a box which i guess is the central locking? if thats the case when i push 1 of the...

I think Addo is right.
The extra 2 small key blades in the plastic packet are direct replacements for the blade in your Plip(s).
That saves any immobiliser recoding costs for those keys.
Gets you going straight away with only one rear door lock to sort.
Waiting for a perfect match lock set will cost you both time and probably a lot more money...

Was thinkign about this the other day so had a root on Ebay and came across this onclick= window.open(this.href);return false; after also watchign Ed China do it :-D Seems simple enough. The only thing is, woudl the wheels not need to be on some sort of dolly to let them turn a bit while your adjusting the track rod end?

You need 2 flat plates. Like 2 same dinner trays. As long as they're longer than your tyre diameter.

Ok as in the below post took my top hose of the inlet manifold from intercooler and put my hand over the the pipe and put the engine at 2000rpm and could not hold my hand there.

Used a little brake cleaner in the pipe to clean it, now got antipollution fault.................... tried to reset by disconnecting the battery. Will a diagnostic reset...

Did a run at 70mph for 10 mins and still on, left car for a while and now gone out.

Had me worried for a while, there was a little oil in the top hose but not allot. There was no way I could hold my hand over the pipe at 2000 revs so all good there, will stop messing now.

I damaged the sensor in the MAF when I tried cleaning it (big mistake, it's very fragile) which, of course brought up the alarm. I bought another and it did clear without a Lexia reset.

I have found one on euro car parts with the part number 5wk9628z..This is exactly the same as the number on mine except mine does not have the z on the unit. Early Citroën RF sets have the rolling codes preset and cannot be reprogrammed even with a Lexia.
Later Citroën RF sets can be recoded by Lexia.
What dates are you referring to with that statement John?

My intercooler has a little oil at its base, been like this for over 12 months, do clean if off now and again with brake cleaner.

The car runs fine and turbo kicks in as it should, is it normal to have a little oil?

Would suggest doing it in situ, spray the intercooler with carb cleaner or similar oil emusifier and then blast with a hose or jetwash to wash the oil away.

One other thing you could do if you have the bumper off to do the cleaning is to spray the intercooler with soapy water and then run the engine at idle with the pipe blanked off with luck you...

Very first post here, so forgive me if I have done something wrong!

I just picked up a 2003 Citroën C5 HDI with Hydropneumatic suspension. When I push the button to raise/lower the suspension only one side seems to rise/lower. Any ideas what this could be? I've heard when something goes wrong on these its an expensive fix :(

O.K first things first is there fluid in the reservoir ?

Is the rear suspension already on the bump stops?

Assuming that the answer to the first question is yes and the front suspension goes through the range of max high to max low then the problem can only be due to a failure of both rear electro valves in the BHI or a failure of the height...

i dont think the internal seals/rubber components will suffer putting citro blood into a DOT fluid system,
it certainly does the other way around though, as DOT fluid turns LHM system seals to gooooo,

If you're looking at before 1972 you'd only find a 1015cc model as the 1220cc didn't come out until late 1972.

I owned an 1129cc G Special (my first car!) and have driven the 1220 GS and 1299 GSA a lot as well, and I would not suggest getting a 1015. The 1129 was very gutless, let alone a 1015 - it revved well but it just had no low down torque...

Well it had to happen....

Failed on,
Snapped handbrake cable. (broke when I parked at the garage!)
Front near side calliper leaking.
Offside front trackrod end cover split.
Near and offside rear brake pipes corroded.

Now I've found the balljoint and cables at GSF.
Can't work out what the brake pipes were though. The MOT man said they ran...

I went to get some spares off this C5 before it went for scrap with a broken gearbox, having been Relayed back from a trip down south.

My N/S/F brake caliper is leaking from behind the rubber boot.

I've found a rebuild kit on EBay that will fit the 'Standard 60mm single piston Bosch caliper'.

Is this the one that I need?

If it helps, the HDi 110 uses the SAME calipers as the V6 Xantia.. I beleve the Bosch Brakes used were the one size only on both models.

The Estates use larger brakes then the Standard hatch, but Im not familliar with them. I do beleve they are different again, but not as big as HDi/V6 sorts.

On the estate, there doesn't not appear to be anywhere that lowers the spare wheel carriage, at least in the same way that is on the hatch.

first the water leak issues and then the tailgate solenoid locking problems.

I have marked in below pic where the membrane especially must be well sealed.
Curved surface tends to raise and leaves a passage for water into the car.

Looking at another Hdi estate, but one of the problems is that the speedo is reading about 15 mph too high.

When the engine is started, speedo jumps to 15 and then stays there. Increases as it should when you drive off.

ie 70 on the motorway shows as 85 on the speedo.

Done a search and found the links to the rev counter issues, but cant find...
