Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

A while ago I had a rather inconvenient loss of all power going to my headlights in the Xantia, which lead to me overstaying my welcome at Thurrock services (but that's another story).

Turns out that even though there was 12v arriving at the light stalk, there must have been some hefty resistance somewhere down the line meaning nothing could be...

I've done this on Xantias and it was always worth it. But I used 2.5mm. Make sure you use multistrand, that's plenty flexible enough. (1.5 is a bit weedy really). Think I've even done 1 wire per circuit feed as you asked.
Mentioned already I know but: If you're going straight to the battery stick in an inline fuse/s close as poss to the battery...

Hello,

After recently driving my Picasso the ABS warning light appeared on the dashboard. I checked the front hubs to see if there was anything obvious and saw some score marks on the reluctor ring (I suspect a stone or something similar had got trapped). Although I couldn't see deep scoring I suspected that the ABS sensor may have been damaged....

Like many folks on this forum I'm getting an air bag fault warning on the dash.
I followed the advice to solder the wires under the passenger carpet but to no avail.
I've had it on a Lexia now and that says it's an internal fault in the air bag ecu.
Lots of second hand ones on ebay but where is it located?
Any idea if it's simple to change?

As already stated fitting a second hand airbag ECU is plug and play. Just make sure the one you are getting has the same part number. I bought one off EBay and fitted it about 5 years ago. I just plugged it in and reconnected the battery and it has been fine since.

Presently holidaying in France with our 2005/05 1.9D Multispace Berlingo.

Once last week and multiple times today I've had the hand brake/low fluid light come on with flashing stop light and beeps from warning system. Each occasion on long descents and only present for short periods. Reservoir is definitely full to max and not losing. Will call...

Hi All

I borrowed a 1.6 petrol Berlingo multispace to go to Spain in. Nice and comfy car with 5 of us in and of course a full boot of 5 peoples luggage. Bearing in mind the payload I was still really surprised at just how poor the fuel consumption was! At 70mph it was returning about 25mpg. I'm guessing this isn't right?

Hi All,

I'm due to do an engine oil and filter change on my 1998 Xantia V6 (ES9J4) and was wanting to get opinions on whether anyone has tried fully synthetic in theirs ? If so what type and rating ? (Also recommended brand of oil filter)

Not only is an oil/filter due (over 1 year and 4000 miles since the last known change, and hasn't been done...

A filter like that has to be physically suffering a massive blockage before it impacts on the ability to lubricate as required. There are greater potential losses in the oil pump gears.

You could possibly assume a running clearance of 1.5 thou on all rotating/sliding surfaces except cam lobes. That way, the bearing dimensions would allow you to...

I need some help sorting out a niggly problem.
With the help of member Hirameuser and his Lexia (thanks Phil) we tried to reset the fault code that displays tyre sensors missing .

Morning all,
discovered the reason behind the passenger door dropping when opened yesterday, appears that the lower hinge has been hiding some rust form me!! looks like its cracked all around the weld on the visible side and underneath too,

looking at it, is it going to be a case of clean up and reweld or a Plate around it?? as not...

Basically this happened:

Basically looks like the lower balljoint has snapped, I was doing about 30mph at the time.

Can I DIY fix this, I have had to dump the car at a mates, it is impossible to move without a low loader.

Can I just slide the drive shaft back in, fill the gearbox back up with oil replace the lower arm and bent drop link...

Well ive had the C5 now for a little over a week and apart from a couple of niggles which ive sorted i am very pleased, i look forward to going out in it.
Any how went out this morn to a pals house and when i got back in it to go home the engine management light came on, so not bad really, i got a week out of it! The fault came up with Depolution...

Your fault sounds like my Xantia when I had a duff electrovalve controlling the turbo.

It's usually this that brings on the light. A vacuum leak / duff electro valve causes overboost and this in turn brings up the anti-pollution message. Mine does it very occasionally, and that's had the dpf removed already. In fact I'm trying to source some...

Yep, as in Elle ne va pas, m'sieur .

No dialogue with ECU. Plenty of dialogue with CPH and it is not getting a signal from the engine.

I'm starting to suspect fuse slave board under the dash has failed.

All good; a substitute set of leads and coil pack and she's like a new one. I've not heard such a smooth V6 for a while.

Hi in middle of replacing fuel pump looking for a diagram or layout of lhm pump so can see which way and where washers go to space etc as when you slide long bolt through hole in lhm pump pulley the body is narrower than slot it sits in so just working out so it will sit in line for belt to run properly as BOL isn't a great help either.

The clue is in the parts - the factory diagrams are often inaccurate.

The bolts pass through a two piece collet and nut setup. It's designed so the collet expands when the bolt/nut is tightened, locking it into place within its sliding range.
The reason i asked was my friend likes to leave me bits on top of wings/headlights etc so fall off/move...

What oil grade do you knowledgeable chaps feed your 2.0 hdi engines with? I cant remember what I used to use in my old c5 and planning to change the experts oil and filters whilst I have the front raised to change the burst air hose that I have.

is there anyway to check if the instrument panel has been change on a mk1 berlingo? i ask as i was checking through the cars previous mots online and say the mileage jump 50k in the space of 8 months, im sure its possible it could have done 50k in 8 months (223 miles per day :shock: ) but given that it was averaging 9k before AND after the big...

Seats should fit OK. Do not forget to check out the Partner equivalent while shopping for spares.

Be aware later models may have side airbags in the seats and things like pretensioners for the buckle (if fitted not sure on these it might be in the belt instead) as these are likely to be different.

Later dash is different (round vents etc) ,...

I have a solar Panel to keep the battery up on my laid-up C5 (06), is it OK to charge via the ciggie lighter (it has a plug) or does it have to be direct to the battery, its a low volt trickle charge but I was wondering about the Can-Magic wiring ?

anyone know what wire is for the rev counter on a mk1 berlingo 1.4 petrol (sagem).

autodata show the ecu as 1 plug where as mine has 3, it shows it as 42 going to 426, where my ecu is a row of letters and a row of numbers.

all, brought a tuning box from someone on here(was in for sale section)
Have a longish journey over weekend, would be good to fit it before I go..

where should I stick it? :mrgreen:

The is jsut a 3 pin male and seperate female connector - just need to know where to put them..
seems there is a plug going into the fuel rail , underneath it.....

I'm hoping this is nothing to worry about, but after a struggle to turn into a very tight parking space at a relative's house yesterday that required a 7-point lock-to-lock turn, I noticed wisps of grey smoke from the front offside of the car. After parking up I switched off the engine and opened the bonnet and could see a bit of smoke escaping...

Hi I have a 06 C5Mk2 1.6HDI and I have noticed that the speedo reads about 5mph faster than the what the cruise control is set at, anyone have any clue why :)

I have posted this a few days ago, but i picked up a 56 plate C5 just over a week ago and had my suspicions about my speed. By running with the gps it turned out speedo was Under reading by 8mph! hi i have an xsara picasso when i go out in the morning it starts no problems revs fine but when i put it in gear to pull away it initally is ok for a few seconds then its loses its will to keep going so i dip the clutch it reves up no probs if i do this for a few seconds it seems to clear then it drives ok all day after this i have been told it...

C5 Exclusive tourer 2.2 2008 new model.
Car had started showing anti pollution fault warning around a month ago maybe a git more, then last week it came to a stop in the middle of Newcastle with the wife at the wheel.
Short stop seemed to reset everything and it driven OK since then.
Tonight I've got the warning of low anti pollution fuel...

Re refilling the additive tank I did it on my present C5 and found it to be a very simple task, firstly I bought the additive from Citroen as they now offer a new version (Infineum F7995) which reduces build up of ash on the particulates filter so worth it in the long run, the kit comes comes with the additive, a long length of hose with a tap and...

A new message has just started to appear on the info screen telling me that one of the wheel sensors is missing. Assuming no one has come along in the night and gone to the bother of nicking it I assume one has packed up doing whatever it does. So is there a way of telling which one?

As it could do with new tyres all round I was also wondering...

I have a picasso 1.6 petrol 52 plate and when i press or depress the clutch it makes a noise ive got shards of metal inbet ween the engine and gear box i can select all gears still just a noise when press or depress clutch any ideas

Hi all,

My 1993 Xant has an outer CV joint that is donald duck'd. Although it's the (expensive) long one (shaft) I'm inclined to fit a complete new shaft as it's the original and maybe the rest of the shaft isn't too far behind. Only trouble is I can only find shafts for sale for '95 onwards Xants :( GSF, Euro, CP4L and Mr Auto don't appear to...

Just wondering if anyone can help with a rough value on the Xantia TD i have once i have completed it,

Spec will be
Xantia mk1 Desire
With Without rear spoiler
Rusty Jambs repaired and repainted
168k ish miles on the clock.
History is from Gadget Ricey and Fatherjack
Its just had rear hydraulic leak repaired
Will come with 12months MOT
Tax until...

Well most are either petrols or hdi's and the only one that's close is one that had one owner and 50k miles no tax and near full mot and just managed £430 :(

I did think the alloys were original but it shouldn't affect insurance anyway as they are worth pretty much little anyway.

Need to find out when the belts were last done really as that's...

Some time ago, on the Might be useful one day principle, I saved the extending aluminium handle from Bettaware broom or similar - one of those that you twist to lock/unlock with a plastic hand grip on the end of the top section and a threaded plastic socket on the other.

Today I found the perfect use for it - much more useful than as a broom...

Hdi 110bhp with Tuning Box.
255,500 k miles on the clock..
Well mechanically looked after. Always serviced etc on time
All original injectors.. second hand engine pump fitted

Experiances: While I had 195/60/15 the average fuel consumption was around 54mpg.

We went away not so long ago for a week in cornwall, before we went wanting to be all...

i have just had someone ask me what is the cause of his C5 speedo reading about 8 to 9 MPH under what its realy doing,

he has found by driveing through speed camera's at 30MPH they flash, but if he stays below 21MPH they dont,

i have not seen the car yet and dont know exactly what modle it is, i think he say its a 2.0lt diesel,

Hi, I brushed against the turbo oil feed tube on my C5 1.6 hdi today and found it was loose, the pipe was sliding about in the banjo .
I've had an oil leak but didn't know from where . As a new pipe is the best part of 50 quid it came off and I welded both ends , yep

I'd prefer to see steel banjos brazed onto steel pipes rather than welding: welds are brittle and no matter the method (gas, MIG TIG) it's very much harder to get a reliable and durable oil-tight joint. Brass banjos of course need to be silver-soldered (tinsmith's, not plumber's or electrical, solder).

Any gauze filter would seem to be a bit...

Just thinking really, and wondered about the viability of buying both a Xsara VTS and an Estate, and transplanting the running gear from the VTS into the Estate.

Looking closer at the pattern Timmo I think you're right and they are Resolfens...

Shows how big the cars have got - in some cases the Resolfens look small on the C4s, whilst on that Xsara they look huge...!

I have a strange warning light on my dashboard which looks like a soft verge, seems like the car is leaning on one side (the drivers side), I have looked all over online, but cannot seem to find the meaning, does anyone know what it means?

Secondly, My wheels are wobbling at 50miles/hour speed and above, especially when I delay in changing gears,...

OK...planning a Forced ReGen (via Lexia) of the nasty box in the exhaust as I get a risk of particular filter blockage warning and the motorway Italian tune up does not seen to of worked.
I get NO other warnings
So, ?

Is it a good thing to do ?
if so
? What prep work to do ? to make it all safe and effective.

When I have done regens on Lexia, it has never worked, in fact the last one I did on a C8 made the pressure differential larger, not sure how :(
If you have a 1.6 hdi, you need to get it removed correctly, I have much experience with these, and you cannot easily trick the car into thinking all is well. Remember the car will still try to regen...

Hi all, Been searching the site posts for the correct setting for the front wishbone rear bush orientation. The only advice I can find on the forum (and in Haynes) is to fit it as per it was on removal. My problem is that the rubber had parted company with the inner bush, so that on removing bolts, the arm followed Newtons Laws and hung...
