Changing spheres C5 mk1 advice.
Spheres should be here soon.
Any advice on changing them gratefully appreciated. I read somewhere putting on high setting can help undo them if tight.
How hard is it to replace the front middle one?, looks tight. Does the system self bleed? Does all fluid come out when you unscrew one?
Thanks.

Re: Changing spheres C5 mk1 advice.
First make sure that, whatever you do, the car is properly supported and cannot drop down on you. People have been killed by not doing this, and the suspension then causes the car to crush them. Other than this advise, I cannot help any further, as I have yet to do them myself on a C5.

It's not a very good guide for a C5 which the OP was asking about.myglaren wrote:Jim has a very good guide herewaynedance wrote:Spheres should be here soon.

All done, spent a few years putting it off because I thought it would be a pain.
Using the tool above it took 45 mins with help from a friend.
No bleeding needed, unscrew old ones put on new ones and start engine. Raise, lower and top up fluid.
The four under the car were quite tight, used a bar on the end of the tool. Honestly would have struggled without the tool. The front ones came of no problem with just some grips. Oh and did use a diagnostic machine to de-pressure the system.

Re: Changing spheres C5 mk1 advice.
Did you do a full fluid change at the same time?
I'm considering sphere change on mine but if I'm doing it, I want to change the fluid at the same time.
Also, out of interest, what prompted you to change them?

Re: Changing spheres C5 mk1 advice.
Car done 124k so decided they must be past their best. Did not do a full fluid change. Lost nearly a litre doing the change.
You got 4 or 6 to do?

It's a non H3+ car at the moment. I have a mad idea about changing that, though!

Re: Changing spheres C5 mk1 advice.
I'm still working that out...
So long as the wiring to the electrovalves is there, I think all entirely do-able (software is all there just needs enabling, wiring for the sport button all there etc) so if the front/rear wiring is there, it's just plumbing to swap over.
