Fault codes: 0403, 0230, 0243 Xantia 2ltr HDI

Post by Eroe »

Hi all, w ell, here I am again....So I have fixed my steering stiffness, replaced my spheres, made a new key, had my ecu demobilised and replaced my main fuel relay block. All was fine until the car cut out in traffic last week. After a bit it started, and although I had lots of STOP lights due to apparent overheating, did't cut out again until yesterday, when it cut out 3 times in sucession in three miles, again starting again almost instantly. So read the codes this morning and these are the ones I got.
Fault codes: 0403, 0230, 0243
Question to you guys is which one is causing fuel cutout? And second question how do I fix it!!!?
Sorry, didn't say, I know what the codes mean, EGR, flow circuit, Fuel pump primary circuit, Sup wastegate solenoid - malfunction

I would guess Fuel Pump Primary Circuit. EGR Problem shouldn't stop the car neither should the wastegate solenoid. EGR valve and wastegate might be related, have you checked that the vacuum pump and circuit are operating correctly and not leaking?

Yes, it'll be P0230 - low rail pressure. Could be the fuel filter blocked, but on a Xantia with the pumped system, more likely to be the pressure reg on the HP pump.

Thank you for this, and sorry didn't pick it up earlier. Just so depressed about the whole issue. However, now I have replaced the car, I am alittle less stressed and thought I'd have one last go. So will act of your ideas. Except my husband says it still might be the relay, replacement being faulty, what do you think?

If you can't hear the lift pump in the tank running then check that power is getting to the terminals on top of the pump. To do this lift the rear passengers seat on the drivers side and remove the black plastic disc (6" diameter). This will expose the top of the lift pump, check for 12v on the two thick wires when the ignition switch is turned to its second position.
If you have power but the pump isn't running then it has failed. Replacement can be sourced on ebay for around £30-50 (pump only) or the whole thing - pump+fuel gauge sender for about £70.

If you don't have power then you may be looking at that relay again
.
Whereabouts in the country are you? maybe a forum member local to you could help.
