Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

I'm not sure whether to call for the Secret Seven or Scooby Doo, but either way here's the problem:

Erratic oil temperature gauge, C5 facelift.
Cannot find the gauge sender itself referenced in Service Citroën so no way of looking for interchanges to pick up a spare (used) item or buy new. On the car it looks undamaged but oily.

Hi,

I have been driving 130 km/h with cruise control on. After hitting the gas pedal strongly, the anti pollution fault message appeared. I connected my C5 2008 to Diagbox and got the following fault codes:

P1671 : cruise control
P1166 : fuel pressure regulator control
P0691 : Fan high speed control

I have a few questions I was hoping some of you could clear up! I have the 1.9 TD LX model which I instantly fell in love with after taking her for a test drive.

1) This is my first diesel but I have what seems to be a 'misfire' on cold starts. I'd imagine I've got a dodgy glow plug as it feels as if it's not firing on all cylinders occasionally...

Has anyone had a problem with the anti pinch system on the driver door window of a xsara, it was working normally but now it will only work in small stages and will not work on the one touch up or down control, it was closing in one go but kept dropping back down about 4 inches and would only close completely after about 5 or 6 tries, the handbook...

Picks up Bryan s hdi Exclusive Estate.
Very nice just need to get my seat sorted get in the comfort zone.
Theres 1 or 2 things what need sorting on it.

When the fans on full blast the warning lights come on. Is this a dogy electrical problerm. What not worth worrying about. Or does the coolant need changing ?
Is it easy to get a new rear arms...

Hello All,

I'm pretty desperate to get our Picasso running again.

A garage has looked at the car and their diagnosis is a potential EGR fault. I doubt a Lexia machine was used to diagnose.

The engine runs well but will barely advance when the throttle is depressed. After swapping a badly corroded EGR electrovalve, the problem is not resolved...

Hi all,

Got a bit of an annoying issue with my 1.9D XUD dispatch, went to move the van this weekend, and its being a pain.

The engine it has never caught straight off the button since buying it, but once it started it ran fine. However now it is taking a while to strike up, then just dies as if it is not receiving any fuel. Pumped the priming...

That's not easy. They're not renowned for labelling their products, other than putting their name on them.
Take a trip down to the auto sparks and ask to borrow the alternator catalogue. If you're lucky, you'll find a picture that looks like it. Check the tech spec for measurements you can compare, take off the reg and see is it the same.

The Xantia is over 140k, and the MOT approaches. Hi am looking for help to sort out my 2000 w reg 1.9 non turbo diesel van. I bought it cheap has 188,000 miles on it and need to sort her oit or scrap her. It had quite a few problems... A big oil leak was not charging or starting properly and smokes badly when cold. Using my limited skills I have cured the oil leak. This was the sump pan gasket...

I have a 2 series Xantia and I am looking for the sounder which lets you know if you have left your lights on the Haynes Manual say's it's at the back of the fuse box and if you remove the trim around the fuse box it is there,the trim is off and all I see are Relays can you tell me exactly where it is and how to find it

This is my first Cit(c5 2.0 hdi) and things havent started too well, when the guy sold it to me he said how all it needed was the rear disks and pads throwing on,(which were included in the deal) he couldnt do this as he recently broke his wrist.!!! Now come to think of it he may of broken his wrist from trying to dislodge the rear calipers,...

Hi I have a 2003 C5 petrol, the heater fan stoped but the symbol on the heater panel lit up for a few moments after the car was started then went to a hollow symbol, I have replaced the heater resister behind the glove box lhd car, still no fan working, any ideas? the fuses in the car appear to be ok do any of the fuses in the engine bay have...

Hi, well my wife took it to the mechanic and it turned out to be the heater motor, he replaced it here in Denmark for 3100dkr. not cheap but everything is working OK now, love the car but I think its going to take a lot of TLC to keep on the road.

Hi All,

I'm planning to have the inlet manifold out on my Xantia V6 again this weekend to swap over injectors, in the process I will have to replace the upper inlet manifold gasket again.

I am becoming suspicious that despite fitting a new gasket each time, I may still have a small vacuum leak on one or more inlet runners causing a mixture...

The initial cutting out on hills problem I cured by changing the oil :? Its been fine for a few weeks, now it cuts out randomly, I have replaced the in tank pump which is running OK but when started it will run for a few seconds and then stop, leave it for a minute and it will start again - and then stop, I can't even drive it out of the yard....

Hi,
My xantia normally drives pretty smooth but as it comes near the 68 miles per hour, I start to feel vibrations throughout the car. As I drive faster, the vibrations disappear. The band I feel the vibrations is 65-71 miles per hour peaking at 68.

I already got all my wheels balanced. But I dont trust the tyre shop because the first time i got...

At long last I put the Xantia in for the MOT.
It failed, but only on brakes and wipers...
A few quid at the garage to replace all discs and pads, but I'm looking forward to driving it again tomorrow (When it's taxed) :-D

Havent been here for a while, meaning things were going ok (well, nothing too major, apart from slowly deteriorating fuel consumption - I'd better change oil and filters etc).

Hey guys.

Well new problem has arrisen with my 2002 xsara picasso 1.8. Driving it the other day doing about 40 -50 mph and the engine just dies on me. No repsonse at all. Pull over and try restart it, it starts be dies again instantly. Did this couple of time and nothing. Pull battery and reconnect. It starts runs fine and doesnt do it again....

Well hoped my picasso could have scraped through after steam cleaning the oil off the back plates to hide my leaking brake cylinder but no.. think brake fluid has damaged rear shoes as braking was zero on that side! will be done at weekend!! Also front screen wash deceided to stop working at the test!! plenty of water,makes noise but only dribbled...

Apart from those agony leccy handbrakes, the later Scenics need diagnostics to wind the pistons back............ just to fit a new set of pads :shock:
I don't get a chance to wear discs out now. They tend to rust out and delaminate with cracking first. I remember I used to wear them and leave a lip on outside that I had to file off when fitting...

There is a service replacement DPF at a specific mileage. It's not there for life(unfortunately). I can't remember what the mileage is. The 5 series BMW is 112,000 miles. Having a poke around under bonnet of my 06 C5 2.0 HDi couldn't help but notice rust around O/S Strut Top.
.
After the problems with XM & Xantia would have thought Citroen would have put extra protection on.

So a another job to carry out, wire brush, rust inhibitor and waxoily stuff.

C5 strut tops seem to start rusting, superficially at least, sooner than Xantia ones did.
I suppose Kurust or similar, followed by Hammerite, might help.

Hi guys. Just found a diesel leak on Fred. Can anyone give me a part number for the pipe please? It's inbetween the fuel tank and the wheel arch on the rear right hand side of the car. Also I can see where it joins in the wheel arch but the other end disappears up the side of the fuel tank, do I have to drop the fuel tank to get to it?

OK so the pipe has gone again. In the same place so perhaps it's just a bad area for rocks. I used the old pipe off the old tank last time as when I got to Citroen the pipe they'd got in was wrong. I'm going to try them again but am not hopeful. The pipe is corregated plastic so I don't think it would seal against a bit of copper tubing. Perhaps...

I have a 1998 Xantia 2.1 TD which has 2 coolant sensors a blue one and a brown one. I have read on some posts about a 3rd green coolant sensor at the back of the fuel filter housing which apparently is used by the ECU to calculate fuel pump timing. My Xantia does not have this green sensor and where it would be fitted there is a bolt/plug inserted...

I've put the the fuel pump back on my TD and would like to check that the static timing. I'm sure there must be something simple I've overlooked but I can't work out how to do it. I seem to remember on the Lucas EPIC, there was a hole to stick a thin piece of metal through.

As we are all aware strut tops are no longer available from Citroen. Or are they? On service Citroen it lists the later ones, 5271FO left, 5271F1 right, as no longer available. From RPO 08057. However strut tops up to RPO8056 5271E2 left and 5271E5 right are still listed as available. Will the earleir ones fit later cars? Can anyone give more...

Can't help with advice on fixing fan control, but if you find yourself in traffic and overheating you might just get temporary relief by turning heater up full fan on high and open the windows. The heater matrix is a small radiator. Had to do that in my Hillman Hunter going up steep hills in summer, back in the 70's.....

Hi,
I am having some issues with my 1998 1.9TD estate Xantia speedo.
it is according to my sat Naff reading 10miles per hour below what it should be
any ideas please?
Maybe there is some sort of sensor that might need replacing somewhere.

Can somebody please also confirm if this will affect the upcoming MOT?

Where is the EGR valve and how do I take it apart for cleaning can it be done from looking down at engine bay and is it worth switching it off or blanking. My 1998 S2 Xantia estate needed an offside rear sill repair this year, the first bit of welding for a 16 year old car.

I am planning to flush the sills with Waxoil very soon but I am wondering if it would be acceptable for future MOTs
if I drilled some holes in the top of the sills on the doorsteps and put in grommets so that I have access...

I was initially thinking about pulling back the carpets and drilling a 6mm hole in the back of the sills behind the carpets.
This would give me a hole big enough to get a high pressure small gauge tube into.
I'm not to sure about disturbing the seat belt mounts whether its a great idea or not I'll release them and feed them with some lube for 24...
