New key fob remote central locking sync

Post by raynoon »

Car is a 2006 Citroen Berlingo Multispace Desire 1.6hdi

I acquired the codes to have a brand new remote key made up, I bought the key from eBay, got the key cut using the code and I've programmed the chip so the key starts the car.

However, I cannot get the remote central locking to work, I've tried every combination of key pressing ignition on 10 seconds wait procedure, just won't bloody work!

What am I doing wrong? Every Google search only gives info about re-sync after battery replacement, what about syncing a new fob?

It should be the same.

From memory, and if it's the same as the Xsara and C5, then insert the key into the ignition; move the key to the "ign" position and then press and hold either of the lock or unlock buttons for 10 seconds; return to the off position; remove key.

I might be slightly wrong with the last bit of the procedure and you could try instead: insert the key into the ignition; press and hold either of the lock or unlock buttons and move the key to the "ign" position; hold for 10 seconds and then return to the off position; remove key.

Is there an original second remote control key and does it lock/unlock the car?

No original remote key, that the reason I bought a new one. The remote locking is active in lexia too. The key programmed to the car fine and the instructions on lexia were followed.

Was the original key a simple one with no remote? There may be another problem then.

Yes, the keys supplied were 2 non remote type, 1 original and 1 aftermarket.
I now have 3 keys, all are able to manually operate the locks and start the car.

When you say...

...does this mean that, after going through the syncing procedure, when you press one of the buttons that the Lexia shows that it's been pressed?

Ahh.... Don't know about that... Didn't know you could test that?

Went through the programming procedure, all 3 keys programmed, then it was just some text instructing how to re-sync the fob for the central locking.

No, I thought that you were telling me that. It may be possible, I don't know as I've never looked for it.

Without an already working remote we don't know where the fault lies. The new key may be faulty, maybe just the battery even; the synching process might have failed; the receiver on the car may be faulty, etc.

A Lexia session beckons methinks!
