Hi All
I'm changing my right hand driveshaft next week, what is the best suspension setting to do this?
I generally use maximum high for maintenance is that best?
Hope someone can put me right
Thanks Bargeman

To change the driveshaft, you should put the front of the car on axle stands, then put the suspension on its lowest setting with the front wheels hanging down.
Remember to loosen the hub nut first.

Yes! It's bloody annoying if you forget to do it until the front is up in the air....xantia_v6 wrote: Remember to loosen the hub nut first.
Been there and done it

Thanks Guys
That is exactly what I am intending to do, the confirmation is handy, got an electric impact wrench, just waiting for a 35 mm socket to arrive in the post from the UK.
Found out that drive shafts for the AL4 auto box are like moon dust, got a new one sent from Germany at £130 with £25 returnable deposit Thought that was not a bad price.
Thanks again, Bargeman

Hi Xantia V6
Just seen your location, we are a 1/2 hour drive from you in Saint Jean de Losne. Go to Beaun a couple of times a year.
It's a small world. Bargeman

I am 99% sure I have a suitable socket here that you can borrow if that helps.Bargeman wrote: just waiting for a 35 mm socket to arrive in the post from the UK.

Thanks for the offer, Most kind, I'll see what the Postie brings tomorrow or Tuesday. If it doesn't show up I'll get back to you.

If you do forget the hubnut then start the car, brake pedal all the way down and put the handbrake on hard (pretty much as far as it can go).
I made the same mistake and ended up doing it this way! I got a 35mm socket from a local store funnily enough, it was dusty though!!
