ABS Sensor Part No Confirmation?

Post by XantiaExclusiveHDI »

Hi all!

Can anyone clarify if Citroen part: 96113241 is the same as part: 454573

They appear visually identical.

Thanks!

They are not quite identical, and it is not a good idea to interchange them

I've never quite understood what the difference is meant to be here. Can someone elaborate?

When I changed a rear sensor on mine (an s1) I went for a later sensor because they were half the price. The original was metal bodied, the replacement was plastic bodied. In theory metal is more durable but in practise it got stuck solid in the arm and was a total s**t to remove.
I expect the plastic one will also get stuck solid, but at least bit should be easier to smash up come the day it needs to be changed!

The car hasn't been used in anger on the road yet, but as far as I am aware, it works ok. (Another sensor has since carped it though, of course  )

The sensor distances are different on the early ones, i think they changed how they mount them so the newer ones have a longer body and will foul the ring on an earlier car. likewise a later sensor won't sit close enough. I'm not 100% but I think the rears are pretty much identical despite the different part numbers, it'll come down to someone having all of them to hand to check!

The other thing is would they go to the effort of making newer ones if they all interchanged!

edit: wurly Rear ones are the same on s1 and s2 after RPO 07632, so with yours being a 96 you might be just on the cusp of that. As far as price goes I managed to track some down made by Cambiare for about £20 each for the fronts

Can anyone recommend a decent quality manufacturer for these - or know who manufactured the original sensors? Thanks!

Mine were Cambiare, seemed quality. Not sure what you'd get from the likes of ebay unbranded though.

Part number is VE701103 for the Cambiare ones, less than £20 on ebay
