Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

I've been offered a C5, 2.0i petrol engined, with a snapped cambelt. Its a very low mileage, long MOT & quite tidy, so might be a worthy proposition if internal damage is not too bad. What is the likely damage to be? Bent valves, snapped cam caps, snapped camshafts?

I know what happens on the earlier TU engines, but not on these later DW lumps....

I use a rubber-safe high temperature synthetic grease on sliding portions of brakes. Pretty sure you can also use Würth CU800 as it's made with a high temperature synthetic base also. Have seen some OEM assemblies with a PTFE grease on slider pins. It lasts well.

Unless you've actually got a seized piston its not worth doing it if it ain't broke like they say don't fix it.
the sliders will attract road debris, pad dust and grit if you lube them to much a squirt of Wd 40 will suffice to get them moving the sliders should be pretty shiny and polished under the rubber dust covers.

Having succumbed to the infamous tin worm in the rear sill area :( .. the MOT tester was extremely thorough and must have used a crowbar or similar to poke holes in the sill :evil: .. I'd like to ask the members who have had their sills repaired and have done it themselves if there's anything I should do before welding the new sill in place....

Personally I'd register over at the MOT testers forum and ask some questions relating to an MOT tester failing your car on the CV boots and you Not replacing them for a re-test and the fact that they passed on the re-test.

I'm referring specifically, to the Valeo ELE CIM491CT as used in Berlingos and maybe some D8 406s.

When you're programming in a key, what access code are you prompted for (or not at all)? They seem to have a unique five character (hex?) identifier below the barcode. The schematic doesn't really seem to interface with the engine immobiliser...

The one on the top left of the engine mounting it to the drivers side. Hefty rubber bushing.

Totally perished and split. Can anyone cost one up for me? I imagine one has to buy the whole assembly and it's not cheap...

I blanked of my EGR valve the weekend as so many people recommend it, not got any faults just wanted to see if it made a difference.

Today after a trip reset I got more mpg (44.1), never managed this figure before.

Questions are is having the valve blanked long term going to cause faults or warning lights to come on?

Hello.

I have an '02 C5 2.2HDi Estate, and the aircon doesn't work, as the electro-clutch on the compressor pulley won't engage.

On my car, it is a normally on system, and to switch it off, you press the Eco button on the cabin heater panel.

I checked the voltage at the yellow connector at the compressor, and get 7.9v on the live pin, but that...

I now have either have another fault or a extension to the existing one
never any trouble starting but after aftrer 20 mins run it stars to jerk and apperars to miss...

Would I be able to feel a huge difference with Comfort spheres fitted, theres a company online onclick= window.open(this.href);return false; (IFHS spheres) selling 4 for just under £100 non Hydractive. Should I just stick with the standard spheres?

I have never experienced significant pressure loss with stored spheres, they obviously will go down slowly but not nearly as fast as when they are having their pressure drastically increased under working conditions.

The first problem sounds like either the rear height corrector linkage assembly is partially seizing despite the grease you've applied, (they can get very rusty to the point where no amount of in-place grease application will fully free them up) or the manual override linkage adjustment is out.

The compressor should have been cut off by the high pressure switch long before any other part of the system let go , especially a new fitting. Even if the system had been overcharged. If a system has been open to atmosphere, ie a leak, then it is good practice to bleed some nitrogen through it before finally sealing it and pressure testing it....

My Berlingo van is running a bit hotter than usual, this is almost certainly because the fans are not coming on when they should.

I've done a bit of searching on here and seen the advice to disconnect the relays to test the fans but I'm not sure if I'm trying the correct things.

The pic below is what I think may be the relays and may be on top...

I found this via Google - I'm having some issues with my 54 plate 1.9D Berlingo getting hot on the motorway at speeds over 70 or if there is a hill.

Around town and bimbling at 60mph, it is fine and sits at just under 90 C.

Anyone know how to relieve the tension? It's this one: tensioner

Although there (might be!) a hex on the roller, the way it is shown on the picture is the way it is installed on the engine, so no access to the hex. I presume that there is a Citroen tool that fits on the lug at about 2 o'clock on that picture, allowing you to pull the tensioner...

I wanted to replace my C5 (Year 2007 2.0L Petrol) driveshaft inner gaiter (The rubber cover). So I sent the picture of the worn rubber joint as attached to the dealer:

But the dealer given me something that is too small to fit:

Hi , It's time to change the rear spheres on my 06 plate C5 estate . I've done this on the Xantias but what is the procedure on the C5 .
Can the struts be removed with the spheres still attached . Do you have to crack the seal with the suspension on high .

There is a chap on ebay makes an excellent wrench for removing them, didn't have any problem at all with mine from my 2001 estate, as the tool has such a good grip on the sphere a sharp blow with a hammer will release it. Make sure you specify the C5 type as the older one is to small.

As part of preparing for the MOT next week I took off my 18 alloys and put on the 16's. I noticed when changing the drivers side front a little play seems in the hub. Owner of car clearly had dog. Big dog. Another possibility is simple solution and enzyme based spray which the enzyme'eats' the organic odours.

I've used it for years having 4 dogs and 2 kids, between wet dogs and sick kids it appears to work. Any pets shop sells it.

I have a Citroen Xsara Picasso with an after market stereo. The stereo was supplied by HalFRAUDS, who, in true style, have botched the job, so I'm having to put right a lot of the stuff myself (simply because I can't be bothered going back to them).

Hi all,

When I checked my C5 Year 2007 chassis, I found something rubbery that is melting/rotting away. Please refer to the below picture (Notice the big round black spot?):

Is this something critical and in need of immediate attention? Is this part replaceable?

Counter intuitively the ride on the car gets worse when these snubbers are worn out.

The reason is that when you accelerate the rear suspension tries to squat - without the snubber the suspension can fully bottom under acceleration which means you have no suspension travel left should you hit a bump. Also the excessive suspension movement causes...

I have a Citroen Synergie 1999 TD, 170k on clock. Works fine apart from this one intermittent problem.
On attempting to start car, lights come on as expected, when go to start engine, loud click and lights go out. ....dead. Nothing when take key out and put back in again.
Battery is virtually new and fully charged.

Also worth checking that the starter motor itself is properly bolted to the bell housing and that the bolts haven't worked loose as I think it earths through there.

Long, long ago I had the same problem with a (proper) mini - the problem was slight galvanic corrosion between the starter motor face and the bell-housing plus under-tight and rusty...

I felt some bangs from the AL4 gearbox and hooked the Lexaia. I got the Regulating fault . Has anyone experienced this fault ? I tried to track it down and got to the conclusion that it may be the pressure regulation electro valve or the pressure sensor. Is there a way to point which one of the two is failed ? Hi

For time to time when I lifted the car I could see that the gear box is wet, I guess it was ATF ( the liquid was transparent ) , the mechanics told me that I can ignore that leak. As a lesson each six month I'll add ATF. Anyway I am going to detach the gear and sort the leak

My 2006 C5 Exclusive went in for, Clutch, oil change etc. It came back with display flashing so I assume the battery was disconnected. The radio is greyed out in the menu options and it isn’t playing.

It never used to switch off. I presume there is an issue with the on/off button. The manual says that it is paired to the car so there is nothing...

Ok paeking sensors dont work. One was replaced according to dealer receipt that came with car. It also mentions open curcuit on left rear sensor. Can I just replaxe sensor or are we talking about an open wire somewhere/anywhere?

Most of the time I find the sensors fail due to water ingress, normally easily spotted by signs of corrosion on the connector & around the sensor pins.

hey, recently i can feel some steering play. it feels like a positive stop to left-right when jiggling the wheel, and it feels like its on the column. i can feel it with everything turned off. anybody know where to look first ?

hi all, ive just bought a 2nd car for my wife, but soon noticed that there is a slight leak which seems to be comeing from the bottom of the water pump casing theres like a brown plug on the bottom of the casing and it drips from there, the pump has gone as can hear the bearing rattleing, my question is do i need to replace the complete pump...

thanks for the replys, i have now changed the water pump, belts and tensioners and all seems fine now, heater is gettting nice and hot and expansion tanks is now getting hot which i assume is how it should be, old water pump was not spinning looks like the shaft had broke, will keep an eye on it now for a few days to make sure it all stays the same

Certainly seems that the alternator is leaking but 0.09 amps shouldn't cause a problem, that would take 100 hours to discharge 1ah. If you disconnect the earth lead you are still disconnecting the alternator only from the other end. Leave the meter in circuit for a while and check it occasionally to make sure the current is not rising again.

Hi,
I've posted two posts and both show on the board with a grey arrow and a grey circle on the envelope, all other posts seem to have a red arrow and no circle. Have I done something wrong when posting? Does the grey arrow and circle mean something? I sent a message to the forum admin last week but have had no reply.

I have a Xantia 2.0 make year 2000 with auto gear box AL4. I notice that there is ATF leak where the gear box is attached to the engine. I guess there is an oil seal at the converter. I browsed the Citroen service for the part number but could not find it. Any one knows if there is an oil seal and its part number. Any idea for the leaking ?...

My car failed it's MOT because these were described on the failure notice as 'obviously defective' - because after squirting, they didn't retract fully into the bumper.

I got new wipers but I can't for the life of me figurr out how to remove the old ones. They are the flat type and seem bolted on. How do I get them off?

Also related. I used Halfords website to identify Bosch Aerotwin A310S as the correct type and then bought them from wipersdirect. Thing is it says Mondeo on the back?

I need to fit a new T.R.E. to my 2004 Picasso. Other than the problem of separating the taper on the old one, is there any other difficulty? I intend measuring as carefully as possible the current geometry, so I can set the new end to be just the same.

Hi All,

Fitted new pipes to the old Xantia plumbing and no leaks from them but the rear o/s cylinder is leaking from seal location it is the usual problem excessive wear to the cylinder its self.
There are 2 problem areas and will use the Dowty seal method employed by Chris (c.morewood) previously posted.
