Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

I did it, I changed the blasted radius arm bearings. When the car is working, hopefully passed the MOT, I will drive to France and find the idiot on the production line who put the damn clip on the gaitor in a position that was impossible to reach. Then I will find the person who decided that the pin which rusts into the arm was a good design....

Thanks for the patience, this is turning into an epic job. I have the radius off, even got the blasted pin out, but now the rod has come apart. I think it is a push fit, but not sure. Does the fat end fit into the cup?

if the push rod has come out of the gator, it will be far easier to refit it with the gator removed from the ram, this way you can feed the cup of the push rod in from the large opening of the gator, as its one heck of a game trying the feed it in from the small end, and you risk tearing the edge of the small end using the later approach

Not really, on my Activa I found it was an illusion due to the wings not being accurate and thus resulting in theheir edges sitting at different heights relative to the top of the tyres..

Do a proper ride height check by measuring from the subframes and you may find all is well....

Changing radius arm bearing, retaining pin broken, gaitor off, not enough room to remove rod. Need to know how to move rear suspension mount out of way.

It will come out... you might need to remove the sphere to allow you to push the piston right back in, and the R-clip that holds the suspension unit in place to allow it to slop about a bit. Probably worth unclipping the feed pipe too, so you don't wreck it. It does require a lot of wriggling to get the arm in the right position to allow the rod...

RE: Citroen C5 2.0 HDI hatchback 2006.

Needing two new tyres I checked all the online sites for tyres using the car's registration number. Selected the tyres I wanted, then double checked the size against what were fitted on the car. 215 / 55 / 16 - 97 W but the spare was a 93W a different loading value. I rang my local Citroen...

As many know , I carry heavy loads a lot, these are my choice.
They have saved the car once and I find them very good on wet/muddy roads as well as fast A roads.
They seemed a little noisy but are very comfortable.

Hi

My front accumulator (1998 2.1 TD sx ) is clicking a lot, and would now like to change it before it effects anything else.

My question is, is ok to just change the front accumulator, or do all the spheres at once?

Also do the breaks have to be bled if only the front accumulator is changed?

Advice always appreciated.

I cannot promise that it wasn't due to the suspension being high, as there could be pressure on the system.

Spheres rupture when their internal pressure drops too low. This is why they need to be replaced (or re-gassed) every couple of years or so.

I am replacing the radius arm bearings on a mk1 xantia, offside. I did the nearside a couple of years ago. Last time I got the pin out, this time it has sheared. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement pin?

If the pin is stuck, and already broken, then chances are it will be nigh on impossible to remove in situ. Lots of info linked here: onclick= window.open(this.href);return false; Best just remove the arm complete with the cylinder push rod, then sort it out on the bench / floor afterwards. Any pin will do really, all it does is stop the push road...

Drive up road and get to about 1900revs and it just dies.
If you switch off the ignition and take the key out, and put it back in again,

1998 Xantia 1.8i 5 Door Hatchback.

I have a dashcam installed in my car

My previous car was a Xsara and it was installed in there as well,

it was wired into the switched positive of the radio so that as soon as I started the car it would turn on and start recording.

This worked a treat until I got this Xantia

My facelift C5 has started wearing its rear tyres more towards the outside of the tread than the inside.
I'm familiar with this sort of wear due to radius arm bearing failure, but every example I've come across has worn the tyres more toward the centre.
There are no other symptoms, so I'm wondering if anyone else has seen this sort of wear, either...

Mine were worse worn on the inside if I remember before I had a radius arm bearing done. I replaced the tyres since and haven't noticed any wear so far, but I've only done maybe 2000 miles on them. If I remember back I think my old mk 1 wore them on the inside but it took 25000 miles to notice.

That suggests it is probably a 'back door' into the configuration systems, in case the security card was not available.
No they are both different & cant be used in place of each other. The security code is just for security related things like coding keys & coded control units, the 03114 code is just for changing certain configurations. The code...

What would a 2001 Xantia Forte 110 Hdi Hatch sell for (cheaper tax bracket with 116k)

Have ended up in a rather difficult situation. Didn't know better ...

Made in the following manner:
- The pulley on the old diesel pump, locked with two bolts.
- The old diesel pump was then screwed out of the car.
- The old immobilizer was moved to the new pump
- Assembled in the new diesel...

Thi applies to all Xantia Estate owners .. check under you boot mat and see if its damp.. also have a check under your rear seats to check for damp there. If you find some water under there then here's a permanent solution.

hi,ive got a c5 hdi 138bhp ,2005 ,its done 59k,ive owned it for three years,reg serviced etc,was just wondering on when i should look at getting cambelt changed?

Today whilst overtaking a slow moving car, I closed the drivers side window which was open about 20cm as it shut complete I heard a loud bang and almost glass like shattering, drivers window is fully intact from what I can see but the window dropped I tried to close it but the mechanism was working but no window up/down. It should be OK, and all the parts that could fail have replacements. I cannot say if they are better than others, as I have not used either of them.

Is your mechanism like the one you posted e-bay link to? If so, when you need it I can (probably) tell you how to 're-string' it.

I replaced the difficult to access clock light today and thought whilst I was in there I would try to fix the lower fan/temp display light just below the radio. however on removing the troublesome bulb holder all the other lights on that circuit went out.. everything that is dimmable. Thank you Gingerposter... Sorted out the lights... the car's handbook was completely wrong. The fuse F19 was labelled sidelights.. when it actually is the internal rheostat fuse.
Ainslie (gingerposter) gave me a more up to date version of the Haynes manual today which had the latest wiring diagrams.. even then the wiring diagram was correct but...

i have a customers 05 Bling go 1.9D in for a MOT today,

the horn dose not work with the ignition on of if the key is left in after switching the ignition off,

if the key is completely removed from the ignition lock the horn will work every time, even if the key is re/inserted but without switching the ignition on,

defiantly looks like an...

Hi Guys

Just noticed there is a small 'green' button under the fuel filler cap on my V6, it is pushed in by the cap as it is screwed on.

What is this button for anyone?

I wonder. Is it possible that the green button locks the flap in the closed position, thereby sealing the tank and preventing fumes getting out through the filler point, and limiting petrol escaping in the event of an accident?

No - with the button pushed in or left out and the car locked, the flap is free to open.

I've just done another quick oil change on the trusty 106D and the filter I've had floating around for a few months was an AL code.

I thought that the Citroën equivalent of the Peugeot filter (1109T0) was a T1 ?

Is the AL an older filter (old stock?) unless part numbers have...

Hi.
I recently bought the electric seats from a vsx along with some other stuff...

Came home took the sx+ pack cuir leather seats off... to find out i dont have the electrocal instalation to make them move...

Has someone from here made that instalation by himself that can help me out with a diy?

Or should I just go to a professional car...

Long ago I made some posts about this very subject. A search should find them but basically you need the harnesses to go with the seats if you want the heating to work, and the heating controller rheostats.

The harnesses are stand-alone and easy to remove complete from the donor vehicle.

If you just want them motorable you can get away without...

The car has started making a sort of raspberry noise when locking/unlocking and I've just discovered that the noise is coming from the filler flap mechanism and the flap is stuck shut.
Fortunately I'm not that low on fuel but I need to get it sorted pdq. I'm sure there was a recent thread on this subject but I can't find it, can anyone help with...

Thanks Simon, I'll give it a wiggle then and try to get it open, I assume that to lubricate I'll have to get the trim off inside, or would loosening off that visible nut give access?
I was thinking more about spraying penetrating lubricant down the shaft of the pin - easiest to do with the flap already open of course! But spraying it in the gap...

Despite having a full service history, the rear discs on the new C5 looked well past their best. I bought new discs and pads from Brakes International, I've used them for years with no complaints.

I managed to go under the car today and have a look where the leak is coming from and took some pictures.
Where would you say the leak is coming from?

I have put on the correct citroen clamp,
however there is a hole on the boot (passenger rear side), and the other side (driver rear side) the boot has a bigger hole (however no leak)
So this lead me to believe that I have leaky seals as well, as the fluid seems excessive.
So before I do anything else, I will order the seals, as well as one more...

Strange behaviour from the Activa yesterday. After 100m or so, the STOP light came on. I soon noticed that the car felt hard, like it hadn't risen properly. Rattiva 2, the Xantia 110 HDi is finally dead.

As both my bro and I have C5 MK1 110HDi cars, I was wondering if there's anything at all worth keeping from the Xantia. In tank pump? Injectors? HP pump?

If anyone wants the whole car as a spares car, make an offer. It'll be scrap value. It just about runs due to HGF.

Just deep cleaning the new car ( I HATE HAIRY DOGS !) both in and out as I find it a most excellent way of spotting all the little points and defects that are so easy to miss....

I removed one of the rear lateral windows on my CX Prestige as rust showing underneath on like the sill bit, to chop out completely needed to remove window.
Any how was fixed on with a thick rubber adhesive strip and some kind of silicone.
Does any body know where I can get the rubber strip or similar and what it's actually called.

Just as the title says, really... I replaced the resistor, simply because I had one lying around. A quick check of wires shows no live entering the back of the switch, but mysteriously, there is a permanent live at the fan motor. Motor moves freely, and fuse is intact. Confused, cold and more than a bit steamed up when it rains. It's a '97/'98 ZX...

You'll probably find that its dirty or burnt contacts in the ignition switch, as Citroen, in their wisdom, ran full power for the fan through the ignition switch contacts. You might find wiggling the ignition key in the lock might induce the fan to work.

06 c4 boot keeps sticking. The release makes a helluva noise but the boot wont open. This is intermittent but getting worse. I have oiled but still not great. Any ideas?

Hi, take it youve tried climbing into the boot and sticking a screwdriver into the little hole in the latch mechanism to see how that operates and sounds.
once opened i'd strip the panelling to see if water ingress has damaged either lock or actuator (if fitted).

My VSX looks a bit low at the back (I'll check it properly when the snow stops), how do I alter the ride height if it's low?

Haynes manual recommends taking it to a dealers, don't want to do that.

Look at the way the roll bar is connected to the wheels and work out which way the roll bar would turn for a height increase or decrease.

Adjust the height corrector clamp in the opposite direction to this.

1997 Xantia 1.8i 5 door hatchback.

My drivers side lock just spins without unlocking the door but the passenger side lock works perfectly.

Can I remove the two locks and swap them around so the drivers side has the better lock?

I never unlock my car by the passenger side unless i have no choice in the matter like the key not working on the...

I'm thinking of fitting an alarm to my 2009 berlingo van and was wondering if there was anything that could be switched on using a lexia and fitting a siren? I know that cruise control can be activated and a cruise control stalk fitted, just wondering if the alarm would be similar.
