C5 Parts in UK

Unread post by kev1952 »

I live in Australia and generally the only way to get parts for my 2007 C5 Hatch are from the dealers at sky high prices. Can someone recommend some places in the UK I could try? Specifically looking for a high brake light assembly (new or used). In Oz the dealers wants about $350.00 AUD for it and the wreckers all say they haven't got one (probably true). Any help would be much appreciated.

If were thinking of the same part the price new from a dealer is the equivalent of $77 Australian dollars :o
Sadly its coming up as no longer available from the factory.
For parts in the future I would look a striking up a relationship with a UK main dealer as even with postage it looks like you would be a fraction of the price for stuff

There are usually a number being broken for spares on UK Ebay if you can access that , I think some of them will post internationally.

The company I got the auto gearbox off had just started breaking the car it was a 2008 model, maybe worth asking them.

Trading as French Car Parts, name is very Eastern European Aija Vaka at Bexhill on Sea with phone number +44 7578598974.
Was quick to respond to my questions and delivered the box quite quickly.

Thanks for all your replies. Will definitely check out the one being wrecked. Can someone give me the trading name(s) of the major dealers in the UK? I do believe I can buy a lot cheaper and have parts shipped than I can in Oz.

This is my nearest main dealer, we have a smaller one closer to home but they get their supplies from here.

Or just buy online like everyone else, after all few people here patronise main dealers.

There are some parts that main dealers do at a better price than the aftermarket sellers/factors, it's often worth asking about the genuine item before committing.

Of course there'll always be anomolies but, for me, at least, there's also the inconvenience/aggravation factor, which pretty well rules them out.
