Alternator on the berlingo.

The alternator on beryl is only putting out 11.7 volts, therefore not charging the battery properly, so it hasnt enough kick to start it. There appears to be 4 or maybe even 5 types of alternator. I wonder if any of you kind gents can look up service citroen for a check of what mine has fitted. 94260507 last 8 of chassis number, SB06 EWN registration number. Much thanks in advance.

How bad does the alternator look? if it's not too bad maybe it'd be quicker/easier/more economical to replace the brush/reg/rec pack.

Ive ordered an alternator from mr auto. I will inspect the old one when it comes out. If its worth refurbishing that will happen, if not it will be the skip for orders.

It should be a 70amp one - it could be any one of about 5 makes fitted. Is the dash light not on? It's possible if the bulb is gone then there is no exciter voltage getting to the alt. Or the brushes could be so knackered there's no contact at all!

I know I was not impressed with mr Auto before, but now I am never going to buy anything from them ever again. The alternator I bought and paid 8 quid extra for next day delivery first of all took 3 days to arrive. Secondly, after fitting it todayi it does not work. Zilch voltage from it. Nothing at all. And thats with putting the volt meter onto the terminal of the alternator and the casing of the alternator. To say I am pissed off is an understatement

Bad luck, despite my dire warnings about Mr Auto, found on their reviews, couple of times of dealt with them everythings been fine.

Ok, just off the phone to mr auto. A new alternator will be sent express delivery, to arrive within 24 hours of dispatch and they will also send a postage label to send the faulty one back. I should have claimed garage labour for changing it, which would have been cheeky, but plausible! It should be despatched today, I bet it will not arrive tomorrow lol. As long as the van is running for friday its acceptable. If its not running on friday then I will not be amused as bigpug or lilpug will have to go on food deliveries, which is a real nono.

So according to mr auto said alternator was despatched at 17.31 last night. 25 hours later despite their 24 hour guaranteed delivery promise its not here, my guess is it will arrive tomorrow morning, when I will be out, so then that will delay it until thursday. They have sent me by email a customer feedback form. I will be filling it up with my opinion, but only after I have a working alternator or a refund.

Alternator now arrived, just before I go out. Hopefully it will get fitted later this afternoon, if not it will get fitted tomorrow.

Only just got this sorted out. The second bolk alternator did not work either. I found a scrappy berlingo 1.9 and got the genuine valeo alternator off it for 20 quid. Its fitted and chucking out 14.4 volts with the engine running, the battery light working as it should. I now have two brand new bolk alternators which physically fit in a 1.9 dw8 engine but dont charge my berlingo!

I think those alternators are of Oriental origin, as the Chinese cannot say the "R" sound. Those alternators are "borked"!
