Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Hi, just about to change hand brake cables on my S2 Xantia. my question is; are there any differences between S1 and S2. as I have changed the cables on my S1 but not my S2. Cheers Terry.

There is a difference in length on the L/H brake cable, depending on the gearbox fitted. I cannot recall the lengths, but I know that the cable for a Xantia with the ML5T gearbox is longer (and more difficult to get hold of). Check out CitroJims thread about replacing the clutch on Davie Activa (as the handbrake cables needed to be changed).

Hi, my plip key unlocks the car ok but recently the Near Side rear door will not open using the external lever, (Have to reach inside to unlock manually)

The leather seats in my C5 came from an HPI, in the scrap yard with relatively few miles on it. I wouldn't normally recommend LPG as that can be complicated as well but if you can get a conversion for a reasonable price it might well be worth while.

Hi everyone. I posted a while ago regarding my radio/sat nav issues. I have resolved that by having an after market radio fitted. Thanks for all the advice given. Niw i wish to replace all four discs and pads. I can get them off the internet, but i am being asked to check the disc size. They could be either 283mm or 288mm size. I cannot see...

Hi
I have petrol leaking and pooling on top of the fuel pump. It's not obvious where the leak is coming from. I suppose it is possibly leaking from fuel hoses ((quick connecting coupler) or fuel pump/tank seal but can't confirm. Are there any other possibilities?
And what's the most common area of failure?
If quick connectors failed, is it...

The red one is the Push to Break switch, and is used to disconnect the Cruise Control. The white one Push to Make, and is for the brake lights. However, there is also the possibility you may have both switches combined (and the wiring will have 4 strands), and that is what Bluebird has.

I want to install a towing bar on my 2007 (mkii) C5 (petrol) and I'm bothered by two questions. first, is it mandatory to install what I was told clever electrical system . Hi Avi - Just have a read of Vaborovic's posts in the thread as Xantia V6 says. It's not just the Parking sensors that are deactivated - but once a proper wiring kit is used, the ABS / ESP / ASR system is aware you are towing and uses a different set of laws to ensure the vehicle safety systems compensate for this.

Glad you got it sorted. I'll swear there is a unit at Peugeot/Citoen that spends its times trying to design clips etc that can be impossible to fit unless you have the dear pukka dealer tools. Suppose other firms have the same unit.

Car designers have little interest in how we fix the damned things when they go wrong, they just concentrate on...

Isn't possible when automatic headlamp lighting is activated during the day to have active daytime running lights?

I have a friend who has a wv Tuareg and he has an option for that. Does Citroen has something similar or Maybe a Lexia activated option ?

If you have DRL's working when there is no main beam, then everything is fine. The DRL's will actually work with the main beams (when dark), but will dim considerably to act as the sidelamp. If you enable the simultaneous lighting of DRLs and Sidelamps on the DRL headlamp, what will actually happen is that the DRL light won't glow as the DRL but...

Hope one of you guys can help me out here - I have an oil leak on my 1.6 hdi Berlingo, 2008 model.

The leak appears to be coming from a seal or gasket where this oil cooler block bolts onto the engine immediately near / below the oil filter housing...

Can someone please illuminate me and tell me what this is called so I can get a...

Ok, I think I've found it... the whole section where the oil filter attaches to the engine block is tunneled and acts as the oil cooler:

This image shows the 2 wiggley oil seals:

So the seal I want is the 'Engine Oil Filter Body Gasket' & to remove and replace it I have to drain the oil & coolant too.

Hi, I have an old Picasso with a key stuck in the ignition. I've stripped it down ready to replace the barrel and wiring but I can't depress the buttons that release it as the key won't turn. Is there a way of getting it out without resorting to grinding it out? I'm surprised it seized as the pollen filter was replaced at the beginning of the year...

But the starter relay mod is not due to any failure of the ignition switch, and has nothing to do with excessive current, so is of no relevance here.

C5 2.2hdi estate 2002, 112k - I've previously posted questions and had some great support, so an update on what was my last real bummer - no speedo or odo. I swapped the abs module and block as there was no communication, and despite searching in the UK and the rest of the world in many languages it seemed I was on my own with this...

As far as I am aware there is no time/distance specified for LDS replacement, merely that it is inspected after five years.
There are (I'm told) bleed points at the front and rear.

Can be done without a Lexia but only a Lexia can completely depressurise the system - drops the car lower than the lowest selectable height - right to the bump stops I...

Been looking at some speakers to replace my 6 year old Kenwoods, did not look into it much when I got the current speakers.

I know I need 16.5-17cm, my head unit is a 2010 kenwood bt60u unit which was the top model in its day and says 4 x 50 but not sure if this is peak or RMS.

Now is higher Sensitivity better, do I need 50w rms speakers or...

Hi all, I'm having a devil of a job trying to undo the steel pipe to flex hoses. Access is very limited as others have noted... I cannot get enough space to actually undo the already rounded nut, (so it has to be Mole grips and or my new Bachos :wink:) . How much of the car do I have to dismantle? Seems it may require the drive shaft and wishbone...

Yep it's a bank 1 code just came up on the car I just bought off the daughter for £500.

Now I know the car has just had the timing belt replaced so am assuming that the head gasket was replaced to as the valves got bashed. Added to this it did have some oil contamination in the coolant before the belt went that is no longer present after a system...

On the MK1 C5 there is a button to the right of the steering wheel that when pressed simply says traffic master. Is it correct that traffic master is now no longer supported, am i correct in assuming it gave traffic alerts?

Hi, my 2003 C5 2.0 hdi has given me a new headache; when driving 40/50mph and generally moving the engine temp is fine the needle is in the middle.

if i come accross some traffic on the way to work and im using mainly 1st and 2nd gear for 10min the needle starts to rise, but usually by the time it gets to the red section i get moving normal...

I have a XSARA PICASSO 2.0HDI
remote keys same as in picture and I have two.
Work fine in lock and opens closes doors but not off the remote buttons on keys.
Replaced batteries, done key programming sequence loads with no avail.
Both start car but sometimes one will not but after I start it with the other key and knock it off...

OK a question please,
My Keys x2 after I did the key reset procedure will not work remotely off the buttons.
BUT they do work by using the door locks.
Been like this since I got the car last week.

Hi Guyyyys.
So I got me a Citroen Dispatch, 07. Yesterday. Short Mot so I gota get my finger out and fix a few things.
The ABS light is on. I connected up Launch pro diagnostic jobber and it said Rear right hand wheel speed sensor
signal open circuit or short to earth or short to battery.
So I jacked up the said rear right wheel spun it and...

Thank you, I'm ok now though thank's. I have removed the old sensor (found the connector) and fitted another. Cleared the fault code and it seems to be ok now it says no abs faults and no light on the dash etc. But big thank you for the offer to help.

Couldn't find anything about this - 2004 model, low miles (70k). Rear wiper comes on from time to time. If car has been left - for an hour or a couple of days - when a door opened, on comes the rear wiper! Sweeps 6 times (~) then parks where it likes. Seems to be ok if switched 'on' or also if I go in reverse when front wipers are 'on'. Sometimes...

Ok having got the dreaded P0420 code I'm juggling as to if it's a sensor or the cat? Who recons it's more likely to be a sensor and who would go with the cat?
If it turns out to be the cat how easy or difficult are they to remove off a C3 2002 1.4 petrol?

Found my coolant FULL of engine oil today! (No water in oil though.) :(
1. Any hope it might just be oil cooler failure? Or am I just fooling myself? We're talking a LOT of oil in the coolant here...

2. If it's the gasket - is it a practical proposition for DIY replacement?

Agreed, the increased sleep waiting times are worthwhile and do make sure you touch nothing during the wait, I don't know how significant it is but we can judge when our 206 goes to sleep from the instrument panel, after a minute or so there's a slight almost imperceptible twitch from the gauges and that's it gone to bed ...

I have read somewhere on the internet about how the Citroen 6-speed adaptive gearbox (AM6C) operates, and have lost the info/link, even after spending time going through my history so, can anyone please confirm what I think I remember?
1, Initially on cold start-up the gearbox ECU will hold gears for a little longer to build engine temperature...

it looks the same as the wheel on the later Phase II Xsaras (non-Picasso) which I was considering fitting to my 2003 C5. I didn't get very far along the process but I did ascertain that the Xsara wheel is about an inch smaller in diameter. it's also firmer to hold so I don't think it'll melt the same way as the C5 one does. I never got any further...

I helped my brother buy a 1.9 Berlingo van, Unfortunatly i missed that there is a lot of black oil in the water :oops: ! The engine runs and drives well, doesnt use water or over heat. I remmeber that its not unknown on the hdi engine the oil cooler leaks, could it be doing it in the berlingo its a 1.9 ( like xud) engine

It used to be the case (and may still be) that cheaper washing up liquids used common salt as a thickener. This would certainly have a very bad effect on any aluminium or its alloys.

Well today I opened my box with the Lexia inside and found two unknown CD's with no instructions on and a lot of cables. Well to cut a long story short I am completely bewildered by it all and have decided to send it all back.

Not really although I prefer the handling of the 406, its just that four days before we were going on holiday it emptied the entire contents of the cooling system through the exhaust, looked like a '50s smog, could be the head gasket but I think its more likely that the head is cracked, Its now parked at the top of the field with my original 406...

So I bought a Bosch pump from eurocarparts 'cos I didn't want to pay through the nose at my friendly local Citroen stealer - but it didn't come with a big massive seal that (I think) goes between the tank and the pump.
I would have thought it's a part of the pump kit - is it meant to come with one?
If not, where do you normally get parts - I don't...

Hello all,

While I was messing around with my alternator today, I noticed this. I've only just got the car (new to french cars as a whole) and its really solid everywhere else and has done 60K miles only. I'm keen to keep it as my everyday car as the interior etc is in very good condition, engine bay is very clean etc and I haven't seen another...

My thoughts exactly, on typing the previous reply the location of the expansion tank itself on our 206 HDi was in my mind. that looks quite low in relation to the head, and although it *may* only present an issue on replacement of coolant if not bled properly, it's still not the best placement IMO.

Strange how some designs have this flaw and...

Yup.

My airbag light is flashing constantly. It did this when I bought the car, and I sorted it by disconnecting the battery then taking apart all the wiring connectors under the front seats and attacking them with copious amounts of contact cleaner.

However, it's started flashing again, and the technique mentioned above has not helped this time...

I have an error message on my Lexia (gearbox diagnosis section) which states ECU + permanent supply open circuit . Does anyone know where I may get some advice as to what exactly is the problem. Would an ECU repairer be a likely help. The vehicle is a C4 1.6 HDI pilotless 6 speed gearbox of 2007 vintage. Problem caused by positive lead touching...

Hello there :)
I own a c5 exclusive tourer est 2.0 hdi auto
The rear door is automatic but only works 50% of the time, which can be annoying because when it decides not to work... You have to force it shut or open and battling the resistance just feels wrong but there's no other options.
Does anyone know what might be causing this?
