Recently bought a '57 C5 hdi estate.
There is a problem with the cruise control. Sometimes it works but mostly have an advisory that the C/C is faulty.
Any ideas of the cause & rectification?

Re: C5 cruise control
Several - but CC is usually deactivated when there is a problem with the engine or the ABS / ESP system. Best to get it read with Lexia and put the fault codes up.
If it is a temporary fault, you'll find the CC will work for a while until the same fault reoccurs, then it will be deactivated again by the Engine ECU.

If you don't have any other problems, the brake light switch is a possible candidate.
Had a similar issue on my old mk2 C5
