Would anybody know if the screw on cap on the hydraulic fluid reservoir is available from Citröen without the rest of the tank?

Yes, part no 4009V9 @ £19.87, same for Mk2 and 3 cars; Mk1 has a different part no.

It’s either time to start visiting breakers yards or pull the front bumper off to retrieve the cap from under and behind the headlight!

It's a pressure relief valve integrated into the cap for the later replacement part (4009V9), so a Blue Peter, top off a fairy liquid washing up bottle won't quite cut it
