Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Oh, woe is me!

When I started the car this morning from cold I got huge clouds of white smoke and the car missed a bit. I got out and checked and smoke did not smell of oil. I drove it for a mile and the smoke went but after 10 miles it overheated as I got to work. I let it cool down then topped up the water (perhaps 1 litre). It drove back home...

OK so I purchased some Brembo front brake flexis from GSF based on my reg - now I'm wondering if they are the correct length... I've seen lengths of 355mm & 370mm mentioned - the longer hose for the V6 & HDI 110 IIRC?

The drivers side front window won't fully raise and even if assisted manually to the fully closed postion it still drops within a short time. It's only by 6mm or so but it still causes alot of wind noise.
Is there a typical problem that causes this fault or do I need to change the whole window mech?

Hi all, I'm looking for a bit of advice. I've seen a slow leak from the steering, took it to my local garage who diagnosed a high pressure pipe at £450 to fit......only it hasn't cured it. He's thinking it must be the rack but it sounds expensive, any thoughts / experience you guys can share please?

I think it's the input shaft seals that citroen don't sell. Be prepared though, as there have been cases where the seals don't seem to last it seems. I think that's why Citroën just replace the whole thing! Good luck with it anyway.

I'm looking into a poor running problem, suspect 1 injector is down, done some minor tests so far and awaiting decent weather :rofl2: and time after work to conduct more tests to clarify faulty components.

is it possible to simply swap the injectors or do they require recoding?

If they do need recoding has someone got a guide to inputting the...

You are meant to replace the pipes every time they are removed but ive re used loads without any problems.
They are not meant to be done up too tight either, only around 25-30 Nm from memory

This is a follow on from a request I submitted in a slightly irrelevant earlier post when I'd had a brain fuse and couldn't work out how to create a new post.
The immobiliser on my C5 2.2 HDi Mk1 has failed on me. Great efforts by an impressively knowledgeable Green Flag engineer failed to rekindle it so it's static on my drive...

Hi lads, the c5 is leaking oil around the doser valve she is a 2.0hdi 8v ive tried numerous liquid gaskets, all the dosers I see on ebay have a green gasket but mine is black so i thought i'd be clever and buy a green OEM gasket which of course is 10mm bigger so is wider than the intake so chocolate screw driver territory, any way has anyone any...

I had a look at that link its a different shape i have however found a different type of elbow for the intake and it has stopped the oil leak. I now need to figure out if i can disconnect the electrovalve or do I block off the vacuum hoses I think the new elbow is off a 307 or a 406 but fits perfectly. It leaves the other issues to...

Hello all, I must have bought a real lemon when I bought my 2008 C5. As previously posted my car developed a problem of turning over but not firing. Finally got it repaired, the fault being a relay in the main fuse box not sending current to the fuel pump. Whilst that was being sorted out the starter motor failed, caused by the 'field coils'...

Afternoon, just dine a 3 hour journey in my C4 Picasso. Couple of warnings began to flash, being a distance away from home it's making me a bit nervous fir the drive back. Advice would be great.

1) PDF chance of blockage warning? I take it I'm gonna need this replacing? Can I clean it? Is it a simple diy job? Would it be okay to drive 3 hours...

Just an update, went to a garage today. Last minute job, guy was nice enough but in all honesty pretty useless. In order to fault find he was quite prepared to replace each part bit by bit to rule everything out. Starting with the cheapest parts first and then working his way up the list. He actually read the tips off here and said it was sound...

I'm on my 6th Citroen - my first C5 - which I have owned for 5 years. Reg: Sept 2005, Mileage 96000. It's played well up until this last 6 months.
After it's last MOT (Sept 2015) it developed a leak NS front - long story, but it ended up at the local Citroen dealers with a bill of £1600+.

Anyone able to help.

My mums car

She was driving down the road and suddenly lost all drive.

No previous issues.

Car displays a dash where the gear symbol should be and will not change.

Have tried resetting with no joy.

Awaiting a fault scan as well at present.

Battery is flashing and eco mode as well. Reads @ 12.7 volts

No noises, clunks...

Today I made up a cable as per the wiki page for the rt4 usb connection. I attached it to the connector on the back of the rt4 and then found I would have to alter the unit to use the usb.

Story so far:
Early June we lose keys to car. Key and immob codes obtained from local dealer (FOC).
Contact local auto-electrician to cut new key and programme new key to CPH/ECU.
After a week he declares he is unable to read the CPH with his lexia and advises unlocking ECU. We decline and look elsewhere.
A week later we contact another...

The title says it all really, any advice? The steering wheel used to turn with a finger now its worse than it used to be without the engine on.
My thoughts are; air in the line, or the steering rack not sitting properly. I keep the UJ greased having experienced that before so I don't think its that. Is there anything else I should be thinking...

Anyone know which fuse and in engine or glovebox fuse box controls the coolant fan? I noticed today the gauge travels right up to over 100 degrees, the drops slowly to about 85, sits at 85 for a while,then the same happens . Fan is not cutting in but obviously thermostat is working as the temperature drops. Any way f testing the sensor?

Hellp guys, just want to know what's the best way on going about fitting a inner track rod on near side, the car in question is a CITROEN picasso 2.0 HDI 2005, thanks for help in advance

Haynes manual tells you to use a specialist tool to remove the rod from the rack, and generic tools are available from Machine Mart and eBay etc.

However, I've heard that a pipe wrench can be use just as efficiently.

When I did mine on the C15 (& from what's been writ they're all much of a muchness) I used a small pair of Stilsons. From memory,...

Hi all I have been advised that the front suspension arm bushes are worn on my xantia and I am not sure what they are exactly, can someone point me in the right direction please, grateful for any advise many thanks

Many thanks for your reply Marc, the demo looks a bit crude but at least I know what it is now, would you know if the arms can be bought with the bushes already fitted, if so where can I buy them as I have looked on a couple of suppliers websites and they don't come with bushes fitted.

Leaking fuel yet it flew through the MoT???? or is this something that's developed since the test?

Either way, I'd suggest that if it's leaking along a seam and not pinholed/weakened by rust at the bottom then a good tank sealant would be the best route forward. If it does have a rusty bottom, depending how bad it is, you could get it...

Hi

I know it's getting long in the tooth (17 yrs and 135 k m) but when we use the Xantia 2 l 16v auto (Petrol) it is generally for hundreds of miles on quiet night motorways, so I'm thinking of fitting a Rostra 250-1223 Universal kit from the USA.

Has anyone any experience of fitting one or any other type, or any reason not to or things to watch...

My V6 had the cam belt changed at the 75k service when the car had only done 28k and was 8 years old, it was changed because the previous owner took it to the main dealer every years for a full service regardless of the mileage.

The car is only at 54k now BUT it's 8 years since the cam belt was changed.

So what to do?

Any ideas chaps

I replaced the belt, including rollers and water pump, at approx 37,000 km and when the car - XM - was 7 years old. The belt still looked pristine. I am told the belt on this engine is very sturdy. I am happy I did the job though as it gave me piece of mind :-D

If you allow for the fact there are a lot of electronics in the modern cars, running a proper shutdown routine can allow it to flush out any glitches. If there is a real problem this almost certainly will not be cleared.

Think of it as shutting down a PC properly. This will allow it to start up from fresh next time you turn it on.

I have a noise when I turn the steering wheel, after turning the engine on doing manoeuvres to start rolling, I don't know how to explain better.

Hello,

I started looking into my brake lights not working and I seem to be hitting a wall. Working on a 2005 Citroen C5 Estate.
My Problem: Both the Left and Right Brake lights are not working. However the high mounted centre light works fine. Starting at the lights, I pulled the bulbs and changed them with the tested and working reverse bulbs....

C5 X7 has rear view mirrors that are naturaly folding and automatically retract when the car is turned off and on, and when it comes on, they return to the working position.

Having replaced turbo and intercooler my van on start up idles lovely apply revs and it omits dark clouds of smoke as if over fuelling. Garage at a loss as no warning lights also no faults in diagnostics. It's a business delivery vehicle and off the road for three weeks! Any help much appreciated

A very strange problem for an Hdi. What colour is the smoke, I don't think it can be excess fuel or the engine would run away, I think its more likely that its being injected at the wrong time. If its blue/white smoke its unburnt fuel which could be due to an injector problem. Has the cam belt been changed recently?

After a dilemma I think I have decided to buy an ECU kit for my Picasso 2.0 HDI on a 2004 reg.
Can I assume that if I do the following it should be OK
Get kit, ECU / BSI / Ignition barrel and keys
______
2, unplug old ECU and plug new one in.
3, Unplug and plug new BSI in
4, replace ignition barrel.
5 turn on ignition and start car

Quick update...The car has apparently already had a ECU kit change,
I ran lexia on it and it came back with a different vin number that is stored in the ECU
So I took a not of it and contacted Citroen again ( They will be sick of me )
They gave me the transponder code for the vin I have scanned in lexia, so now hopefully I can get keys done.

My 04 Dispatch 1.9 won't fire up, no glow plug warning lights,no engine management light with ignition on.
AA been ,tested all fuses,diagnostic will not communicate with E C U, there is no power to E C U, ,and the machine cannot interrogate the EC U. He thinks it could be E C U relay,or glow plug relay or both.

Noticed a suspension fluid return tube under rear offside splitting at both ends which needs to be replaced. I'm sure that I could get a replacement from local Citroen dealer but is it possible to buy a small reel of tubing to cover any future repairs? Have done the usual Google search but not turned much up. Any hints?

I have a Citroen C5 2.0 Petrol with an AL4 however knowing it is a very limited box, plus its woes, I was wondering if a 4HP20 is a straight swap? I have located a box with 58,000 confirmed miles from a crashed C5 2.2 HDI and was really tempted to pick it up.

Any suggestions?

I see, is it not possible to take the ECU from the V6 petrol or to have someone flash the existing one?

You can't use the ECU from a Petrol 4HP20 on a Diesel 4HP20 as the final drive ratio will be different. This will confuse the ECU and put it into limp mode. (See a recent thread on this exact problem with a donor gearbox with the wrong final...

The pressure drops in my rear tyre by about 0.5 bar over about 250 miles or a couple of weeks enough to show message tyre deflated .
I changed the valve, and that did not solve the problem, therefore it must be a puncture. Now the tyre is about half worn so should be okay to repair.
My questions are, is there anything I should be aware of when...

Hi all back again with another query!
My pump seems to be getting tired. Car is slow to rise in the mornings and sometimes after stopped for short time it can take longer than usual to pressurise. I have been told that it is wear in the pump and I am looking to change it. I believe it is a 6+2 pump. Car is series 2 1.9TD

Hi, after successfully rebuilding my Citroen Xantia 1.9td after a road accident
on my Birthday the problem devil seems to be back to haunt me once again.

Yesterday 30th of June I was driving up a hill at about 35mph in third gear

Bigger lump will resist movement more (inertia), but - you are right - it'll thump when it does!
Had BX19RD and XM2.5 both develop excessive fore-aft engine movement, which was cured on the 2.5 by a new lower engine mount (under warranty) and on the BX by simply shimming under the rubber pyramid by 3mm or so.
All movement and 'bounce' promptly...

Morning all,

I'm all set to top up the 'Particulate Filter Additive' tank on my 2010 C5 2.0 HDI (160).
I've got the correct fluid and all the gubbins to get it into the tank but I'm struggling to find out how to reset the counter.

Everything I've found on here and the rest of the internet seems to point to accessing the additive ECU and...
