According to Takata, the chemicals in the airbags’ explosive charge can...

Disruption to Parts Service

This has caused some problems for organisations like ours and the Team are currently looking at the best way forward. This...

New tyres on my Xantia

by CitroJim » 13 Sep 2006, 20:22

When I bought my Xantia it had Pug 205 1.9 GTi 15 Speedline alloys on it shod with 195/65 R 15 types made by some obscure outfit in Russia. They were too big as the rear tyres contacted the leading edge of the rear wheelarch when the suspension was on high setting. Last post

I've got a pair of Fate tyres on the front of my Xantia. They are dreadful, especially on wet roundabouts, and I would get rid of them if I wasn't planning to get a new Xantia soon.

I especially hate seeing budget tyres on newish cars, IMO that's one of the first steps on the road to bangerdom.

Renault F1 spring balance weight

by FrenchLeave » 13 Sep 2006, 16:28

This spring balance weight that Renault have been stopped from using on their F1 cars, was it the same as the sprung weights that used to act as dampers on each wheel of the 2CV?

Aint that the same principle several manufacturers are using - when they suspend the car's engine on rubber - and dampen it with a shocker - as seen on '60-'70 BLMC's ?

Had to smile the other day when I saw an ad' for a new F**d Fester. One of the big selling points (well in fact THE ONLY selling point!) was that it has a mp3 input on the radio. Hmmm I thought, my 1997 Xantia has one of those and it's just the job for plugging in my Sony Bean (couldn't have an ipod... too common, not different enough... Citroen...

Have any of you guys ever driven a ka?

They are just so much fun for chucking about on country roads - I hired one for a month when my wife was working abroad (with our car...) and thoroughly enjoyed it. (took me back to my mini days when I were a lad)

wouldn't buy one though - bloody awful on a long run

Over in the Citroen area of this forum, the thread about the destruction of Activa Xantias highlighted just what a great and civilised forum this is.

Deian highlights just how some other forums behave:

was recently on the e30 forum and asked about the possibility of hydractive on a bmw, they soooooo didn't get it (one guy said 'boooooooring', i...

I have to agree with mezuk04. There's nothing wrong with a bit of silliness every now and then. All work and no play, etc...

Absolutely agreed. I would never suggest that this (or any other forum) should be like Radio 3. I love that fact that good intellegent humour and light-hearted comment abounds around here. It would be a poorer place by far...

O/T -need help with wiring diagram (never mind, bought a BOL)

by 406 V6 » 15 Aug 2006, 15:55

Fellas, i'm in desperate need to get rid of the excess wiring of the following diagram, needing only the bits for the starter, alternator and ignition system (basically, the necessary bits to start the engine and keep it running), as i'm using this particular engine and loom for a project car. As i'll be using a general cut-off switch for the...

BX 16v Register...

by Kitch » 14 Aug 2006, 20:58

First post

I've been intrigued to find out how many BX 16v's are in existance, and to date the responses and figures have always been vague.
We've got the build figures on some sites, and somewhere I read something like 1270 odd cars in the UK which are registered. We can find out how many where actually made, but how many survive to this day?
And how many...

Last post

Sadly I suspect it'll be a very slim volume, somewhat on a par with a Pug 405 Mi16 register.

I trust you'll publish the numbers here in due course? What would be equally interesting is how many were originally produced and imported. Judging by how may Mi16 205s (and 309s) there are around there must have been a very large number.

The BX 16v is a...

i have always thought they needed to offer hydrowhatever suspension on their smaller cars rather than just the big beasties....especially the 'round town cars' that tend to be bouncing over knackered roads and speed humps more than most...........

GS/GSA i think :-)

Far more important is the towball downforce, and your tyre pressures. Get these right and you can tow anything in a very stable and controlled manner.

Yes, absolutely. Two very important points, again often missed and overlooked.

Thanks for clarification on other points too. That is the great thing about this forum, so much knowledge. On...

Did not really know where to put this ;)

I have a very old Broom and Wade compressor. Basically a motor/belt driven single cylinder upright engine, and a seperate (80?) litre tank.

It will not get above 40 psi :( the gauge goes up to 120 .. I took the head off and poured oil into bore, it was engine oil so quite thick, but hadn't gone past rings...

Last post

thanks Demaq

its a permanent pumper :)
I thought about the belt, but the thing turns over all of the time, you can hear each pump, if the belt was slipping this noise would stop?

Saftey valve, i have taken apart and checked, and reset it at a level that is not too high (to start with). There is no escape of air from it at 40Psi..

The whole...
