God Damn New Cars

Post by mezuk04 »

Well the engine oil level was half empty on the Fiesta so chucked in a couple of litres.

Looks like a couple of litres was a bit too much.

The cap popped off so now the engine bay is a little bit oily, well quite oily infact, and theres a couple of nice big puddles in car park at work.

If that had happened in the Xantia I would have been very annoyed and upset because it was my lovely car, however I dont feel much for this car so cant say I'm bothered.

Just one more point to add to

Well, look on the bright side... at least the oil should keep rust at bay around the front subframe for a while!
Be careful!

Just a note to the Admin guys, I would appreciate if this thread could be kept in place. Lets see it as a thread that I am allowed to moan on regarding the Fessa, and a place where other members can ignore me while I moan on

Although referring initially to Fords, I will of course always mention I much missed Xantia (So keeping in the French requirements).

I saw the Xantia last night, shes a beaut!

If it had been the Xantia, it probably wouldn't have leaked the oil out, it probably would have drunk it without complaint. RUNAWAY XANTIA.

Half empty ? :-s
Going by what ? :?
Halfway between the marks on the dipstick ?
That would mean to add maybe ½ a litre.
Isn’t that a bad start for a new car ?

I would imagine that its a small amount compared to the amount I put in. Just cant wait for the Fiesta to die, just have to bear it, till that day happens.

You might be waiting some time...

Uncle Henry's wares take some killing, I can tell you. I've had an Escort 1.6 Zetec for the past 7 years - it's a godawful car to drive, but so far has been absolutely reliable, despite my fudging the service intervals to make it die so I can have an excuse to have another Xantia. It's now 62000 miles and 10 years old (96/P) and I'm waiting for the original cambelt to snap...
I have to have it wreck itself you see - if I just sell it, I'll be condemned by the missus, fate worse than death. It's outlasted two Xantias - a 2.0i 8v SX which ate its headgasket and heater matrix in one swallow, and a 1.9TD LX which got trashed by a drunk driver.

wont be long before your escort cambelt snaps mate, friends of mine did it a while back, that was 96 N plate and had small cracks all over it when we looked at the remains.
He bought a nice 405 TD to replace it though :-)

The f**d fester that my Girlfriend was given as a courtesy car whilst her Polo was having some work done was fairly awful 1 litre Auto. It died at 1.50 AM leaving me to drive her home in the 405. Drove her to the garage the next day to get her car back and said to the mechanic "your car's in (village), go fetch. Oh you'll need a recovery van."

Basically it started and then switched off ad wouldn't come back to life.

Wasn't best pleased.

Although I do truely detest the Fessa it has allowed me to move out of home and now living with the girlfriend. We are currently looking at houses to get a mortgage and start on the property ladder...so stressful!!!

Good.

I'll be back in a real, green blooded car before too long then. Well, maybe orange blooded - I might go for a C5 instead of another Xantia.

on the up (or down) side to much oil in an engine can kill it as well.....

so you have an o6 engine using litres of oil already.....doesnt bode well for the future of that little hdi engine

I thought new engines consumed oil fairly quick at the beginning of their life, and I certainly dont cut it any slack for being small.

We made an offer on a house and its been accepted (I could say its a House in France but I would be lieing).

Manufacturers always used to give scarily large figures for how much oil an engine would consume when new. It was to cover them in case you got one that did consume that much oil, they typically never did, aside for the odd one which did....

New engines aren't supposed to consume oil, its not good for the emissions!
