Ebay again!

Post by nick »

Having trouble selling your petrol Xantia?
Just call it an HDi then;

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2000-CITROEN-XANT ... dZViewItem

Does he really not know the difference, or is it a crafty attempt to get more people to look at his listing?

Well he'll get a load of "ask seller a questions"putting him right.

Looks like a HDI badge on the tailgate alright. Maybe it's had a scrapyard replacement at some stage?

I've just reported him to ebay for 'Intentionally misleading or deceptive title'. I hope they take the listing off!
....if they don't I'm going to stick a C6 HDi badge on the back of my Xantia & bung it on there with a Buy It Now of £35,000

Naughty, but not exactly earth shattering - how many ebay listings have you had to endure the extra bolted on nonsense that has absolutely NOTHING to do with the auction item but everything to do with shedloads of other mainstream searched items?

You can filter 'most' (I know, not all) by putting a minus "-" and whatever you want to filter out like:

-anodized -xenon -lowered -modified -ford -bmw
etc etc, you get the idea!

I agree about the problem of people adding extra nonsense onto the title to get more search hits, but I suspect what he's done here could actually lead to someone bidding on this really thinking it's an HDi.
I know it says "This car is not DIESEL it is PETROL" in the description. A case of buyer beware perhaps, but this guy is taking the p*ss really.

Not as bad as the auction for a picture of a PSP (portable game system) which went over £100.

Sorted I'll just change the badge of my 1.9 call it a HDI and plead ignorance if asked by the buyer. Ebay is brilliant!!!!

Notice the tiny "this car is not a diesel it's a petrol" on his listing

Regards
Howie

On 03-Aug-06 at 19:38:01 BST, seller added the following information:
I AM CLEARLY AWARE THAT HDI USUALLY MEANS DIESEL, BUT THIS CAR CLEARLY HAS BADGE FROM NEW SAYING HDIsx ON THE RIGHTHAND SIDE OF THE REAR. THIS MAYBE THE TRIM I DO NOT KNOW. PLEASE MAY I ASK THAT YOU DO NOT SEND QUESTIONS WHY?? OR INFORMING ME THAT THIS MEANS DIESEL. AS FOR THE SERVICE BOOK I WILL TRY TO GET IN CONTACT WITH THE OWNER< I CAN ONLY GIVE YOU MY WORD AND PROMISE THAT THIS CAR HAS BEEN SERVICED REGULARY AND ALSO IS IN GREAT CONDITION THROUGHOUT.
and as yet ebay have done b*gger all about it as usual.
