Possible C5 purchase.

Post by Stuart McB »

Wright then. The Mazda 323 is a great car and so far hasn't let us down. Unfortunatley as my little girl is 2.5 inches taller then average for her hight & age (10months old) the car is getting a little small very fast. Any how looked on the auto trader webb last night and nearly fell over with how cheap a relatively new C5 hatch & estate are. My problem is I'd prefere something 2.0ltr and under and the wife wants an estate. Diesel isn't here or there. I was just wondering which is possibly the best to get / go for. I'm looking at no more than £5K, hopefully red (wife hates silver). So guys you views appreciated.

Spec, engine size (with poss mpg) anything problems to look out for and anything I should know as I'm probably going to buy from a main delaer or French specialist.

Thanks guys- this could be me back in to a french car.

Id say your best bet is a 2.0HDI as the petrols may be cheaper now and may well see the milage well but their MPG over the longterm and their resale value will always be a good chunk less than the diesel.

Plus when loaded up for holidays they will struggle more with the wieght in the car.

Diesels may be a bit pricier but are generally better to go for IMO with the PSA Hdi engines. Also look for an SX or above if you can afford it, another easier point when it comes to moving on and the extra toys are nice as well.

Check the service history as with any cars and check the ride as well as some are needing spheres replaced now so its always a good bargaining point and easy enough to replace them DIY as well :)

Thanks KP. sorry to say was at the Local Citroen / Mazda dealer the week end. Yep you guessed it I bought a newer Mazda 323, 5 door in red. All the bits and has the japaneese reliability. Plus the Citroen sales man couldn't be bothered to come out side on to the used car lot. Mazda sale man treated me like gold. So that's a Reno and new Mazda.
