Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

I went to preview a model car auction today with Jim and we were both very impressed with the quality and range of models coming up in Saturday's sale at Excalibur Auctions in Kings Langley. There is a link below to the full catalogue.

May not achieve too much....

,,,but... instead of installing/upgrading petrol pumps at every forecourt in the country which seems a bit bizarre, installing even a single electric charging point at most petrol forecourts would be some step towards avoiding the searching for a working chargepoint routine a far better transistion proposal.

I wonder if re-partitioning the old HDD might sort out the boot sector problem? The manufacturers know that sectors can fail over time, and so they they make them with extra capacity to allow for failed sectors to be 'swapped out' (for want of a better explanation).

I plugged in the 3008 last night to check that my updated version of Diagbox was working (as I have to do the Eolys on my Sister's car, and have said I will program a radio VIN for someone else). All works fine and no problems with dialogue with the car, but... there is no P1351 glow plug fault recorded!! How can that be, there must be something...

Yes I should have said, I have a bluetooth dongle too which works with the phone for live data but I've not used it to actually do anything. With the stricter regulations on using a mobile while driving including touching it I found it not much use for live data whereas the cable connected reader is not subject to that legislation :wink:

Chatting to my daughter in Maryland last night, she's snowed in, past experience tells me that we get their weather here two or three days later. :(

I get that too with our other temperature devices. Sometimes they tally sometimes they don't exactly.
When we moved in we made the conscious decision to have lobbies/porches at the entrance doors to avoid rushes of cold into the house while you put jackets and shoes on and off.
Out front we built a semi enclosed porch to protect us from the worst...

SWMBO dropped her phone on Saturday evening and it went completely dead. I put it on charge and there was no indication of chargeing at all and it still wouldn't power up, and nothing changed after two hours. On removing the battery with the charger still plugged in the screen began to flash the Android symbol you usually get when you first power...

Stripping and rebuilding my GPz11, last nut and bolt incl. engine. I've got a bucket sandblaster and used sand (<1% silica) with mask outside for the small parts like yokes, battery box etc and will do the same for the frame but I need to do the engine. 40 yo genuine paint is as hard as hell. Hi Folks,

I thought I would post this on here,

Went to France for 2 weeks in the middle of July to a small town called Verfeil near Toulouse.

As usual we drove down with the C5 x 7 great for this sort of thing, temperature ridiculous 30 to 35 in the north then 35 to 45 c.

Have been down here regularly for 27 years so expect temps of 27 - 33...

Yes Jim, I've experienced an Aux belt completely unraveling whilst traveling form Morecombe to Newton Aycliffe. All caused by the tensioner. That was on my Xantia

Before I left for France I checked the belt, it had rubbing marks on it but it was not frayed. But I never checked the belt in France, so lesson learned.

My daughter made these chocolates for Halloween to give to the kids as tricks. They're raw sprouts inside a chocolate case.

The thing is I love sprouts and will even eat them raw so they are a definite treat for me!

I know of somebody who used to leave a deep bowl of sweets by the door, with the notice Help yourself, but don't be greedy . On one Halloween somebody was greedy, and found out why this was not a good idea. At the bottom of the bowl was an armed mouse trap!

Hi All, I have spent a fare bit of time under the car recently and have noticed a lot of Corrosion/Rust on various pipes, I intention is to clean, treat for Corrosion/Rust then repaint with hammerite or something similar.

I thought Kurust and the like were based upon Phosphoric Acid? - I bought a couple of 5 litres bottles of that. Seems to work best if things are dipped into it, but can brush on. A bit thin. Mind your eyes if working overhead!

Note for dipping: don't use a tin can (e.g. bean tin, not aluminium can) and even better yet, don't leave the tin with...

We had our last round of fuel price reductions on the 19th of this month and over the last couple of days I filled a couple of vehicles.
Converting to Sterling I'm now forking out 57 p per litre for 95 and 37 p for Diesel.
How are things in the UK?

Reversed out of my driveway the power dropped off and a big orange spanner flashed on the dash with a message Check the electrical system. which then changed to Check the hill start assistance.
Switched it off and back on again and all's ok :shock: I hope that's not something about to die.

According to the service records the 12v battery is good until next October, change every three years.
Some interesting stuff in your links, I wonder about the brake pedal wiring connections, I have a rubber mat that gets tucked up under the pedal at times, need to check that..............when it stops raining.

data services have been awful down here on the South coast for the past few days - apparently they are working on it and we should ne OK by Thursday - so over a week with no stable connection and as home users we don't get any form of refund for the missing days - apprently if we'd read the terms and conditions properly we would have been aware...

My English teaching daughter tells me that the Elizabethan age has been succeeded by the new Carolean age.

I personally think that sounds wrong, and if it is right then it should be changed to a more accurate representation of the name Charles so I was curious to get other people's views? :)

I've got this little garden tiller that won't run, checked all the wiring and all's fine down to the motor and the motor looks all good but switching it on just makes an attempt to start then nothing. the grey item is warm to touch, I'm assuming it's a kick start capacitor for the motor but there are no markings on it so just...

I did worry when she started digging in to the windings and cutting them out though. I'll have to assume that they'd been tested and found to be no good as I would've tried to reuse them myself. I also like to hold solder further away from the soldering iron!

There can't be anyone who isn't aware that using a phone (or several other gadgets) while driving is dangerous and a serious offence that can cost you your licence, or worse, much, much worse.
This happened not far from where I live.
