There's always the hose in the garden, even better if you have a sprinkler attachment
Electric shower?

A bit to fresh out there for the hosepipe job  .
Electric shower, has a ceiling switch with a rope pull and the light doesn't come on, not sure if it's the shower, switch popped or a fuse, trouble is I'm not fit enough now to DIY it, even reaching up to check the fuses is a struggle. :(

I'd expect it to be the fuse/circuit breaker. As you say, they are frequently awkward to get at.
The neon in my ceiling switch hasn't worked in donkeys.
Any helpful neighbours?

I have a building contractor neighbour who will no doubt have a pet electrician but being Sunday morning he's not around, not too urgent I can manage for a day or two.

Of course, a re-fusal may offend.

That reminds me Steve of the chap that stole our garden gate a few years ago! I saw him doing it but I didn't dare say anything in case he took offence :-D

First thing to check is the circuit breaker, assuming you have those fitted.

My daughter's shower stopped working last year some time. I'd like to say it was the first thing I checked but I went through the faff of part dismantling the shower unit and ceiling pull switch first! It hasn't tripped since then so no idea why it went then.

While you're sitting there getting frustrated have a read, and buy some nose pegs for those you are going to come into contact with.

Nope! Still the original fuse box from the 70s when the house was built, all the electricians tell me it doesn't need to be changed, no blown fuses so I guess the problem is in the bathroom.

Weeell, the major failure point in my experience is the actual electric shower. The two that I've had to replace (for the same friends) only lasted about two years. When it went for the third time I persuaded them into having a proper thermostatically controlled mixer unit. Relatively easy to put in for them as the shower cubicle backed on to the hot air cupboard where the new combi boiler had been put.

Depends on what shower you have, sometimes it's the thermostat or element in the water heating tank. Very easy, and cheap to replace. If the element is faulty the shower may not turn on.

It's a Triton electric shower over the bath.....................but  after not working when I wanted to shower yesterday morning when I set off to bed at 10.30pm the bathroom and bedroom were like a bloody sauna, it had mysteriously switched itself on and been pouring hot water down the drain for possibly up to two hours after the last time I went to the loo.
The light was on now on the isolator switch so I just stopped the shower and left the switch on, had me a shower this morning and called an electrician to come and fit a new switch.

I rarely turn mine off. Probably not wise in case the shower unit self immolates.
