The Special Edition

Unread post by NewcastleFalcon »

Start a new thread in January. Join in with your own examples of good/bad or ugly special editions. Anything goes not necessarily French, although Renault in its yuppie heyday did a couple of nice ones on the 25.

How did I get here............Keith Floyd cooking in Toledo on TV in the background, the Triumph Toledo, and this Telegraph article "UK's Rarest Cars" featuring a 1978 Triumph Dolomite 1500 SE.

Also mentioned the most desirable of all Marina's. The Morris Marina 1.8 TC 'Jubilee', Citron (see the French connection there :-D )

Best pic available....a corgi model.....probably so rare there are very few left in the "metal"

Does this count?

Doesn't get much more special than that!

Of course Steve......bit more description from Simon Cars
Citroen SM Opera Presidential. Charles de Gaulle had 2 of these Opera saloons extended and made into a convertible by Henri Chapron. First used for a visit by HM Queen Elizabeth II to Paris in 1972
Was thinking more along the lines of JPS Capri’s as being special editions which stick in the memory but those one offs from the coach builders are at home in this thread too!

I could never afford the insurance for anything as exotic as a Special Edition when I was a youngster
I remember the price going up on the insurance when the brokers realised my Avenger was a GL

DS 1955 Limited Edition....

Why? To celebrate 60 years since the launch of the original DS in 1955.

Bit subtle in the logoing up.

If you happen to spot one when you are out and about, 1 Special Edition Spotting point is waiting for the posting up of a sighting, 10 if accompanied by a photo. Not very common I would have thought.

I think the 2CV might hold the record for the most special editions... speaking of which, in this month's Practical Classics:

I would rather NOT have the version of the 2CV that Inspector Clouseau put together!

Liked the 2CV, if there are any other unusual ones put them up the more the merrier!

Probably the Capri's last Special Edition the 280 Brooklands. One for sale at the SWVA at Poole on January 25th more pics on the lot list.
