Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

During the night some scumbag (putting it politly!!) has taken it upon themselves for unknown reasons to cut the handbrake cable through on the old dears 306 and also cut a wiring loom in half.

How do you release the brake shoes to allow removal of the rear drum on a 1985 405. I can see through the inspection hole a lever but this only moves a small amount and doesn't seem to realse the shoes enough to allow removal of the drum. I have slackend the handbrake cable but still the shoes are preventing drum removal. Can any help please?

Do the pins have a torx head?
My Xsara has ATE Teves calipers, and I'm amazed the pins would bend, they look to be made of a cro-mo type metal. Can the caliper slide on these bent pins?
If these pins are having an effect, I think you'd notice uneven pad wear.
If the pads are wearing normally, I rekon the disks have warped due to heat soak - caused...

The rear locking rods are a bit of a pain sometimes & taking it apart can be a right swine.
Take the door trim off again, Theres a kind of round rachet assy inside the door this is part of the lock rod that can give problems.
Are you sure you havent trapped the linkage behind the trim when you put it back together?

I had a similar problem on the girlfriends car, the rear washer hadn't been used for a while and the screen wash that was in the pipes seemed to turn to jelly.
I just had to trace the water pipe from the pump to the rear jet and clean it out.

Still got an ongoing problem with a juddering when decelerating and going from first to second. I had the MAP sensor changed which seemed to stop the problem for a while but it has come back, I have also noticed increased engine noise and slight fluctuation in the idle.

If it's similar to the IR type on the 306 you can re-program them yourself (the instructions are in the owners handbook for my 306).
I have seen loads of these IR remote keys for peugeot's on ebay.
Do a search on there for peugeot remotes or peugeot plips.

The HDi pump sprocket doesn't need timing as the pump only supplies pressure to the fuel rail. Check all the wiring on the injectors and any sensors etc to see if anything come loose.

My daughter's 306 has the ball joints bolted with three bolts. Presumably, you can drill the rivets and replace with suitable bolts.

my 306 N reg has got a fuel problem, it starts fine and runs ok untill it has been reved up, as soon as this happens the priming bulb is sucked in and i can see air going in to the fuel pump, and if it is reved for long enough while driving it will lose all power and if i put the cluch in while it has no power it cuts out.

Sounds like the siren is faulty, I disconnected my siren when my alarm started playing up and the red light illuminated when the engine was running.
I got so pissed off with mine I stopped using the alarm. I'd rather the car was stolen and I got a decent nights sleep. In the end disconnecting the interior sensors solved the false alarm problems....

I have sorted it. I tried various attack plans which I will not go into, but the only method in the end was to destroy the lock through the hole on the inside of the door with the interior panel off, with a screw driver, a drill and a soldering iron to melt the plastic which surrounds it. Not easy due to the very limited access.

Some little sod bent my window out to nick my radio, so I require a nice near side door for a 3 door 205. In an ideal world it would be Dark metalic green (most people think its black) with electric windows and central locking, and located in the NW of the UK, however ill consider anything in good (unbent rustfree) condition.

Not sure about 205TD but I would think it would be on the flywheel. Have a look for the diagnostic plug somewhere around the gearbox mounted to the engine, a expect a feed comes from this. I think its a magnetic pulse, which is then amplified for the dash.

Have you checked the airbag bulb hasn't blown on the instrument panel?
You mention warning lights, Is this an early 306 with the red warning light on the steering wheel & the yellow warning light on the instrument panel?

I've just been reading the handbook for my 306 (okay, I'm rather bored at the moment ) and reading the section on the airbags, it says that the airbag warning lights should come on for six seconds when you turn on the ignition. It occurs to me that I've never seen the airbag lights come on.

I never had this problem when I had my 406, but someone I know used wedge the cigarette lighter under the lever to solve the problem.

This may seem a stupid question. Just bought a 1998 Peugeot 406 TD. Fuel flap release at side of drivers seat does not release flap. Presume cable stretched or needs adjusting. Any one any ideas as how to rectify as my arms are not long enough to pull lever and push flap at same time. Locking peg not quite clearing enough for flap to spring...

My 306 had exactly the same problem.
I replaced the clutch cable and that didn't solve it.
I was then told that it was common on the 306 for the pressure plate to wear out.
Had the cluch replaced and it is now as light as a feather!

The clutch is really heavy, I mean you have to push really hard, it's like an exercise machine.
Is there a bit that wears out - a spring or something?
I don't have any problems with the actual gear change.
Anyone have the same problem, or even better an answer?

From the description you have given you are after Peugeot part number 1424 J9 & its called a Filter Air Hose.
Ive no idea on how much one is, It may be cheap ( If Peugeot still stock it ) or it may be a trip down the scrapyard for another one.
The GR Injection, SRI & GTX Injection use the XU9J2 lump so hunt for one of those or even check out...

It'll be worth you doing the auxiliary drive belt at the same time.
Also as you'll be working in the general area, the water pump is a very strong candidate for replacement at the same time.
However - do you know why your gasket went? If there is an underlying problem (like a partially blocked radiator) they you'll be doing the head gasket again...

I beleive the head gasket is blown in my 106, Got a quote to replace the gasket at 300, the garage, not a dealer, but reputable peugeot specialist, advised me that the cam belt tensioner is fairly easy to set .(This is the bit the haynes manual warns to be careful with)

Probably not without being armed with 10 engines to practise on and about £10000. You cant just add a turbo on to an eninge. You will need manifolds, new pistons, all the pipework, new oilways to feed the turbo etc etc, the list goes on. Best bet would be an engine designed for a turbo in the first place, for example the 2.0 8v engine from the...

I'm to replace the cambelt on my wifes 51plt 206 1.1.
What is the purpose of the Tool shown in the Haynes manual for positioning the Rockers etc. when renewing the belt????
They also say a electronic device should be used to measure the tension when setting the cambelt, I've been told of a method to set the belt tension without the device.

Is it just a valve cap, the same size as a tyre valve cap? If it is, then a tyre valve cap is just what you need to fix it!
But, it it's the half a turn typre radiator stop, then the seal is an O-ring attached to bottom of the post of the cap (take it out. you'll see what I'm talking about).

The air bleed point at the top of the radiator is leaking slightly. It is one of those black plastic plugs which turns about half a turn anticlockise then stops. Is it possible to remove the plug and replace the seal? Are spares available?

The Misfire you are feeling is infact the aircon compressor clutch engaging. As it's an electromagnetic clutch, it's quite a thump, and hence you can feel it. Most noticeable at 30/40 mph constant speed. This is a they all do that, and nothing to worry about
As for the climate control... it sounds like either the circulator fan isn't working on...

You've got it fairly well covered. Any good semi-synth oil will be OK. GSF do a suitable oil and filters will cost you less there than any other shop. If you don't know that the coolant has been changed in the last two years, I would do that as well. A cambelt will cost you about £12 and three hours work, maybe a bit longer for a first time. £100...

On a 1993 I'm assuming you'll have a CAT and a lambda sensor. When duff/ worn these can cause idle issues. Also, a duff throttle position sensor can trick the ECU into thinking you're pressing the throttle when you're not thus raising the idle speed. I have only one cooling fan working on high speed and none on low speed. I have isolated it to an electrical fault with the drivers side fan or wiring. Can any one tell me if it is possible to get the fans out without taking out the rad, intercooler,and air con rad. If not any problems with taking out all the rads etc.

Hello, just had a similar issue with our 106 1.1i except ours was over fuelling after a recent clutch change.
Anyway it turned out to be two of the three earth straps on the top of the gearbox not being connected after the cluch was refitted which was throwing the sensors into disaray, giving similar things to you. If this is no good try this link...

Try asking the same question in the Citroen forum - there are more readers there.
A couple of things spring to mind.
Belt too loose
Bottom pulley not fitted correctly
If the engine is overheating, so long as the belt hasn't come off of the water pump sprocket (which is unlikely) then it looks like the cooling system needs a good bleeding to...

I *think* the LCD panels on these are coded to the radio. I'm not sure, but I think I've heard something like this in the past. Once Mr. Powerlee gets here, I'm sure he'll be able to tell you... I'm fairly sure he knows more about Peugeot wiring than Peugeot themselves.

I have a 406 exe est w reg
I changed the lcd panel for the traffic assist / radio / fuel computer as it was cracked, now the CD changer refuses to work, when the button is pushed on the head unit nothing happens. If i put back in the old lcd panel all is fine.
Are there different lcd panels? can`t see why this should stop the cd working
