Van is an 07 1.6hdi with 50k miles on it.
Engine management light was coming on and it was read - owner was told it needed an EGR valve. Cleaned the valve and it was fine for a few days but now light is on again and power is down. Owner got it read again and the codes are P0489 ( EGR control Circuit Low) and P1162 (Electrical Gas Recycling Coherence). Is the only option to replace the EGR or is there anything else ?
This is a totally electrical EGR with no vacuum used to actuate it.
