Hi.

As far as I am aware, the only speed sensor reading will be from the ABS sensors (one per wheel) , the speedometer itself is mechanical (cable driven) straight from the gearbox.

02 106D, TUD5B, gone but not really missed apart from the MPG

Hi spider,

I should now about protocol of data transfer from (ecu) to (front panel pointer) , i never need mechanical information.

After reading this post a couple of times, I think that the OP is talking about a rev counter.

Ah.

There's a sensor fitted to above the gearbox, I think it is just a hall effect sensor :?: , and this picks up a tiny, tiny voltage induced by the flywheel.

There is an amplifier for it in the instrument panel itself from what I remember.

There is no need to read data from sensors the ecu support it.

I test pulse from ecu to front pannel and this result become.

engine evolution=(ECU Pulse ) * 30
e.g= 133 pulses we give from ecu in 1 sec
engine evolution= 133 * 30 = 3990 RPM

speed = (ECU Pulse ) * 0.8
e.g = when we give 130 pulse in 1 sec
speed= 120* 0.8 = 100 Km/h
