Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

I stuffed a switch on my Mk1 with some coke spilled......the switches do not like sugar it seems!

It would go low when asked to go high, if high it would go direct to Low, then I had to hit it again to go to Normal. I would look there first.

I would also as advised to a correct BSI reset.

Luckily mine appears to be impervious to spilled...

Folks

Struggling to fix the stiff steering on my Xantia. I know there must be air in the system, but can't find out how its getting in there. I have replaced the clips on reservoir and now its the driest i've ever known it. Bleed the brakes and did remove alot of air from the rear calipers.

When I exercise the suspension to high, no bubble...

Check the suction hose running from reservoir to pump. Remake connections if necessary, and use proper circular hose-clips (there are posts on here about that) rather than standard 'lumpy' thick jubilees.

Update, I bought a previously owned window from a 2008 exclusive and did not replace the clips, I think you replace the clips if you only replace with new (£328+vat) as they have to be glued into position.
The Job took no more than 1/2 hour from start to finish, most difficult part was getting the plastic door liner off to get access to the...

As my heating fan has it's control module removed for repair and the wiring bypassed until it's fixed properly you would think it would go at a steady full speed all the time. However is doesn't. The speed is variable every time I start the car. Would this be an indication that the power supply through the ignition is not the best? Could I need to...

Make sure you get a go in one as well, I thought I'd love the C6 but immediately upon entering one I knew it wasn't for me. The amount they cost to run I think you need to really like the car or it could be a mistake. It still makes my day actually seeing one on the road because of what it is but I don't desire one for myself at all.

Daughters C1 has just had its 'small' service. They flagged up a 'leaking water pump' at a cost to repair of £310 and 'perishing arb both bushes' at a cost of £199. Both seem laughable to me. Are these prices legit i wonder? ARB bushes are about a tenner a pair. Surely there's not £189 of labour involved. As for water pump, even a genuine cit is...

Afternoon all

When you buy a second hand plip from a scrappy, can you erase the old code by removing the battery? or can you blank it another way. I've put brand new batteries in it and done the procedure as described on this site but to no avail. Its on a 93 Xantia (infra red, 2 buttons).

Well, have you tried the programing procedure ?

Does the red light on the side of the plip work ? If you have a digital camera, try pointing the infrared LED on the plip into the camera, this will show you whether it is working or not.

Hello

I'd like to upgrade speakers on 2011 B7 C4 with factory stereo.

I'm thinking this in front
And in back, I'm not sure.
It says in manual rear door speakers should be 13mm, but with Denon, there are 165mm's. Does someone know which size is correct?
Also, can't decide whether to take ones with separate tweeters or ones with them built in....

hi
my xantia rear suspension was solid and bouncy the front was ok,
i changed both rear spheres but now the rear is so soft i can easily raise and lower to the max easily with 1 hand on whilst the front has become solid,
before i change the front ones is there something else thats causing the problem
at same time i replaced rear spheres i also...

I gave up trying to do a full install - it takes forever, and kept falling over - I just did the partial install, then I've got the DVDs on the PC as ISOs, and mount them virtually with Alcohol 120% which only takes a few seconds.

Is worth lower the suspension to low removing lds cap before deactivating electronic hand brake as I'm going to raise the rear onto axle stands to do caliper and change pads.

....reversal of removal....I know....but

Its been months since I removed it, and just putting all the bits I had taken off back together I dont have an obvious fixing bolt for the sensor.

I have looked for pics on the net of that end of the engine but none detailed enough to show me the fitment. I have also looked at service citroen hopefully...

I have recently remaped, blocked the EGR closed electronically and physically and electronically removed the DPF.

its a different beast alright. from 1500rpms it pulls strongly. nothing exagerated, but stock was killing me with little power till 2000rpms roughly. the vacuum line of the swirl was broken in the connector and the anti pollution...

Hi guys, I'm after some advice. Just had my C4 VTR+ in for a diagnostic check at Citroen after my car started playing up.
The technician gave me a copy of the report which stated: P2566 Turbo Position Copy Signal. I tried to ask him to explain but he said he would give me a ring as he was snowed under with work.

Part no is 037035, £44.08 Fitting time is only 0.7 hours, so it won't break the bank if it does need to be replaced. However, there doesn't appear to be any feed back from the valve, so not sure what is going on there.... perhaps the fault or code is something else.... What symptoms? The vanes on these turbos can gum up - check you can push down...

It's working now bypassed the original wiring with my self made wiring (4mm2) direct from battery with 100A fuse to glow relay and to glow plugs.

It's MOT day today. 8-[

Small perforation in driver's side cill some 10 back from the front wheel arch being welded, usual rear door shut areas are ok. 238k miles but then who knows what else.......

Welding done, very tidily too, need to get it painted now and investigate inside both cills and the rubber grommet/bungs with a view to Waxoyling / Dinitrol or something similar to prevent further degradation.

MOT failed on the one item I didn't check, front brake flexi hoses :(

Hi All,

On Sunday I got the warning message 'check oil level' on my 2007 C4GP 2.0Hdi. As it was, the oil was bearly on the dipstick - done an oil change 1700miles ago, with no visible signs of leaking.

Anyway, topped the oil up yesterday, dipstick showing plenty of oil now, but still getting the 'check oil level' warning. Ive plugged in a code...

Ive disconnected the battery for 15mins and reconnected and the oil warning has now gone. Just concerns me abit as to where all the oil had gone in 1700miles with no visible signs on leaks etc.

Afternoon, any help would be appreciated. I have a C5 Exclusive (2008). Went out today and the rear suspension dropped to the floor as I was driving. Managed to limp home as I as just around the corner. Tried it on the highest setting and it rose as it should. Then put it to the 'Normal' driving position and the front went to the correct level but...

Hello!

I succesfully reset eprom memory (shortcutting pins on AT29C512) on spare Sagem SL96 ECU for my Xantia which supposedly had broken ECU by Sagem Ignition Coil.
New ECU is wipped out of immobiliser code by forementioned process. The car starts with this ECU but there is immo light(key) and buzzing for 30sec from dashboard. I looked into...

The buzzing when the immobiliser coding in the ECU is wiped is a known consequence unfortunately. Not much can be done about it easily so best to live with it.

The best you might do is disconnect the sounder inside the instrument pod...

I am having a problem on my Citroen AX 10E.

Last year it had a blown Headgasket before I put mine to wintersleep. and I replaced the head,HG, gasket set and H.bolts and now cyl 3 wont get a compression at all almost.

cyl 1: 150psi
2: 145psi
3: 15psi
4: 145psi

all tests are done with wide throttle open.

Is a valve seat gone or piston ring?

Hi, my brake caliper bolt stripped and I bought a 15mm hub to replace. Somehow this is still to big for my ball joint.

Anyone knows what year an AX uses 15mm ball joints? I have seen 14mm and 16mm but, never 15mm....

Good evening chaps. Does anyone know of a good source of info for the ES9 engine in the Xantia V6 ? There appears to be nothing from haynes or the usual suspects. Hi all, I have a problem with one of the headlights, it blows the bulb and now the fuse. I there must be a short somewhere - I think it's either at the connector to the headlight block or inside the bulb fitting itself as the voltage measured at the connector is fine and at the bulb connector. I wonder if the dip and main have two seperate earths...

Hi,

Got a P0500 Vehicle speed signal fault : Value received incorrect from Lexia. It sets the MIL light and gives a Depollution system faulty message.

What causes this? The speedometer works fine. Where does the ECU take this signal from? I can't find any sensor on the gearbox.

All info and ideas appreciated!

Yeah black side is pickup hopefully you have put it the sensor side I'd re-check that's correct first! Unless obvious damage to speed sensor or wiring

I am having to replace the duel mass flywheel and clutch on my car. So whilst the box is out I am fitting new drive shaft oil seals, first motion shaft tube and oil seal, release folk ball joint and new release folk.

But on cleaning the seat for the near side oil seal I court the crown wheel bearing this slops about is...

Got the wheels last May and not happy this is happening. Hard to see in pics need to zoom in looks worse in the flesh. Pic 2 shows shows quite a bit missing. Only use the best cleaners and soft brush.

Looked on the shops website and it says 6 months warranty on polished alloys?

Going to call them tomorrow see what they say, surely they should...

They do really suit it and sit nicely in the arch, I concur with multispoke wheels being a pain to clean, mine are a Nightmare, look great when done but 2 mins later, minging! (tsw pace painted ford panther black with a little rainbow flake added! ;-))

The one I replaced last week on my xantia was different to the standard one, the housing and control unit differed. However the basic motor and fan blades were the exact same so I dismantled it and made one good which works perfectly out of the two.

Hi all,

I have recently purchased a 2007 Dispatch/Expert van which has a knackered 1st gear sychro, and now its started jumping out of 2nd gear too!

The gearbox code is 20DP35 however theres hardly any second hand boxes for sale (at a decent price anyway).

Does anybody know if there are any other gearbox codes that would fit? (Im not bothered...

Not sure about if other gearboxes would fit but you could just replace the sychro's as long as there's not excessive swarf inside the box!. not too expensive if you can carry out the repair tho

In your position I'd stick to like-for-like - although what it comes out of isn't really important as you can use any of your ancillaries that are different.

If you do go to a 2.8 (or any other lump that'll fit) get one that's as complete as poss. to put you in best position to mix'n'match ancillaries, mountings, cables, connections, etc.

Afternoon all,
i'd like to replace the rear bleed nipples on the car as one is a 7mm on one side and the other is at best a 6.5mm or maul wrench to get a good enough grip on it to turn it! having just replaced the aging fluid with hydraflush i thought i could cheat the rear system by going between the spokes on the alloys to bleed it! ;-)

I've fitted a Type B MFD to my 2004 Berlingo and would like to get the Outside Temp display working. These are normally wired via the BSI, but my car does not have the wiring from the door to the BSI as it's just a bit too old for that option. I read somewhere that it's possible to wire the Temp sensor directly to the MFD but cannot find any info...

Can you confirm, or not, whether your setup uses a 6 pin connection? I have a horrible feeling that the PhII Xsara has more pins as it can display information for doors open, etc.

Mine is the standard 18 pin setup as used on the MFD Type A or Type B. Thanks for the note about the Haynes diagram, I'll take a look at the Berlingo version.

The horn is stuck on on swmbo's C4GP so the airbag has to be removed from the steering wheel hub to get at the ring where the horn contacts are. When pressing the screwdriver into the hole underneath the airbag springs up a small amount but will not pull out, as though it's stuck on the mechanism that holds it onto the wheel.

Anyone any ideas? Only faults we have is low dpf fluid. Just done the timing belt and replaced 3 broken rockers engine starts and idles fine but won't go over 5mph or 2000rpm.
Limp mode usually allows you to go a bit faster than this so was wondering if this could be what limp mode looks like on the newer dispatch vans

Well my charger's clips would not stay on the positive terminal so I had to remove the battery and charge in the garage.

The plastic battery tray is an awful idea but snaps easily. The battery was such a tight fit I broke the plastic securing clip in removal.
