Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Hi All,

I was thinking of obtaining steel rims for winter tyres and fitting to my C5 x 7.

But found that there are only 16 rims available where as I have 17 alloys fitted at the moment.

Tyres on 16 are 205/55/16 and on 17 225/55/17.

My spare is a 17 steel retail from citroen £97 each where as 16 are £49 each.

Thoughts please.

Well today I have tried an experiment. Gabbys fuel down to 1/4, local tesco had rape seed oil on offer at 71p a litre. 15 litres put in with the 1/4 tank od derv, guage went to 1/2. I then went to work, and it was a busy night with 132 miles covered! Its amazing how the miles count up when there are a few orders from the outlying villages. It...

Hi all. I keep getting banging noises from the rear of the car when going down a pothole or over a speed bump.

Hi all, you don't hear from me much because Auld Katy the Mk1 Xantia has been so totally reliable but something changed.

It's a strange thing: the remote locking works and the deadlocks work on the second button as normal but now the indicator lights no longer flash 3 times on locking and the one time while locking. The red LED on the dashboard...

I mentioned previously that there was a slight leak of fluid a few days ago.
Tried to see the source and couldn't. Decided not to risk the Chevrons rally due to the distance but went to Teesside yesterday - 80 miles round trip.
By the time we got back here the power steering had packed up.
I decided to buy some LDS and top up the reservoir and...

Had the suspension not working, drive below 55mph message come on yesterday. Found the pump to be not running when needed. I've followed the forum advice and checked the maxi fuses and they are okay. My C4 as developed a noise that sounds like a bad bearing when on a right hand lock and going straight. I used PTS Developments to diagnose a braking issue I had on my C5, and then to get her MoT'ed. They found the O/S/F calliper had a leak, and the front brakes were marginal. All told the price (including labour and MoT) was around £450. I would use them again.

- If you are having brake pads changed and it is found that the discs are below min thickness, then you have the discs changed, no question.

You've got to do some of the work in order to change the pads, and you'll need to change the discs soon anyway. All you could possibly gain is a few thousand more miles from the discs, in the course of which they are likely to...

Morning all

Wondering if anyone has ever taken a DPF off to clean and how easy this is, car in question 2.0hdi C5 54 plate.

Had a look at the DPF filter and was wondering how difficult it is to get DPF off?

Also what tools are needed?

Car has economy mode and depollution system fault warnings.

car is loud on the motorway and quite sluggish....

Did mine when I had a C5 2.2hdi, no real problems doing it, only problem I had was one of the nuts were rusted solid in. Flood the nuts in plus gas and leave for a while before starting the job. ( not wd40)

Yes the point I’m making is that the shunt position is not going to be the cause of the interior light not coming on. The procedure for showroom mode does involve removing the shunt fuse and connecting the harness amongst other long winded an irrelevant processes that would take a page to fill, suffice it to say I’ll likely bet it’s a wiring or...

Does anyone know what sort of clips hold the sill covers on please? The car's an '09 Exclusive Tourer - at some point, the rear of the cover has had an impact of some sort, which seems to have 'sprained' the plastic a bit, causing it to spring off whatever holds it in place. Good day to all,

Citroen C5 2.0i 16v 2006 oil disappeared!

Many things to be suspected

Installed Auto Gas Unit (STAG QNEXT plus 10.000 kms ago)

239.000 kms on board.

Engine oil pressure too low and the dipstick showed nothing ( 0 ).

Took about 4,3 litres of 10w40 synthetic after 10.000 kms of the last oil change 3 months ago

I wouldn't expect the change from 5W to 10W to make any difference - it just means that the oil will get rather more viscous in cold weather. Changing from SAE 40 to 50 might help ( but not necessarily recommended).

My car keeps showing a red ‘STOP’ in the speed dial and a notice on the screen which says my tyre pressures are too low! The tyres are all ok and think there is a sensor that is malfunctioning. Does anybody know a cure or at least how to isolate this please?

Great - that can work too - the batteries do last for ages, so keep an eye on it in case it starts happening again - if these are the original sensors - then that's not bad going for 13 years on the same battery! :-D

Good bit of discussion recently about failure of suspension electrovalves (Xantia, XM...), and the small diode built into the EV solenoid body.

I had a chance to look at my front tyres today while the steering was on full lock and noticed that my nearside front tyre was wearing quite bad on the inside of the tread. I had a look at the offside tyre and it was equal tread all the way across. The car is steel sprung and is a 2011 c5 e-hdi egs. Any body had this on their cars.

Well got car back from garage today, they could find nothing wrong with the spring, bushes, tracking and arms so just fitted a new tyre and told me to keep a eye on it . So we shall see.

I fitted the refurb kit to the lh rear trailing arm due to excessive play and camber about 2 years ago. What I didn't know was that there is a pre-load shim. So I still have the poor camber and it's causing abnormal wear on the tyre. Having since read a lot of articles on doing the job, I haven't found any info on how you select the correct shim?...

.....so I thought I'd take the opportunity to break a few of the tailgate inner trim panel clips! :-D The high-level brake light stopped working ages ago (snapped wire) and the rear washer pipe's broken too - time to sort them out, methinks! :)

Well in the end they had it for thirteen days and it came out with exactly the same problem it went in with.
I've now left it with a well recommended local diesel specialist who's unfortunately unable to fit it in for over a week.
I reckon it'll be a nice Christmas present to myself by the time I see it again.

Currently half way through repairing my Activa front height corrector, and we've found that one of the 3 pipes is full of muck. It's the pipe on the drivers side of the car, on the opposite side of the other two pipes. I'd like to undo it at the opposite end and blow the muck out if possible.

Hi All,

It looks like my rack as got the dread death knell with fluid found lying underneath the car yesterday.

Thoughts from members who have changed rack.

Find updated 2nd hand rack
or
refurbish original rack.

Just don't have the cash for new one from citroen.

Well after the inspection the cars gone from weeping to wind and finally stopping, which is a good thing but annoying as I don't know what was the cause the problem in the first place.
I don' know what I have done to upset its feelings.

After a brief (10min) shop dash when I returned to my car before I inserted the ignition I key I noticed one of the red lamps flashing at me which I initially assumed was the alarm. after finding my steering getting heavy i booked car into citroen and they tell me the wrong fluid has been put in power steering/suspension system and quoted me 12.5k to fix :)
They were not interested in flushing system and replacing fluid so im just wondering if this is worth doing or is it too late?

Trouble is that PS fluid is considerably cheaper than LDS. You could end up £70 odd in flushing the old stuff out. But still worth a go!

I've seen videos, where the washers, nuts, bushes - along gear linkages are renewed/replaced - and gear changes become firmer, tighter and more positive again.

Are lambda sensors interchangeable? The reason I ask is I've dropped on yet another C4GP 1.6hdi with knackered turbo, egr and dpf. The woman who owned it insisted it didn't need servicing because it hadn't done 20k miles since its last service. That was nearly three years ago :shock:

Hello to all.

We have a 205 - 1.7d and the Lucas injection pump is leaking.

We have a Lucas injection pump from an XUD9 - 1.9d. It looks the same, apart from the diesel return pipe (which we can swap) and the little damper on the throttle.

Any experts out there who can say if the pumps are compatible ?
