Xantia Radio Code - AGAIN!

Unread post by Jonesy »

I know this has been covered many times, so apologies if I'm repeating what has been asked in other posts.

Having disconnected the battery to replace the cambelt, water pump, tensioner etc on my '98 2.1 TD (Mk. 2), I have now stupidly locked out the stereo (Model 4035) by putting in the wrong code several times (even though I have the code) and have now locked out the stereo with the double line of dashes.

As the handbook says, I have left it on for 1 hour to no avail, and then for a further 15 hours and still no joy.

Does anyone have a definitive answer as to whether it will ever ask for the code again, plus, is it safe to leave the ignition switch in the accessory position for extended periods of time? The battery is fine and I have connected it up to a battery conditioner so that it does not drain.

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions....

Hi Jonesy,

You can move a fuse in the fise box to make the radio live without having the ignition on...

Its one of either the very top single fuse or very bottom. One does the 12v socket, other the radio... if you move them one position over to the right, this will bring the radio and 12v socket on without needing the key..

The iginition is safe on with JUST The battery light on..

As for the radio, you could have locked it out permanetly.. however, when leaving it switch on in the car it MUST NOT be interupted what so ever, that means not starting the car as this cuts the power etc etc....

I rigged one of mine up to a DC power supply in the house so it defenatly had no interuptions...

Paul

EDIT: Mk.2, thats a Clarion unit then with the round Volume control??? If so, then theres no need to wait, I Think you need to press the BAND button for a few seconds??

The upper above is for S1 Blaupunkt radios with the CD in socket on the front...

Yeah it is a Clarion unit but when you press the 'BND' button it just comes up with both rows of dashes i.e. one row under the other, it's very annoying really. I believe this just signifies that you have entered 4 incorrect attempts.

Hi Jonesy,

Yes, its had too many entries then... If you decide to throw the radio away, throw it my way.. I cannot reset the codeing, but can remove the coded chip from a broken unit...

If pressing and holding BND doesn't clear the dashes, you haven't left the radio on long enough - it's a progressive delay so the more times it's wrongly coded, the longer you have to leave the radio on. And it's continuous, so turning it off starts the countdown all over again.

As advised, find the shunt fuse so you don't need the key, then leave the radio on overnight - that's how I sorted mine.

Hi
If I may "seize the opportunity" regarding the issue - I have a Clarion PU-2294B(D) radio disk installed in my 2001 xantia. I'm looking for its user manual, but to no avail. I even turned to Clarion UK but was answerd that this model is for citroen, they dont have it. perhaps any forum member has it and willing to Email a copy of it?
Thanx.

Okay i know it is an old thread but then again so am i :rofl2:

Whilst doing some work i had to disconnect the battery on my Xantia, and when i put the code back in for the radio i got a double press of a button and entered the wrong code #-o

So i just left it for 2 days with the ----- showing, thinking it would eventually allow me to re enter a code ...................................wrong

All i had to do was press the BND button and hey presto enter code

Just goes to show that this forum is/was and always will be a wonderful place to find out what the old grey matter forgets =D> =D>

If you take the medication as well (aka Xantia-XM) the grey matter receives a regular workout! :gt:

Yea one of the minor changes between blaupunkt S1 and Clarion S2 units..

but enter the wrong code about 5 times and boom they are locked out forever..

you know this when the code in changes to 5 dashes in the upper side of the. lcd. rather then in the. middle.
