Trip and odo meter on dashboard

Post by Wynand007 »

Hi any advice please. Have a citroen C2 1.4 VTR 2006 MK2. The odometer an trip display sometimes, stops "counting". But when you switch of the car and restart, it start working again, sometimes it happens after about 70km and then after 280km of highway driving. Any thoughts please. Everty fuse and earthpoint has been checked and there is no error codes.

Is the speedometer working correctly? Do you have any ABS warnings or fault codes?

When the odometer and/or trip restart have they caught up the missing mileage or do they continue where they stopped?

Hi Wheeler and Paul. speedo is working fine but has an ABS light on the dashboard, scan shows left front wheel sensor. ABS came on due to sensor about 2 years ago, but the problem only started know. Town driving its fine no problems, only on freeway drive the problems pop up.

The trip and odo meter continue counting from where it stopped.

I know the other problem only just started but I wouldn’t waste any time trying to find the fault until you sort the ABS issue, the road speed & distance information comes from the ABS system so that has to be working correctly before you go any further.

It's almost certainly one of the ABS sensors or an ABS ring. You need to get the car on a diagnostic reader which should tell you which one is not working properly.

Thanks guys. A previous scan showed left front ABS sensor fault, did replace it but with a secondhand one, maybe it was also faulty. Could it be that the multi functional relay to the ABS could be faulty not working correctly. Just to say since this has been happening, i did get an error code using FAP software, stating redundant brake light signal, but all brake lights are working fine.

You really need to get live data from the ABS system to see what each speed sensor is doing

Hi. Just to give feedback on the problem. 10 years ago I fitted an aftermarket radio, with a Connects2 connector to retain the stalk control functions of the radio and the display, everything was working fine untill a few months ago when the problem started, after much troubleshooting, the last thing was to remove the Connects2 connector, and after around trip of almost 260 km , the trip and odometer is working as it should.
Thanks for all the help

Well done for finding that. I would never have guessed it would suddenly become a problem.
