Hi,
is there a valve to stop coolant flow to the heater on this car? And where is it located? My left side temperature flap got stuck on the hot setting and removing the motor is not possible because the steering is also on the left side blocking any space to get to the motor (I removed the wrong one and was stuck thinking why the flap hole looks fine before I found out there is another one towards the bottom and entirely out of the way with no chance of getting any tool near it).
That is why I would like to find the valve (if the car has one) and wire in a switch to manually stop the coolant flowing and heating the heater under the dashboard.

Hot coolant from the engine circulates through the heater matrix all the time. Temperature control comes from mixing the hot air from the matrix with cold air from outside the car (or air conditioning) with servo controlled flaps.

Thanks for letting me know. Sad that the c5 doesn't have it. I guess I am going to be stuck with the heat then because there is absolutely no chance of getting to the temperature flap motor.
Best regards

My fractured memory recalls that air blending was introduced some thirty to forty years ago as an improvement on the old water valve method. The big advantage of air blending was greater control over temperature.

Yeah, sorry for the stupid question. I just got confused by used parts like this: https://rrr.lt/en/used-part/ara2666-cit ... trol-valve when looking on the internet for possible solutions to my issue and I thought that it must use the valve to stop cold coolant going into the heater before it warms up (to help it warm up faster?) or some silly thing like that.
