Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Got in my C5 the other day and was greeted by a heater blower on full speed.
The fan is running all the time at full speed even when the the controls are set to off.
I have tried to loccate the resistor pack and have looked at threads on here but can't find it.
Any help appreciated.

Ok, just for future reference your car was actually built on 08/12/2011, you warranty start date is 23/01/2012.

We don't really deal with the manufacturer code numbers on the parts as they are no indication of the actual part number and are likely to be the manufacturer's internal references and not necessarily anything to do with the actual...

My 2014 103k 2.2 diesel rattles really badly at start up but it largely settles down after a few minute warm up. When it has warmed up you can rev it up stationary and it sounds fine and likewise if you drive it normally. If you give it some stick the rattly noise comes back and sometimes it sounds like the top end has no oil. Really worrying as...

Don't forget to check the not so obvious things like a loose exhaust shield near the back of the manifold and other areas. I had an intermittent rattling noise and it took several mechanics to pinpoint it as a loose heat shield. It got worse at certain revs and quietened down at other times, so don't always assume the worse.

Does anyone know if this is indeed the horn on my van?
Just spent 2 hrs looking for the bugger. According to Google and various forums it is located on the passenger side underneath the headlamp. Took out the lamp and front grill and couldn't find it at all.

Thank you, I think i have come to the conclusion I'll run it to mot end of Jan if it lasts, doesn't get used all that much, most likely won't put a new test on it as the bodywork going, if it survives issue free till them may steam the engine of its oil leaks duck tape over the gaping holes and see what happens!

Hello,

Since I always swap my summer and winter wheels by myself, I bought myself a hydraulic jack. It's a trolley type. Now, I've tried it in the summer when I got it but the small cup on the jack and the small lug on the jacking point of the car resulted with a slipped jack and damaged sill on the VTS :cry: :cry: :cry:

I know that you got a massive knowledge and plenty workshop manuals so hopefully will be able to help me on this one. We havn't been using it much recently and have allowed it to run low on fuel a few times.

I had both wheels off the C5 today to inspect everything and replace the fluid in the power steering when I came across several concerning issues.

Both struts were wet at the top with LDS, now I have already replaced the driver's side strut in the last year so seeing oil at the top is crushing.

During a routine inspection yesterday I noticed a fluid leak on the power steering rack had become noticeably worse.
It was more of a heavy mist 6 months ago but is now wet with LHM at the nearside.
Has anyone replaced the seals on this and if so how easy is it to find the parts and how difficult to do ?

At least all the returns are low pressure, so any sound repair will do the job. Same issue on XM occasionally, when the rubber elbows and joiners for the 3.5mm OD plastic return pipes join on to metal pipes. As you say, accessibility is the issue, rather than how to repair.

Quickie question - anyone know if the subframe has to be lowered to replace the low pressure power steering pipe on a C5 X7, or can it be removed and replaced with luck, skill, ingenuity and plenty of swearing in appropriate places without the need for dropping the subframe ? hi Bobbin, From your pic it is very likely there is minor corrosion and pitting on the mating surface of the O rings. Make sure the O ring mating and seat surface are smooth without any scratched marks or pitting . Any minor imperfections will results in leaks. Hi,

When I put full (or approaching full) steering lock on there is a squealing noise which I assume is the serpentine belt and sometimes the battery light comes on.

What I think is happening is that something causes the PAS pump to jam and this stops the belt from turning and hence the battery light illuminates.

Is this a known problem with...

Hello, as you may have seen in my intro post, I may be interested in acquiring one of these for the Hydractive 3+.

There's a cheap one (£500 and he says no offers as it will break for that) fairly close but it has a heap of problems.

The wet patch has returned but I'm staying optimistic, hoping it's water.

A forum search for to answer this, gives me nothing definite, even the Comma site gives two options, so, coolant top up:

OAT/non OAT, red or blue.

Car is C5, ew10a, mk2 exclusive.

I want something I can buy from a shop in town please, Halfords or Europarts, no mail order/online palaver. Its just coolant!

If it is any help, I got mine from ECP, partly as they are a ten minute drive from me.
They did supply completely the wrong one first, changed it with no problem but the wiring on the second one had to be bodged a bit as it was too short.

My car is C4 make year 2009 with AL4 auto gear box with 70,000 KM ( 43,750 Miles )

Sold my Xantia over the weekend 😢 to Pshemsky, so I have had a gander at a replacement and I want to stick with hydraulic suspension but something a bit more modern so I have had a look at a few C5's online, particular one I am viewing tomorrow is a 54 plate registered 2005 (seller is nit sure if it has Eolys fap/dpf) he has owned it since 2007....

My dash has been playing up a lot lately so I thought hell while I'm rolling down the hill on the M62 I'd turn off the engine and turn it back on, see if it kicks my dash into touch.

Regarding the clip, insert a small flat bladed screwdriver where it clips together and twist, to refit, use a pair of nail removing pincers (nail as in hammer and nail), these will reclip the tang, then strike the clipped tang, takes seconds.

After exactly 3 years of pretty-troublefree motoring (car is LHD and is late 2009 excl. auto. 2.0Hdi 163) I am now seeing a few niggling problems and wonder where to start.
First, the passenger side wing mirror will not fold in. The glass adjustment works ok and the assembly does try to retreat, but won't fully fold in.

Ah, you have one of the very few Citroens with the Embarrassment System circuits fitted. This system will do something that winds you up, but when you take the car in for repair everything works perfectly. :D

I think you'll find very few of them *without* that circuit fitted.

This is why I now drive an Octavia!

2. Do all C5s (2008 on) have two reversing lights, one each side?

Good advise, will recheck with another gauge and add some more air to 35psi. Meantime the following day it seems to have normalized itself, no more warning or service indicators showing. All I need to find is a continuous 12VDC power source for the Car Cam and all life will be back to normal 😀👍

I bought a 2009 C3 Picasso 1.6Hdi 110 and i would like to fit LED headlight bulbs (which are completely illegal here :mrgreen: )

Turns out the retaining clip for the halogen bulbs prevents the fitment of LEDs.
Now i'm looking for a set of spare ones to modify them but can't find any. I prefer ordering them online and haven't asked a Citroen...

I hope someone can help....

If I go to the car the front suspension is dropped in the lowest position (but the rear suspension fine).
If I open the door, start the engine, the front suspension will rise to the normal level. But it will slowly drop again, then correct and rise up, slowly drop again, then correct and rise up.....and so on. Every 10...

Hi all,
The turbo on my c5 seems to work ok. It has an odd feeling and sound coming from it that makes me wonder if something’s about to go pear shaped. The normal turbo whistle I get with this car(which I don’t get on my Uk car off same year) varies as the speed increases, it’s almost like the turbo has a torque converter and is changing gear......

It's barely audible, but I can just make out a very slight whine at the last third of the clip.

Turbo whine is normal - but unless it starts changing the sound and 'shrieking' I wouldn't worry about it. If you start losing power then I would do a little more investigation such as look at turbo vacuum hoses for splits or leaks.
