Saxo noise from front

Unread post by Jonathancilia »

Hi guys my saxo diesel developed a bad bearing like noise from the front, it is not noticable until 50km/h, after that noise begins to drop. I jacked the car up and front passenger side wheel has a very slight play at 6 and 12 oclock position. I replaced the bearing on this side 3 months ago aswell, and it was SKF brand. Is it possible its maybe the driveshaft that is making the noise or is it the wheel bearing again? Driveshaft when i grab it and pull it in and out has some clunk noise in it but i think thats normal, they also were replaced with J&R ones about three years ago aswell.

What kind of noise? Like an aircraft drone or something else? The play may mean the bearing wasn't seated properly or damaged though if that's the case the circlip is hard to fit. It could also be the intermediate bearing on the driveshaft, although I've had those that are really ropey and not given any audible noise. This is on the RHS on the PSA diesels I've had, I'm presuming your car is a LHD so passenger side is RHS? Does the noise change when going round tightish corners?

Notice the BX is still top the list but sadly gone

Car is RHD, its a 1.5 diesel with power steering aswell, its kind of humming noise but only comes at 50kmph and starts declining after that, noise changes when turning both sides as far as i can tell. Usually bearing has play 3 and 9 o clock not 6 and 12 o clock on the wheel right?
