Xantia RFV engine timing marks

Hi

How to I align the timing pulley of the inlet/outlet camshafts and the crankshaft. Are there any marks on the three pulleys ( inlet/outlet camshafts and crankshaft ) that are used to set the timing correctly?

Hi

As most Citroën engines, these use timing pins to align crank and camshafts.
On these old engines a drill bit may suffice.

Timing pins is the only way to set these engines up correctly. BUT BEWARE ! the crankshaft pulley starts life as two metal parts, with a bonded rubber damper in the middle. With age the outer part with the timing hole can move, so the timing will be out.
Before dismantling fit all three pins to see if it all lines up correctly. Better still use a new crank pulley.
