Given the number of 'After-sales campaign' notices concerning Takarta Airbags I have been made aware of when looking up parts from PSA for members, I thought I would post a link to the following documentary that may be informative concerning the issue with these igniters.

According to Takata, the chemicals in the airbags’ explosive charge can...

Disruption to Parts Service

This has caused some problems for organisations like ours and the Team are currently looking at the best way forward. This...

Would this be the one of those fuzzy logic boxes, sounds like it to me with the three modes of operation, could be simple wiring fault, go over all connectors from gearbox and ECU wiring to start with ensuring they are sound.

andrew,
have you got a multi meter?, set it up on voltage, place the probe leads on each of the points on the battery, with the engine running,
you should see an input of about 13-15volts, this means that you alternator is putting voltage back into the battery that the engine takes out.
hope this is of some help.

If it's just cracked and not rusty, you can brase it or silver solder it in place (with the hydraulic pressure released, of course). Mel,
It is doubtful in my book that this in itself would have caused problems although not impossible.
In years gone by, I have managed this achievement both in cars & on motorbikes; in the case of cars (and also bikes) being rear wheel drive, it can lead to some fancy acrobats particularly if the rear wheels lock up, which is the likely...

abs ecu

I have tried to get a secondhand ecu for my 94 xantia sx, the breakers had one from a xantia but the numbers were different.
On my old ecu the numbers are (ate) 10.0202.0059.4 and (citroen)96.12.78.36.80. The one at the breakers were (ate) 10.0202.0059.4 the same as mine but the citroen was 96.12.78.37.80 very similar just one number difference,...

ah, another little gem then!
This topic sort of covered a similar subject, its to do with either over sensitive sensors, wind blowing throgh the dash vents, or faulty door sensors, I believe.

Been kept quiet on the new toy for all of 6 days and it's already got me thinking of ripping bits out of it!! Hi Martin,
I'm not sure about Xantia's but on my XM, there's one in the conventional place (a´la triumph herald) and one at the back edge of the door, in the B-post. In addition, there's one on the microswitch for the central locking system, hidden inside the drivers door.

GOING DOTTY

Easy peasy, there is a product for doing this which i guess you should easy get from a well stocked auto center (i bought some in Motor World). Great little substance, you spray it on as a liquid, then it foams up and dries, then you hoover up the foam and bingo, all the mess is gone

Okay, another question from me. Has anybody got any tips for cleaning the headlining? I have some wee black mildew dots inside the AX that I wish to sell. It has never leaked all the time I have had it and the dots didn't put me off too much (obtained several assurances from vendor that he would solve any water leaks I found in first few months)....

Bad start on AX 1.5 Diesel elation

Vanny,
I think you know the drill....
Glow plugs has got to be your first port of call. If you are getting reasonable turning over speed then the earths etc should be OK, but definitely worth checking. Try a second heating and see if that improves the starting.
Yes there is a post start glow period, but the relay should stay in all the time I'd...

Air lock on xantia fuel

by JohnD » 05 Nov 2002, 23:35

First post

Hi Oli - Nothing to worry about - well not too much, we've all suffered from it from time to time. The fuel line from the tank to the injectors have always got to be full of fuel. If more than a few bubbles of air leaks in, it get's increasingly difficult to start the engine. Your mechanic opened the bleed screw and pumped fuel through the fuel...

Smoking Engine before Turbo!

by JohnD » 05 Nov 2002, 23:47

Have a look at the air filter first. It's maybe past its sell-by date. Then try a bottle of injector cleaner in your fuel tank.

Last post

Just purchased Xantia 1.9td sx, works fine apart from when accelerating 0 - 2k revs engine smokes and loses power (as if its blocked) then as soon as the turbo kicks in, usual puff of smoke and no smoking, also large smoke cloud on starting (usually overnight).
Any suggestions, thanks in advance

Xantia dorr mirror (manual)

by Dave Burns » 05 Nov 2002, 03:32

Don't know about the cables, but I'd have a look if the wiring is there for electric ones, if it was I'd be off to a breakers and snare a pair of them and all the trim bits to go with'em, the glass is also heated, very handy when jack frost shows up, you should get'em both for less than the cost of a new manual one.
Worth a thought.

Swing Arm Bearings - How many ?

by alan s » 04 Nov 2002, 15:32

Forget how many bearings unless you want to turn a fairly easy job into one full of headaches. Buy them as a kit. That should include the bearings (2) possibly spacer & thrust washers required to set the pre-load. I would suggest that any less would be false economy and you could end up doing the job twice, or maybe 3 times and eventually in...

ZX gear linkages

Clutch replacement on a Xantia

by JohnD » 04 Nov 2002, 23:44

To check the adjustment of the clutch, measure from the centre of the foot pad to a point at the low edge of the steering wheel. Depress the pedal to the floor and measure again to the same point on the wheel. Take one measurement from the other, and the difference should be 150mm. If it isn't do the adjustment at the clutch end of the cable. If a...
