zx central locking

my 94 zx 1.9d has developed a fault with alarm and locking. It will not operate at all with the plip (new batteries) it will centrally lock with the key. as well as this the flashing alarm led stays on all the time but not flashing.

Do you just have the one plip or have you tried it with the "spare"
I had problems with a dry joint on the connections to the infrared LED which a quick run over with a soldering iron and multicore solder sorted out..
dunno about your alarm light though.....

i only have 1 plip
it worked fine and the dash led blinked when armed
then it all went french

You can check your plip if you have access to a digital camera with an lcd display type "viewfinder". point your plip at the camera lens whilst looking at the display and you should be able to see the Infrared LED flashing when you press the plip. If not and the red IS flashing then I would definitely suspect a dry jont on the IR LED. Dead easy to sort out as I mentioned earlier.
