Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

My xantia's 2.0i automatic gearbox is out of order. The rear gear stuk permanent.
From the Citroen dealer here in Cyprus, they told me that this could not be fixed and is better to replace it with a new one.

morning guys,so yesterday i went to do the accumulator and the 2 front spheres on my newest xantia,i seriously doubt they have been changed since they were factory fitted as there is no travel in the front and the ride is as hard as the road ,back end is fine for now until i get a few more quid together

Has anyone experienced a stuck or seized in cigarette lighter on a MK1 Xantia and if so how did you free it ?

Mine is solid in there and some kind soul at work has just given me a make sure your driving safely speed camera scanner...but i cant plug it in :roll:

My V6 one was pretty well stuck together but in the opposite sense to yours Vince. It will not go fully in so useless for it's intended purpose and if you try, it gets stuck fast.

I was able to tease it out and then hide it.

Best bet is, as said, remove the complete ashtray and replace it from a scrapper or at least with teh assembly out it is...

How much LHM do you think the tails hold in dead ends of brake circuits.

I bled about half a jam jar out of each brake bleed nipple.

Including the pipes do we think more or less is needed?

Recently I got a coolant leak on my 1.9 TD Xantia SX. It seemed to be coming from the lower offside area of the radiator. Not a very accessible area. The rad was new earlier this year. It leaked mostly when warming up and cooling down; didn't seem to leak much when hot.

Today I had time to look at it and I washed the entire area down with water...

Went to GSF today and explained the problem. A helpful man looked around but they did not have any blanking plugs. I showed him the nylon plug on the rad and he came up with a 'rad thermo switch' GSF p/n N93476 that should fit. Came to £12.08. A job for tomorrow.

My battery has become knackered so I took it upon myself to change it this morning. All was going well, I had a spare supply set up to ensure 12v remained supplied to the car. Just want to know before I put this on - it's famous on the Forum as a source of fault codes.

It appears the two red O-rings apply friction, to retain alignment. Is simply cleaning the section of steering shaft enough to get a dependable grip, or have people tended towards an adhesion promoter like a small smear of Sikaflex or similar?

i wouldnt put any adhesive on a moveing part at all,

you should know the dangle of your steering on a citroen what ever the computer is telling you, as thats what the chevrons on the steering wheel are for aint it TEA HE

I think it depends on the colour. I swopped my lights over to dark S1 for my S2 Activa which really suits it. The S2 lights then went on the S1, which actually make it look cleaner and more modern, but maybe the colour coded number plate plinth helps.

@vertvega. No the tyre is there. Its the brace to turn the tyre lock thats not in the supposed compartment.

Hi,

I've just bought one of those devices to allow me to use my ipod with the car stereo via FM. It plugs into the cigar lighter socket. Problem is that the socket is deeply recessed and it will only just make a connection. Does anybody know of a device that I could fit into the socket to bring the connection up a bit? some sort of extender...

Rear c5 door stuck, no pressure at all on either handle. Suspect linkage broken, how do you get into this to sort it out gievn you cant get it open.

The child lock only stops the door from opening from the inside , If it was just the child lock stuck on it should still open from the outside ??

Removing the seat base just gives you a bit more room to get the panel off, It's worth spending the extra 10 seconds removing it & you dont even need any tools to remove it either.

I've just replaced the MAF sensor on my C5 - the cars now running perfectly but the engine service light is still on - am I correct in believing that it will reset itself after a few miles?

Thanks everone for the help - I've just it driven for the 4th time and its reset itself, so issue resolved.

However be aware that the fault is still logged in the ECU so should you have another problem and take it to a garage which puts it on a Lexia they could be forgiven for thinking that you have a MAF fault :-)

Guys, I wonder if you can help me with my little problem.

I have a Xantia 1.9 td SX 1996 and the Rear suspension on my car does not rise when the height adjuster is set to the normal ride position.

If I set it to the park position both front and back lowers to the correct height.

If I raise the setting to Full height both front and back raise...

No it'sthe other one attached to the spring gubbins. I've made a rather inelegant clip which should hold the plastic link onto the pivot ball. Next step is to make a shield to keep the elements off the whole mechanism.

ok i've got a 1.9 td xantia on a p plate, i've done some digging around on here cause i got problems and found what i think to be my problem but thought i'd ask any way,

right the problems
1. on first start up (or after car has been sitting for more than 30 mins) the rear end drops from normal riding hight to the floor then takes about 30...

Searched the forum without any joy on a pictorial or info regarding changing this on V6. My V6 has low miles on clock (58k) but belt should maybe be changed as it is 11 yrs old. Does this belt not have high mileage service life though ?

Finally managed to remember to bypass the boost control electrovalve before driving home tonight. This is to check if that is causing the intermittent power loss.

Hear what you say but the fault feels exactly the same with the EV connected or bypassed. So it could indeed be the ECU detecting overboost but I think it's due to the sensor reading incorrectly. Without a Lexia of course it's all shooting in the dark really !!

The sensor is the only way the ECU can detect overboost , so thats the prime suspect I...

one of my colleagues has a saxo that his wife drives, and it is currently making some unpleasant graunching noises, so they took it to their local mainstealer and were quoted £1,200 for a replacement! :shock:

Rad fans have officially gone crazy on my xantia.

They are coming on full belt at random, i.e on startup, 60 deg on temp gauge etc. The engine is running fine & not overheating, coolant temps are spot on.

My xanita has aircon which is not working, due to bypassed compressor/no gas etc.

Could it be something to do with the a/c system? if i pop...

Can anyone tell me what battory or battory's go in the 1997 Xantia key fob (IR unit for a VSX), I have to ask as when I brought mine it had two different battory's in it and the one I got from ebay only has one.
After replaceing the ebay one for the same type of battory it has gone flat in just a few weeks, so somthing must be wrong.

I don't think so, it would surely have a different picture on the button. As I said both of the auxilliary buttons have the same picture which definitely shows a door, not a tailgate or bootlid.

Query about the C8. Does the exclusive model have two electrically sliding doors? If so, I think that this will be the culprit. Possibly the Peugeot...

I have a year 2000 Xsara 90 HDI and the heater blower has just stuck on full.
The heat control and direction dials still work, i just can't turn it off.

Really not sure what the problem is.
Any ideas wound be very helpful. :)

My Xsara has aircon if that helps.

As the subject title. Turns out the Venturi 300 uses the 4-button late BX driver side window controller. About the size of a fag packet, black box, inside driver's door. Should say on the box:

I've just (after much looking) purchased a 2003 Xsara HDI SX 110. I'm getting to know it at the moment but first impressions are good - lots of poke, reasonably well screwed together for a Citroen and rides well, although no comparison to my BX!

Hi Folks, my car is a 2litre HDI diesel C5 2002 model.
Yeaterday morning after driving to work ( about 24 miles ) I could get a strong smell of diesel. When I opened the bonnet I was met by a cloud of smoke. On further investigation I discovered that one of the leak off pipes between the injectors had been eaten by a mouse or rat and leaked fuel...

Hi Gents, this is what not to do after re fitting a Bosch diesel pump...

DO NOT forget to remove the pump drive gear locking pins before you get your missus to spin the starter motor while you try to bleed the injector piping... the pins WILL hold the gear in place, the crankshaft WILL continue to spin, the belt WILL jump the gears and you...

The remote alarm setting key on my xantia has always been a bit tempermental but always worked eventually.I changed the battery recently and that didn't make any difference.Of late it has only worked if I hold the key in a horizontal position(in my right hand)and push slightly downwards on the rubber thingy.

Can someone please brave the deep autumnal weather to take a photo of their socket mount panel on a Xantia towbar?

It has a flip action, and a return spring - but this was never set up correctly on mine and I can't figure it out. The installers also left out three bolts in the mounting! :shock:

I'm not sure but I believe you change the spring tension (therefore the break pressure) the injector will break at when you alter the torque...

Evening all,

Today our 1.6 hdi 04 plate citroen picasso has broken down.

I was being driven and then would not 'go' any more.

The engine starts to problem and the clutch can be operated without any unusual noises.

When you jack one wheel up put it in first and 'drive' in the wheel off the ground spins but if enough force is applied you can...

When you say the clutch stops turning do you mean the centre plate (not sure you could see this) or the whole assembly? If it's the whole assembly then it would mean that it must be fitted with a dual-mass flywheel which has failed. I don't know for sure if a DMF is fitted to this model, they are on more powerful citroen HDis.

Hi,

Just bought a Mk1 Xantia TD Estate and have noticed a strange fault with it.

When the engine is on the overrun, the rev counter drops to zero. Works perfectly the rest of the time.

Anyone any ideas?

Hi Wainy,

I had a similar problem on mine, but it just didnt work :P

The problem with mine was the crank sensor located down the back of the engine. Was easy to change, and for me thats saying something :) and GSF and other places sell them.....they arent dear. Make sure you get the right one though if you need one as there are 2 different...

Hdi90 (Sept 2000; 39,000miles) shows black smoke on hard acceleration. Particularly noticeable last night going uphill with car headlights behind. Stain appears on (silver) bodywork around exhaust, but this takes a long time to appear (eg. after a trip Doncater - Bordeaux there was a light film of black).

While driving (my son's) C5 yesterday, everything suddenly went from normal to engine cutting out and display showing immobilisor active . I removed the two fuel pipes (one is s return pipe) at the fuel filter, and cranked the engine - no fuel coming. Checked the pump (under the seat) and some fuel was present outside the pump & on the pump cover....

Hi, I've recently noticed some surface cracks on the hydraulic hose that goes from LHM reservoir to the HP pump.
They are only on the lower part, near accumulator. There's no leak and no sweat (yet)! I guess that'll not last for a long time.
I've measured connector pipe diam on the reservoir side but it's not possible on the pump side.

Ive had a front wheel bearing job in... dismantled the hub, got the massive circlip out, ALL the middle of the bearing has fallen out, but the out reace has remained in place!

Other then blow lamp heat, any other easy ways of removing the outer race, new bearing ready to go in...

I HATE dooing front...

First job up on V6 mK1 Auto Xantia. Have done them on standard cars. This is different right?. Is car best on front wheel ramps or jacked and wheel off with axle stand? Healthy ticking from front so first up the sphere and then take it from there.........

Its a tick on the regulator unit.. never mind, shes comming to bits start of next year to sort rusty front strut feed pipes, an oil leak, air conditioning and front bumper...

Shes only used as weekend car atthe moment.
