New xantia

Post by KennyW »

Hi All,

After much looking I have just got a another Xantia which i found in Auld reekie.

It is white estate 130,00 on the clock and a full service history by a good independant citroen garage for less than £900.

It is another diesel but the 2.0 Hdi 90 hp,it runs good.

Will post a pic in due course.

Hi All,

Got the car today and I have found a few niggles which i did expect.

Firstly, a little play in the steering - will check the track rod end ball joints as I have 2 new ones in the garage.

Secondly, juddering when braking medium to heavy I will check for the usual corrison behind calipers, warped discs but if the ball joints are moving it may have an effect.

If any of you think it could be anything else just post it :)

Kenny

P.S I better change my signature slightly.

Welcome back Kenny :D

Yes, do the play in the steering first. Check it's not the inner balljoints.

Certainly any play in the steering will cause heay braking judders just as warped discs will.

Another potential cause is worn 'P' bushes...

It could also be a worn lower Ball Joint. As was the case with my Xantia recently. replaced Ball Joint and the Judder has disappeared.
