Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Hi All,

Never a dull day in Xantia ownership :lol:

A problem which has gradually got worse on the V6 but I havent got around to posting about is the clock randomly resetting itself to midnight January 1st.

At first it might happen once a week or so, now it's reached the point where it resets at least a couple of times a day, so I don't even...

I've got to the stage where I need to know the code when attempting to change config settings in the BSI, I've lost my notes and can't for the life of me remember how to derive the code. Is it a coded-function of the vin? Might I need a contact for vin to pin on Digital Kaos site etc?

I hope you fine gentlemen can assist me with this, basicaly the Activa eats cheap P bushes for breakfast lunch and tea, this as you can imagine gets pretty annoying replacing the P bush 3 times a day. Since I am still without my new car I wonder if someone can tell me about the manual mode of the auto box?
What happens if in manual mode in 6th if I stop at a junction and try to set off? Does it select first? Or stay in 6th and not go?
If I rev too high in manual does it change up anyway?

It has two clutches, do these wear out? The box is...

Remember guys to change oil regularly, eventhough Citroen says you haven´t to. I´m going to do that after every 30-40000km. It´s a lot cheaper than fixing your gearbox, and doesn´t cost that much.

Every 24000 miles or so? Is it really needing it that regular?
Do you just do the drain 3 litres and replace 3 every 40000km, or do that process two...

Check the websites, some give the battery weight, generally the more lbs of lead per £ the better the battery.

Hi,

I've had issues with my clutch/gearbox over the last 4 months.

It first started with a snatchy uptake in first gear. Next the gears became increasingly difficult to select (as though the clutch was dragging) and depressing the pedal felt heavy. Finally as I attempted to change gear yesterday the clutch pedal shot to the floor and stayed...

I have felt and crawled all over the interior but cannot find a wheel or other device for adjusting the headlamps.

On page 48 of the manual it refers to what it says is automatic correction of the headlamps - well, if that's so, they don't appear to have made much difference on the way to France through Dorset the other week in the middle of the...

Self leveling suspension is not enough for C5's with Xenon's, It doesent react fast enough. The C5's that have standard Xenons fitted have a seperate auto adjustment systen for the headlamps, I would therfore imagine that it may not have a manual adjuster wheel for them.

Here's what a brief search on the Bay turned up:

From the description, it appears that this will fit my 2009 2.2 C5 estate.

But is it that straightforward? Might I run into problems having this fitted? Should I get some part numbers instead and use that info for condenser selection?

Just arrived at work with the stop light on, and LHM pi$$ing out from the front left corner of the car, literally at the bumper - which is a bit of an odd place I think.

There's green on the bulkhead under the battery tray but I can't see anywhere else obviously wet. I'm wondering about the underside of the LHM tank?

the drivers side front clicks when i 1st press the pedal, it only does it in reverse, it sounds like the pad hitting the disc, it only clicks once - when i 1st depress the pedal.

any ideas?

i do a lot of 3-point turn doing my job and its driving my bonkers :shock:

malcolm,because ive put a earlier hub on will that make abs light come on,am i best changing to the hub of the original one back on the car?..just with it being 2 different sensors thought they may be 2 different hubs with different abs rings

i dont know what difference there is between the two different ABS sensor's,

Recently changed the o/s rear trailing arm on my C5 mk2 estate,i had to put a 2nd hand one on as the arm had worn oval,the 2nd hand one came with the caliper and disc fitted so i fitted the whole lot.had to drill the old abs sensor out of the 2nd hand arm,put car back together and now the abs and esp light comes on,how do you check a abs sensor?...

Put some Forte fuel treatment in about 1000 miles ago and it did wonders so put some more into day.

Got in the car and the warning came on after a minute, car done 86k and fluid last topped up at 50k. Do you think the fluid is low or the Forte treatment playing tricks?

If it is low where is the best place to buy and how easy is it to fill up...

Is the linkaged adjustable on the C5 ? I have just had the clutch changed etc and have the car back but second gear is a bit rough and reverse in hard work to get.
My friend did the clutch change and says he took the block off the gearbox with the cables on and didnt remove the cables he will check that the block is on right but otherwise he...

I'm not sure if the C5 cables are the same as the Xantia but on the last Xantia I had the outer cable had come loose from the crimped end and instead of moving the link it slid in and out of the crimp when I tried to engage reverse.

I bodged it with a home made clamp and it's still going ok now two years on.

Hi

Iv had my 2004 c2 vtr plugged into a computer today due to an airbag fault. The guy with the computer saids it's the right hand connector below the drivers seat. Iv now taken the connector off and re terminated all connection in a temporary connector bloc. The air bag fault hasn't gone away! What else can I do? Could it be else where?

I have just fitted a new clutch kit into my 2005 Citroen Berlingo 1.8 diesel.
After reassembling and reconnection of electrical plugs I have found a problem.

Hi there.

I have a Citroen C5 2002 V6 exclusive with a odd problem, the passages side HID bulb comes on for 3-5 seconds then flickers and goes out. :?
Does this mean the bulb has gone, or that the ballast has failed?

just back from a 500 mile round trip down and up the M6 in my 58 plate C5 2.0 diesel. fantastic on the motorway, nice and quiet with the laminated glass, cruise control on, good stereo, comfortble seats and suspension, 45 mpg overall and thats with 3 people, fully loaded with a bike on the roof! what more could you want ? :-D

hi to you all and hope someone out there can guide me in the right direction. i have the above car (2002) which since purchase has had multiple electrical issues and after a couple of trips to the garage is still playing up. the original complaint was almost total loss of power and a gear box (auto) that kept wanting to change down) when coasting....

My year 2000 Xantia HDi dropped its front offside window recently. Having got inside the door the problem seems to be the regulator, which has a broken wire. Does anyone know the following, please.....?

Do I just need to buy the regulator rather than the motor as well?

The factory price is ludicrous. I have been quoted £431. I can access much...

Hi :D

I've registered today to try and pick your brains on a problem with my wife's car. She has a 2003 C3 1.4 HDi Exclusive - this has the digital climate control system.

Thank you myglaren, your info plus very good photo of the location helped me quickly fix my C3. The fan was blowing at full blast continually, so had removed fuse to make life bearable, replaced the 'Heater Blower Motor Resister' for £30 plus post (ebay). it's forums like this and the generous members that make the net work IMHO.

Hi,

I've got a 1998 1.9TD Xantia which I believe is a version 2 (it has the intercooler at the front). Disabling the immobiliser is performed by using the keypad so am I correct in assuming there is no transponder in the key fob?

I only got one key with the car and would like another cut just in case. Could I get by just getting another key cut?...

There's no need to go to a Citroen dealer for an expensive key even though they have to be cut from a unique cruciform blank. Try any branch of Mr Minit - about £10 when I had one cut and it works perfectly.

Does anyone know which wires to join to wire the blower back in?

I have a replacement fan from a breakers but it doesn't have the plug attached, they cut the wires to get it out!! It just has a black wire and a white wire. I have found a plug under the glove box which has 4 wires which I assume that it joins to, but which wires go to which?...

they don't look like cit wires, all grey and colour coded.

it definitely is citroen wire/plug as that is exactly what there wiring is like,

you should be able to deduce what it's for by the colour coding using a schematic

I picked up a 52 plate C5 HDi for 250Pounds, taxed and MOT'd.

Its done 172,000 miles, always serviced, but a problem with the tip tronic autobox which I believe is an AL4 as it doesn't have a dipstick on the box.

From cold, if you try to push the car too hard, you get a clunk from the box (presumably it shifting into a safer gear), service...

I know the earlier 2.2HDi has 136bhp out of the box and the later one was updated to 173bhp, is this purely an engine remap via the ecu or were there mechanical changes made to the engine? I've noticed from another post that the 2009 2.2 engine designation is DW12BTED4 FAP, my 2002 runs a DW12TED4 FAP so the only difference is a B so would it be...

There were changes to the turbo (making them twin!), the intercooler is different, the injectors are different, the flywheel is different, the air intake/induction/swirl valves are different.

Just about the only common part is the badge on the back of the car!

Found conflicting advice on this.

i'm about to fit a parrot car kit to my Mk 1 C5 Exclusive.

I don't have a radio manual with the car - does it have a radio code. I don't want to disconect the power to find I need a code.

When fitting the Parrot kit do not take the power from the radio. Take the +12V ignition power from the cigarette lighter socket and the permanent 12V supply from the 12V accessory socket behind the gear lever. If you use the radio supplies the BSI will detect the power drain and the car will keep going into eco mode.

Hi all,
130K miles in and I can hear a whistle from the turbo on the C5.
Does this mean trouble ahead? What should I be checking?
I could convince myself that the power is not being delivered smoothly at a constant throttle setting There seems to be a slight pulsing.
Any ideas?

I fitted a after market exhaust to my 405 TD and it whistled quite loudly, the problem was traced to a poorly fitting joint. Surprisingly it wasn't noisy in the usual way.

Hi all, just like to update you all on battery charge fault problem, after removing alternator and bearing I had them tested and both were unrepairable, also the belt had been put on incorrectly by someone previously as it was rubbing against a casing and the auto tensioner was in-operative. So new alternator, bearing and belt fitted, problem now...

Hi All

I have now (atlast) had the Connects 2 CTVPGX010 Aux adaptor fitted
:D

It was delayed several weeks as I had ordered from an online company
which in the end doesn't seem to exist and i had to go through paypal to get a refund :shock:

Anyway I can report got great service from a more local radio dealer
and device was quick and easy...

well it works ok.. the connects2 tells the car there are 2 cd's in.. in reality I plug the MP3 (phone) player into it and it plays through stereo..

but..
not loud enough.. ok for day to day use but sometimes you just want more ;) also, changing from this back to FM, the jump in volume is scary..

I've taken on a very very very late s1 V6 (on a V plate) which shows 140k and has a gorgeous gearbox, interior etc etc
yet it was destined to be weighed in as it's failed the CO emissions on the MOT. It had LPG fitted to it but it wouldn't
run on gas as there was electrical issues with the installation - this has now been removed and there are...

Get it on a Lexia and check the MAP sensor and oxygen sensor. Don't randomly do things until you have been Lexia'd.

If it's idling high you have manifold air leaks.. Fix them.

The kitten may prevent a pass. You may have to get a proper one on there for the MOT. Those kittens are not up to the job.

Get the gas working. It'll then be tested as a...

Have C5 HDi Auto with Trafficmaster and it goes offf all the time when you dont start first time.

Couldn't find a disable in C5 manual.

I dont need them to remind me of the no. and that the licence has expired allthe bl**dy time!!!

Hi All,
Today on the way to work the screen in the C5 flicked up a suspension fault warning. It had gone when it was time to come home but soon reappeared and I limped the 30 miles home at 50.
As far as I can tell, the pump is not running. It doesn't make any noise when opening the doors and the car won't respond to the suspension height...

I don't know much about these, but from what I've seen, you can either buy a complete ready-made DVD player cum head rest and put that in place of your OEM ones, or you can tear the guts out of your OEM and diy. Main issue being power supply?

Anyone done anything like this on their C5?

Hey guys

I feel that either my spheres are in need of replacement (could be, the car is 11 years old) or that I'm stuck in hard mode all the time.
The Lexia says it's in soft mode the majority of the time like it should but the ride is as bumpy as hell, and the H3+ Sport button doesn't make a difference to the ride.

Would the Lexia report hard...

Just got a Xantia 2.0L SX Hdi and one little thing thats annoying me is that the drivers side window starts dropping whilst driving.The most it has ever dropped is around 5 or 6 inches,so i don't think it has come off the guides or whatever their called.
