Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Hello all,

On my BX ('92 TXD break) the rev counter, the odometer and the trip counter stopped working, i.e. they aren't moving at all.
The trip counter can't even be zeroed by pressing the button.

Please don't ask whether this happened simultaneously, I don't know. I just noticed it on my way to work this morning.

Dear all

If you are overhauling the suspension, be careful when ordering the three seals that go inside the rear suspension hydraulic system as some cars have the part number for a complete 40mm cylinder (as fitted), but show the individual seals for the 37mm (as fitted to H3 mark 1 C5's).

Hi there.
Just a quick sanity check really. I am replacing the o/s lower ball-joint on my Mk1 1990 AXGT, or rather replacing the arm as I don't have access to a press to get the BJ out!

Should be an easy job BUT - the balljoint 'stick' on the new arm (where it inserts into the hub) is noticably larger in diameter than the old one (2mm dia wider...

Hi

Does anyone know what are the differences between the various circuit breakers ? Externally they look the same. On my car ( Xantia 2.0 16v Automatic hatchback , make year 2000 ) the Citroen part number is 527419. Do they vary between the different engine types ? Do all of them regulate the same pressure ?

Thanks for that, and yep every 5 seconds when the bleed screw is done up and at normal hight, it looks like it's cactus. i did some searching last night after posting the above comment and found this onclick= window.open(this.href);return false; so will be having a read this arvo when i get home from work.

With 150 000miles I amgetting a misfire ----feels like its on 3 cylinders below 15---2000 revs. It did this before last year and cured itself. On sunday i did 55o miles and never missed a beat, plenty power no smoke no excessive fuel consumption. Worst on cold start up, almost feels like electrical, considering a filter change and dosing with fuel...

I've had the side air bag light come on before, fixed by jiggling the connectors under the seat, but last couple of days the main air bag light has been coming on - continuous flashing, but not going to on all the time. Perhaps this is also connectors under the seat - I wonder if the belt tensioners are on the main circuit and the side bags on a...

Another option is to change the connector from your one to another S2 verison. Just a little soldering involved :)

I have an issue with my S2 Xantia, in that when it is parked, after an indeterminate amount of time the siren will go off, and the only way to shut it up is to disconnect the battery.

It is only the siren, not the alarm, as the lights don't flash, and If I use the plip to unlock, or put a key into the ignition it doesn't stop either. I can...

I have a (cheap) Lexia, and did that first - the alarm its self is not triggering, so there is nothing in the log, it was just the siren module deciding to go off on it's own.

Don't really want to disable the alarm totally, and I'm not sure it would have fixed the issue anyway.
Still, it appears to be behaving again for the moment...

Ignore the brake pedal height. These type of citroens (i.e.fitted with traditional hydraulic powered suspension) do not have a conventional brake master cylinder, therefore the brake pedal sits slightly lower than in most cars. The clutch cable should be adjusted to give the correct operation of the clutch, nothing else.

Driving along in the rain today in the Darlington area (if you were in the area you will know what it was like). Anyway i went through one of the puddles a little too quick and water came right up over the bonnet. Next thing the engine missed and the dreaded EML came on, showing antipollution fault. I undid mine about 1 turn and heard the rush of air.
When on low with engine running I noticed the bleed valve was stiffer when loosening it than with engine off so assume that is pressure buildup.
One thing I did notice is when I opened it, engine on, there was a ticking noise from the engine bay, like an injector rattle.

This fault relates to a MK2 Citroen Xantia 1.9TD automatic, dated 1998 with 145K on the clock.

This morning driving to work the Hydraulic fluid level warning came up, needed half a litre but surprisingly there was no sign of leakage on the floor. Ten miles later all of a sudden the steering became very heavy as if there was no power steering on...

My ABS sensor has lit up, Ive checked the resistance at the ABS ECU connector wih a multimeter, 3 are reading about 1880, but the FNS no reading at all, I guess the FNS is shot and I need to replace, but the forum indicates that the reading should be 1080, do I need to consider replacing any of the other sensors as well?

Hi, my Xantia seats are a little tired looking now and was wondering if anyone could recommend any good quality well fitting covers. The only cover I remember are the ones my dad used to used back in the day on his Escort. They were pretty bad but don't know if modern ones are any good.

That plug looks like it’s too high up the side to drain the box.
My trick for checking the level is to open the filler plug and look inside.
If the works are dry, it needs topping up.
If you see oil, there’s enough of it.

Right had the car a few months now, no probs. Little while ago was out for a long drive and dropped down a gear and put foot down to overtake, suddenly got the esp/asr anti pollution message but no loss of power and no limp mode. Mandrake you are right!!: Of course... I've noticed the same thing. They become very soft with the heat. Anyway this is a repair that I have under observation and permanent care. I also tried pipes similar to those in your photos but these were very rigid and replicate the original curves was not so easy....

How difficult it is to change a 6 speed manual box on a 2005 2.0 HDI?

Having removed air filter and various other bits it seems reasonably accessible and I have done lots of work on cars previously, although nothing major in recent years.

How do you access the set behind the speedometer and rev counter? Pleeeeease don't say remove the dashboard !

What type of bulbs will they be?

Yes you should have three. I guess a bulb has gone. When I got my Xantia several lights didn't work due to blown bulbs.

Interesting mine has never worked in 12 years :-D
Maybe somethng to get changed at some point :|
I'm also interested in the lights within the stereo as in the winter not always easy to see when turning TA on and off :!:

Hi all,

Today my 52 reg C5's Speedo and Tachometer both went off completely while driving. I pulled in to a parking bay and turned off the car, locked it, opened it, restarted it, and the Speedo & Revometer started working normally again.

I don't know if this was a total one off, or if it's going to be a repeating, intermittent fault.

Replacement sump was here when I arrived home this evening so will see what happens when I fit it, it didn't complain about being driven with no oil pressure - or oil for that matter but I did take it very gently. I did once drive a car back from London with no OP, it did have oil in the sump though!

IIRC you'll need to go into BSI then work through the screens until you come to the ones you're looking for in the menu's (normally customer options or configurations), click on the item you wish to change by pressing 'enter' on your keyboard which will bring up the option to change the setting, having changed the relevant settings to suit...

Hi I have a CD Changer to add to my 2006 C8. It has the Clarion RD3 standard head unit and I am connecting the stock Clarion changer. I haven't got the cable as yet to try it, but having read some threads, it seems that the Radio has to be programmed to open up the Changer port to enable it to work with the radio/display. Hi I have a Citroen Xantia sx 99 model 2.0
The accumulator sphere has lhm oil coming out of the nob on the top of the actual sphere itself. The rear end is basiclly on the ground and the front end is up in the air the suspension wont move at all up or down.

My question is would this all be caused by the leak from the accumulator sphere?
