'02 C5 Exclusive Estate tailgate won't open...

As per the title....tailgate won't open, and the rear-wiper stopped working at the same time.

Fuse for the wiper is fine.

Any suggestions what I should look for ?

I would check other fuses. I know that on a Vauxhall Astra (spits into drain!) estate the screen wash shares the fuse with the tailgate lock. When a friend tried to use his screen wash in cold weather the fuse blew, and as a result he couldn't get into the boot. Changing the fuse sorted that out.

Check the wires as they go into the roof/body inside the rubber tube..my old C5 broke these for the wiper and the top stop light
