Xantia 1.9TD starter motor clicks rapidly

Xantia 1.9TD starter motor clicks rapidly

Up on holiday near Whitby and just went to start Cassy but her starter motor just clicks rapidly like its slipping.
Called GEM so will see how they go.

I would say either you battery has had it or you have a bad connection somewhere.

Correct.
GEM's local mechanic came out and got Cassy started with his power pack.
The battery isn't holding a charge so I've got a new one on order to arrive tomorrow

That's the most likely problem, modern batteries often fail suddenly.

Gosh, another battery Xac? :o

I have a spare 1.9TD starter motor here with your name on it should you want it. Untested though but was good when removed from vehicle about 60 years ago......

Its not Cassy's original one is it?
I think this battery is an older on and had spent some time flat. Pretty sure Juliet and Jenny got the new batteries recently.
Still, ECP have got a sale on so getting a Bosch one delivered today.

Fitted the new battery and found one of the main + cables had popped out so it could be a combination of situations.
