Given the number of 'After-sales campaign' notices concerning Takarta Airbags I have been made aware of when looking up parts from PSA for members, I thought I would post a link to the following documentary that may be informative concerning the issue with these igniters.

According to Takata, the chemicals in the airbags’ explosive charge can...

Disruption to Parts Service

This has caused some problems for organisations like ours and the Team are currently looking at the best way forward. This...

I crashed my Diesel Savanna last year and replaced it with a TD Xantia, which I thought was several groups higher. The combination of accident (the claim for which went 50/50) and a faster car seems to have knocked 30% off my premium with the same company.

How would the real-life economy of this compare with my 1.9D Xantia? Dead against petrol but with the price difference and a lighter smaller car. might be OK

My 1.6, 8 Valve VTR used to give me approx 35MPG all styles of driving.

Accident on the motorway - injured !

Except I wasn't involved in the accident :?

A focus a few cars in front of us lost the rear end for some reason on the motorway ( not speeding etc.. ) - went and touched the central barrier, and then careered, seemingly in control towards the hard shoulder.

Except he went over the hard shoulder, and got flipped over by the kerb and rolled a few...

I don't relish the thought of being off work for three weeks, but I'm making up for it in the evening by ensuring that my alcohol level is acceptable bearing in mind I now have a no choice chauffer !

Just couldn't come at a worse time - I spent the weekend getting her AX ready...

Only got a quick glance but yesterday I spotted what I think was a mauve GS and a cream Ami in convoy driving through Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands...I was travelling in the opposite direction in heavy traffic.... I wonder if anyone on here knows them or even if they come on here themselves??

Unfortunately I havent the space to put such a beast.... but I don't mind asking if anyone else is interested.... or even better, I can give interested parties the address and you could 'make first contact' yourselves! :)

If it's a turbodiesel, I'd be very interested. I'll PM you.

The seller is in London, hence the slang.

Well this second auction has ended, and the seller received 9 bids.

The reserve it seems is set at £500, but given the condition of this banana coloured car they should accept that, otherwise it will be listed several more times, in the...

Hi

Just been learning about multiplexing / CAN on a training course.

All I can say is what a wonderful system CAN is.

Once it has been explained to you how it works, How easy it is to test with a multimeter & all the benefits CAN gives you I can honestly say I will never have a non CAN car again.

I thought learning about CAN would be a total...

data wires are useally twisted together to stop interference

I have always twisted wires together in an in-car auxilliary harness. The man from Clifford taught me that in 1996. He just took all the cable pairs, shoved them into the end of his new-fangled 6 Volt cordless, and twisted them up. I have copied that every since. EMF reduction, and a...

The day before yesterday (that would be Sunday) as I was traveling down the M4 westbound towards Carmarthen I saw the strangest thing.....A yellow 2CV van painted in the tiger stripes theme. It looked like a huge tiger trying (and I use the word trying looseley  ) to do 60 mph. It was heading eastbound towards Swansea. If this was anyone on...

On sunday, whilst at work( for the ambulance service) we came across a huge cloud of smoke, across both sides of the dual carriage way. At the centre of this was 3yr old td laguna parked on a slip road with its throttle stuck fully open.
It actually belongs to my mate, who's wife was driving it at the time. She had two dashboard lights come on,...

It seems that more and more of our forums are being taken up with trying to solve complex elec gremlims... :-(

Having read someones comment that they would remove the air con and chuck the lot in the bin -- Could this be done with ECU stuff? remove and dump the lot in the bin? :D

If so... I may get a newer car.. lmho    8)

Does my 1997 1.9TD Xantia have an OBD plug and, if so, where?

I work in an electronics factory and I'm not sure that we could get the bits on an ECU for £20. Having said that, we deal mostly in low volumes and don't have the buying power of a car manufacturer. There are program writing costs too.

Do ECUs really cost £300 anyway? I'm sure I...

Take a look at this link below, and read the description. :)

Apparently the cosmetic damage to the paintwork (scratches) does not affect the speed of the car ! :D

So, the damage has not affected the drag coefficient ! LOL

Apparently the Peugeot family headed by Robert Peugeot are buying a chateau and winery near Bordeaux, just weeks after closing the Coventry plant.

The report I have seen about this has a quote from the unions who say they are not happy about this.

It would seem that they are more concerned about the future of the Chateau Guirard, and have spent...

Just think that there are forklift trucks out there that have been for years running much more high tech advanced CAN - BUS multiplex systems then anything PSA Peugeot Citroen have ever fitted to a car yet & they work just fine day in & day out.

This is a bit off-topic, but still relevant:

You've made the point as to why they are still working...
