SPOTTED
Only got a quick glance but yesterday I spotted what I think was a mauve GS and a cream Ami in convoy driving through Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands...I was travelling in the opposite direction in heavy traffic.... I wonder if anyone on here knows them or even if they come on here themselves??

Didn't get a good look at either... but the mauve paint looked a bit 'flat' and there were numerous stickers on itStuart McB wrote:IF that GS had those old fashoined rally type bonnet stops then it may be from Tally Ho! on the Pershore Road in Birmingham. I was over there the other day (don't ask why) and saw one parked up. Not in the best conditions I must add.

That belongs to the guy i bought my Xantia off. He's crazy about low mileage mint Citroens. My Xantia V6 at 35k was one of the highest mileage motors he owned.Rob81 wrote:I haven't seen a G series on the road for years. That GS Service van on ebay recently nearly made me wet myself!
He's got everything from a GS Birotor, though to a 17k BX, to a 20k DS to a 30k SM. You name it with chevrons on it........ he's got it and its mint. Ami, 2cv, AX, XM, Xantia, C5 etc etc.

It seems that the change in weather has brought out the Citroen Classics.... must remember to carry my camera with me....
That might be interesting ..... have them posted on the forum!!

Not a Citroen but I saw a FIAT 128 in Whitburn yesterday, it occurred to me that I hadn't seen one for at least ten, probably fifteen years. In the afternoon I saw a tidy W plate Mk3 Escort. There are still plenty Mk4s going around and some sporty/chavved up Mk3s but it's pretty unusual to see a standard 1.3GL around here.
I suppose it's a sign of old age that I can remember these cars being as comon as the Punto and Focus are now.

I certainly do, and even further than that.
My uncle bought a new A55 in 1959, and has had 2 Maxi’s since.
When I was a kid in Belgium in the 50’s, most cars were from the UK, because that’s about all there was there and then.
I also think that the UK had rationing of steel until about 1950, and most steel had to go for export.
We got told that the Land Rover had an aluminium body because since most were for use in the UK and Commonwealth dependencies, they didn’t qualify for exemption from steel rationing.
