Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

I've had this link in my bookmarks for a while

I'm considering doing some of the mods to my 405 just to make it a bit more driveable. It's all good and well when it's on boost but sometimes it's just a bit lacking.

Well I finally found a cheapish Rover 75 conniossaur TDi auto. It's a bit mileagey for a 2001 car at 137K but the autobox had a rebuild by BMW about 18 months ago. The engine is a straight 4, 2litre BMW turbo diesel.

It does need some work though, e.g. the door locks are sticky, and stiff even manually. The CD stacker fingy has been unplugged and...

hi all.. sorry I have been away from here for a bit... A weekend away in venice in the floods and just now 5 days solid working outdoors on my v6 have taken up a fair bit of time...

60 hours later and now I have removed the flood damaged engine, swapped the auto box onto the new 50K (ebay) engine, and fitted that back in.

I started it tonight...

A header tank was duly rigged, and the v6 has two bleeds around the thermostat.. between the three the matrix now works fine :)

The reason you cant suction drain the DV series engines is because there is a stopper at the bottom of the dipstick tube that prevents the suction tube going right into the bottom of sump. Citroen permit suction draining on many of their other engines.

Or so I thought... It seemed to be making on and off rushing noises as I drove home from work.

Must have been a long day. In fact, the rushing noise was airflow through the car. I'd left the wagon's tailgate up. Good that for once I was driving sedately, and nothing fell out! :shock:

hi all can anyone help?
I have done driveshaft removal many times without an issue, but right now this one is being a pig
I have hammered, leavered and used heat on the aluminium casing but it wount budge :(

any thoughts?

I have yet to roadtest the car, but yes! two autobox specialists took the gearbox under their wing and whilst I held the box, one bashed the inter bearing with one of those wooden and ?brass / bronze heavy things while rotating the shaft.. slowly, very slowly it came out! :shock: :shock:

It got snapped up very cheaply by someone in Poole and he reported all was well a month or so on. Lost touch since but would be good to know it's still going.

A colleague at work had extreme starting difficulties this morning (-5°) and took his Berlingo 2.0 HDi to a local garage. They checked that battery and ran a diagnostic then pulled 2 dead and one dying glow plug which were replaced with Bosch ones, all for £70.
He was told that they could fit cheaper plugs but they would only give three months...

Probably the main reason i like it is the fact its a rare colour.

Its the only one ive seen, so not sure how well it would look in the metal, looks good in the photos though 8)

I think for S2 Xantias i like the dark grey colour, like XantiaMan583s Activa.

There are a few nice colours really, but all quite dark.

Any modification to a car, if declared, is likely to increase your insurance far in excess of the performance gain. If it's not declared you're not insured.

Smaller engines aren't necessarily more economical. If a car is underpowered it has to work that much harder just to keep moving. The 1.9TD Xantia is an example of a car that wastes fuel...

Trawling thru a few Citroen sites i came across this subtle Xantia, there must be ++++++++hrs of work here and nicely done, not to sure about the alloys ? a nice set of Activa rims would look ok though..

The story is this:

The car I am going to collect at the weekend has no road tax.

The car was px'ed by the previous but one owner at a local garage, and then I think the car was sold to the current owner, who is selling it to me.

The current owner did not fillout the V5 and send the relevant parts to the DVLA.

As some of you may have picked up, I'm an airsofter (best way to describe airsoft is like paintball but a lot more fun, a lot less messy, and a heck of a lot less painful!) and one of my pet projects with it is a camera to record the skirmishes as they take place.

I know camshaft, injectors are different, but what about the main block itself? I can't see it being different...

I didn't borrow one either - I used my own... :lol:

The Xantia 65 litre tank can take 66.28 litres of fuel, no worries. :twisted: That also saw me drive into the service station, no misfiring or rough running prior.

It was my usual pump and vendor; the Weights and Measures people check them often enough so I don't feel there's dishonesty....

I have a problem. Since installing FrontPage 2003 on my PC, it has upset Windows Picture Manager and the (albiet poor) JPEG compression/resize functions no longer work. It seems the PM in Office 2007 or whatever it is I'm using clashes with FP :oops:

I need FP2003 for my website editing.

Is there a good, simple freeware JPG tool that I can use...

I found my half-inch socket adaptor today - stuck behind the timing belt tensioner pulley. :shock:

I lost it while changing my timing belt - I've since done about 2,000 miles.

ok weve all had the enviromental budget busting leasons on fuel saving, but whos got the lowest MPG? mines currently 26 thanks to olympic building site sending half of london past my front door. (lead boots probably dont help)

Man thats low!

Rachel's Verso can dip as low as 31 when pushed hard but at the moment is into the Mid 40's. I know this is due to the Dcat and the 5th injector just 'dumping'(i kid not here) fuel to heat the Dcat up to burn off the rubbish... May crimp that line soon enough and see if i can get the economy up that way ;)
